07.01.2022 Learner driver crossed border to get NSW permit, while living in Mildura -court told after being charged. Sunraysia Daily, Australia 7 Mar 2020 10 A TEENAGER has been charged and brought before a court for going over the border into NSW to get a learner’s permit, while living in Mildura. A children’s court was told the 17-year-old was intercepted by police while riding a motorbike along Deakin Avenue in Mildura South last October.... Checks revealed he held a NSW learner’s permit but was living in Victoria when he obtained it. The teenager told police he had used a Gol Gol address to get the permit so he could ride to school and intended to change his licence to his Victorian address when he turned 18. In NSW, drivers can gain their probationary licence at 17, whereas in Victoria the minimum age is 18. A magistrate told the teenager he accepted he had made a poor decision and recognised his error of judgment, which resulted in him enduring the stress and inconvenience of being charged and fronting court. He was placed on a diversion program and if it is completed the case will be dismissed. See more

02.01.2022 A road rules quiz about which car has right of way when merging has left drivers divided [see picture] QUESTION Eg Crossing over Deakin Ave towards Madden Ave...Blue car is in the right lane going staight, his lane continues... yellow car in the left lane and can choose to turn left into Madden or merge into right lane before his lane ends....so who has right of way? ANSWER a driver whose lane is coming to an end must give way to traffic that's 'already in the lane you're m...oving into'. So in this case it's the driver of the orange car who has to give way to the blue car. Another way to look at it from the Road Safety Road Rules 2009 148 (1) which states: A driver who is moving from one marked lane (whether or not the lane is ending) to another marked lane must give way to any vehicle travelling in the same direction as the driver in the marked lane to which the driver is moving.
