A very busy but enjoyable few days. Thanks to the organisers especially Cally and Natalie N Roger Hancock. You did a brilliant job and looked after us very well. It was nice to be able to judge quality horses whose handlers and riders really got into the spirit. Congratulations to everyone involved.

11.01.2022 Jemma Reeve-Singles October 19 Mildura Show 2019... Had an amazing show this year with Bart, Barney and Archie (Jennifer Connell). After Champion Prelim on Arch and Champion Novice on Barty Wednesday, we didn’t think we could get any more good luck our way! Breeds day Bart was sashed Best Presented Pally of the show against some beautiful horses as well as getting Champion Led Palomino Gelding and Champion Ridden Palomino and Ridden Dilute! Barney was Champion Pally Stallion and got the Supreme Led Palomino of the show. Thank you to the Stirrat Family for kindly sponsoring the Rug and Garland! Open Day on Friday Bart carried me to Champion Senior Rider and was Champion Show Hunter Pony in the first ring with 6 stunning ponies in the championship! Archie was also Champion Open Galloway in the first ring! After a bit of a disaster Bart was unable to compete in the supreme but Archie did me proud getting Supreme Ridden Open Exhibit of the show. Also a massive thank you to Sandy Natale for allowing me to use Basil for my Rider Supreme, I really appreciate all your support and generosity. Thank you to Horseland Mildura for sponsoring the rug and Cally Stirrat for the garland. Friday night we had the grandslams which made all of my dreams come true! Bart won the Pony Grandslam which was amazing after his little accident and Archie was the Galloway Grandslam winner. Archie was also the highest scoring horse of the night so he won the Anne-Marie Dawes Memorial Award which was a great honour. There are too many sponsors, helpers, organisers etc. to even name but I am so thankful for everything that goes on behind the scenes to get a show like this running! Thank you Jenny and Phil for letting me ride Archie, I really do think he is my second heart horse along side my Barty boy and he really does help make my dreams come true. Sandy, Aida and little mis Paige for your love, support and friendship. Maryann Dunstall for being my cheer squad, and mum for helping me prep my ponies and get them in the ring, my number one supporter!

09.01.2022 Equestrian Memories Australia 3 hrs DID YOU KNOW LYN (NETTIE) PEART? It is 50 years ago now that a friend of Equestrian Memories Australia and Kevin Bacon visited Lyn Peart in hospital at Mildura to say 'goodbye'. Stricken with cancer, she bit her tongue while riding a young horse and her time on this earth was to be short. They would never forget this 25 year old who was a gun of a rider, often duelling with Milton Donaldson and his great Ranfurlie and the travelling team...s often in this area at that time. Nettie's father was Tex Peart, a big horse trader in his day. Many a good horse was purchased by him out of Northern Queensland and N.S.W. and transported to Victoria. He was also instrumental in digging many irrigation channels in Sunraysia, by horse, well before machines were used. Tex was a master blacksmith and a man of many trades. Nettie and her wonderful pony Pinto is shown here winning an event at Broken Hill in 1964. She loved her horses and each afternoon she could be seen on her horse bringing up to 40 horses from the paddock on the Calder Highway to the irrigation channel at their home. They would be watered, and then she would drive them back to their paddock to graze. Not only was Nettie a wonderful rider but she was really loved by her community and friends. Not only a loss to family and friends but to the Australian equestrian scene. With her ability she could have climbed to the highest level in our sport. Did you know Nettie? Would love to hear your stories too. Photo Credit: Broken Hill City Library
