25.01.2022 Are you ready for training? Bring your gear and bring a friend. We would love to welcome new players to the Wanderers Hockey Club. Training starts on Tuesday the 3rd March - just next week - 5:30 to 6:30 for juniors and seniors straight after, from 6:30 to 8pm. See you all there.

25.01.2022 Well done U13 girls. Big thanks to the volunteers - especially the coaches for their support of our girls this year - they've all improved so much.

25.01.2022 Reminders: Training times - Tuesdays. Juniors 5pm to 6pm. Seniors 6:30pm to 7:30/8pm... We are awaiting more details for season start. It will be at least 9 weeks plus finals. Fees will be determined when we get the SHA fee details. They will be reduced compared to previous years. As part of our "COVID return to training" process we are required and agreed to pay our HV registration before commencing training. The HV online fee has NOT been reduced by much, just a little bit. Please pay this as soon as you decide to play. No sharing of face masks will be permitted during games. They MUST be cleaned between games. The club has a number of masks. If players would like to purchase their own mask, Wanderers will subsidise each player/mask by $20. Annie is coming this Sunday and again this coming Tuesday. Ring her to place your order and she will bring them up with her. Let her know you are from our club are she will bill us the $20 and you the remainder. Please let your fellow hockey mates aware of what's going on if they're not on Facebook. Bring more players . . . Let us know what you're planning to commit to this season. We will keep you updated whenever we can!!

24.01.2022 Hi juniors. You don't have hockey training tonight but maybe you could work on your fitness by doing the laundry or mowing the lawn? Lol (Yeah right).

24.01.2022 Hi all Big thank you to Mildura Rural City Council for their ongoing support of Mildura Wanderers Hockey Club. For the 2021 season we have added to our store of equipment for use on "Come and Try" days and to loan to new players. This project is made possible by a grant from Mildura Rural City Council. Without the support of council's generous sporting club grants it would not be possible to keep fees as low as we do which helps us keep players in the game.

23.01.2022 Magnificent to see such a healthy turn out for training on Tuesday.

The program is supported by Hockey Victoria and they will be providing the format for the sessions and will be supporting the growth of the coaches in each of the associations by attending some of the training and game day sessions. Jamie will be assisting the coaches to implement the program and will be attending sessions at the various venues. Each player will receive a Lightning polo shirt to wear at training as part of the $200 fee. If your child already owns a Lightning polo shirt the cost of the program will be $170. 20.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS The junior competition will continue this weekend despite greater border restrictions. With fewer players available (NSW members not able to play) there will be more flexibility with the number of players needed to get a game started and with the sharing of players between teams.... There will be a NSW hub created for players from all club to participate in training on Saturday mornings. It will be held at the Wentworth Public School. Times to be established but if you're in NSW and are interested, let Wendy know. As we cannot (yet) have a senior competition, SHA are going to run an 18&U mixed competition starting this Saturday. (People can play up to the day they turn 19.) A schedule will be established tomorrow. The teams will be mixed club and mixed gender. An SHA sub-committee is meeting tomorrow evening to allocate the players to teams, sort out team names and colours AND allocate coaches. If you are interested in participating in this comp (as a player, coach or umpire) and have not yet completed an EOI form, please let Wendy know of your interest ASAP. We will let people know the teams and game times as soon as they're decided tomorrow.

18.01.2022 COVID 19 Update The Association had previously advised that the Sunraysia Hockey Association 2020 season would commence on the 1st of May, it has become obvious... that this is not going to be possible. Rather than giving a date that may require further change, the committee has decided that we will commence the 2020 season 2 to 4 weeks after a State Government announcement that community sport is able to recommence. We do thank you for your patience during this trying and uncertain time. Stay safe. regards, Andrew Carrigan President Sunraysia Hockey Association.

13.01.2022 Hi all Before the year closes out we just wanted to put out a big thank you to Mildura Rural City Council for their ongoing support of Mildura Wanderers Hockey Club. This project is made possible by a grant from Mildura Rural City Council. Without the support of council's generous sporting club grants it would not be possible to keep keep fees as low as we do which helps us keep players in the game. For the 2019 season we purchased an extra small goalie kit for all the little ones coming up from Hook In 2 Hockey into our under 11's and 8 hockey masks for short corners.

13.01.2022 Are any of our goalkeepers (or potential GKs) interested in participating in a 4 week X 1 1/2 hour GK specific training program? Would most likely be Fridays, starting this week. There will be a cost. Contact Wendy (0488 041965) for further details.

12.01.2022 Well done to a great season

12.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE SUSPENSION OF CLUB ACTIVITIES Hello Wanderers,... In view of the rapidly evolving situation with respect to Covid-19 and the latest response from both state and federal governments; the Committee has made the difficult decision to suspend club activities, including training, until after Easter when the situation will be reassessed. We share your disappointment at this development, however, the health and wellbeing of our members is at the forefront of our decision-making process. Please continue to monitor our Facebook page and participate when you can. Don't forget to check in with your teammates, we need to look out for each other during these unprecedented times. Thank you, everyone!

