Mildura Strength and Performance Centre has had a makeover and is well and truly ready for door opening on 22 June 2020. A big thank you to Brett Goldsworthy The Boss Paintworx for the great paintwork, and the team of Jason Chisari Sam Chisari Nick Barlow Jimmy Chich Franca Bulzomi and Ami Motu'apuaka, for all the hard work to get it all ‘right on time’ !!!

08.01.2022 Hi members to you who have asked me to keep memberships going, I have decided to make available equipment for everybody to keep training. 08.01.2022 Well it is done for this year. The Inaugural Vince Simonetta Powerlifting Competition was held at Mildura Strength and Performance Centre on Saturday 14 December 2019. Where do I start? Up front, the people of the Community that attended the event. Without such a great and interactive audience, the lifting is not as exciting. To all, thank you. Then the judges, Yuris Sterns, who doubled up as MC, Andrea Sterns and Janet Smith who travelled from South Australia the morning of ...the Comp. Thank you, without these wonderful people, my life would have been much more stressful. The Spotters, who I think have the hardest job of all. Kevin Conway who also travelled from South Australia, was platform chief overseeing our local boys; led by Joel Ridings, Brett Goldsworthy, Jacob McEwan, Andrew Ryan and James (Jimbob) Smith, Thank you. The Scorer’s, Timekeepers and DJ’s; Justin Allen, Silvana Cavallo, Sot Karatsas, Vanessa Capogreco, Cassy Nulty and John Dunning, Thank you. Food and hydration were looked after by Jen Taylor. Thank you for the countless hours you have spent arranging and organising everything. To Franca Bulzomi for the preparation of food for the ‘official’ party and to Sot for the hours spent preparing the very healthy Protein Balls. A special thanks to YoYo Joe’s Coffee and catering, for keeping everyone caffeinated and fed, Thank you. Shannon Doyle, our photographer from Shannon Doyle Photography for doing an awesome job. Thank you very much for offering our lifters some great mementoes. Okay now for the serious side of the day, the lifting. I was one very proud coach, to see how all the lifters handled themselves on the day, many personal bests for all the lifters. We were blessed to have our idol Odell Manuel be part of the opening session, we invite him to be very much part of our family as an idol and friend maybe next year in person. The winners are calculated by formula; and were recognised with beautiful trophies donated by Dolfen Constructions. Placings for Women; in first place, Rachael Longeri with a total of 400kg, second place, Kara MacKinnon with a total of 325kg and third place went to Amanda Hill with a total of 365kg. Placings for Men; in first place, Nicolas Woods with a total of 562.5kg, second place James Chick with a total of 612.5kg and third place went to Jason Chisari with a total of 622.5kg. To my great family at the Strength and Performance Centre thank you all for your assistance in preparing for the day, including the hours in the set up of the gym for the presentation, night before and morning of the Competition. Most would go on to lift later in the day, and then be around to rearrange back to the original set up the following day. Just a personal thank you to Mildura Weekly for the coverage and support leading up to the event and follow up after. Lots to look forward to next year, new lifters and more PB’s. Vince. See more