11.01.2022 The Working with Children Act 2005 requires all Sunraysia Hockey Association (and its clubs) volunteers who are over the age of 18 and have direct contact with juniors, to hold a Working With Children Check (WWCC). As a minimum, Hockey Victoria recommends the following individuals be required to have a WWCC: Club and association committee members and administrators Coaches of junior teams, and coaches of senior teams with junior players... Team Managers and first aiders of junior teams and senior teams with junior players Umpires who umpire juniors, umpires who umpire senior teams with junior players, umpires who umpire with a junior co umpire Umpire coaches/mentors Canteen supervisor If you do not already have a WWCC check this can be done in a very easy three-step process. There is no cost for a volunteer card. 1. Go to http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/ and follow the guidelines to start the ball rolling and verify your identity. 2. Attend Australia Post to have your photo taken and submit the paperwork. 3. Wait for your details to be emailed to you. Once you have your WWCC, please complete this form to register your details with the SHA - https://bit.ly/2GkOdZu

We are pumped to anno...unce RSHA have developed specific training packages for the 2020/21 season We have decided to cap training numbers this year because we want to ensure we are delivering incredible value to our athletes. ALl good, you ALL still have a spot in the academy We are so excited to have created options for our athletes that are in line with current training packages across Australasia . RSHA athletes also have the advantage of working with Jamie Pain whom has spent the past 25+ years developing himself as a leading field hockey coach in Australia, Fiji and Malaysia. Jamie recently coached the U21 Australian Country team in Malaysia and has been appointed the Victorian U18 Development Team Coach. He is the current Head Coach of the North West Lightning Development Program and is also preparing to travel to SA to conduct training programs in February for associations leading into the 2020 season. These are a couple of the opportunities Jamie has had because of his TENACITY, PASSION and COMMITMENT to not only providing quality coaching but also his desire to stretch himself and learn from the BEST in the field. We have chosen options that maximise RESULTS and DECREASE costs to make training for our athletes much more attainable . Our most popular package is the PLATINUM MEMBERSHIP. 06.01.2022 Wanderers' Raffle Due to the circumstances, we are postponing the fundraising raffle. We plan to continue the raffle when we can return. That will almost certainly be next year.... We have spoken to those few who have returned books/money and sorted a solution to these. We have spoken to most of you and collected back what we could. Those of you who still have books of tickets, please do NOT sell them but please hang onto them to return them when it is possible to do so later. Any questions should be directed to Jenny. Phone number can be shared upon request.

06.01.2022 Good Evening The SHA is working with HV and MRCC to get us back to training and then into games. There is a lot of red tape.... At this stage we are being told that training probably won't be given a green light until June. And games some three to four weeks later. The season will happen but it will be quite short; details are thin at this stage. We will advise members of any information as it comes to light.

05.01.2022 Don't forget it's our AGM 7pm this Thursday at the club rooms. A few of the current committee members are moving on so it would be great if we could have some new faces step up to fill the roles.

04.01.2022 Thank you to Michelle Perry, Jeff Topp and Cooper Topp for volunteering at the SHA Bunnings BBQ this morning.

04.01.2022 Reminder: women's training now begins at 6.00pm on Tuesday evening.

04.01.2022 Juniors - Don't forget to register with Hockey Vic - this needs to be done prior to your first game. You should be able to use this link to go to the registration page. Choose the relevant membership age group. If this link does not work, follow the directions below the link. https://www.revolutionise.com.au/mwhc/registration/... Go to the Hockey Victoria website, use the "Register Now!" button, choose a "Join Now" or a "More Info" Outdoor Playing Registration button, search Mildura Wanderers HC - under M. Everyone will need to choose the "Register" button (it is a new system that does NOT hold your info from previous years so the Renew button will not work). Enter your details, follow the prompts. Good luck.

04.01.2022 Hi Everyone, TRAINING CAN START !! Places are limited so we will have to stagger training times based on how many participants we will have. We are permitted to have no more than ten plus a coach in each half of the pitch.... So . . . If you would like to start training you MUST let us know. We do not yet know when games will start but a wild guess is it will be in July. How to let us know what your intentions are . . . If you will be playing in either of the senior Men's competitions, please advise Mark (0400 912 698 or the group chat) of your intention to train. If you will be playing in the Women's competition or in any of the junior competitions please advise Tamsin by text on 0481 284 466. If you intend to play but not train, please also advise the appropriate contact person of that. We look forward to hearing from you ASAP and we will let you know about training times as soon as we can. Definitely before Tuesday. Thanks.

03.01.2022 This is dedicated to all the sports teams who couldn’t get a game this season

03.01.2022 Hi All, Well, it looks like the junior comp will be going ahead as from next weekend. Yay!! That's U13G, U13B, U15B and U16G. The feasibility of an U18 competition is being discussed at SHA level for our members who are too old for U15/U16 but still permitted (by the govt) to resume games. We will get back to you on this ASAP.... Due to the age of the U11 and Hin2H participants, and the needed support of their parents, it has not be established whether these comps will resume. We're still waiting for the green light for seniors. Apparently the covid situation will be reassessed at the state level at the end of the month and we will be advised. Club fees have been adjusted to reflect the length of the season. Juniors - $120 full fee / $80 early bird. Members who are playing in multiple grades: The above club fee covers the turf levy for the 1st grade. The turf levy for the 2nd grade played will be paid by the club. If a member plays in a third grade, the turf levy for that 3rd grade will be paid by the member ie. $25 for junior. Payment to be made by Round 3 and/or start a payment plan. Hockey Vic Registration Fees must be paid prior to Round 1: $25.50 - Junior 8 and Under (8 & Under as at 31 December 2020) $50.00 - Junior Outdoor Playing Membership (Aged 9 10 as at 31 December 2020) $67 - Youth Outdoor Playing Membership (Aged 11 18 Years as at 31 December 2020) Senior fees had also been adjusted but, as the situation has changed again since those fees were set, we will hold off before posting these. Thanks for your patience, Wanderers Committee.

02.01.2022 FROM SHA - 2020 START DATES commencing for u13's, u15s, u16's on Friday 17th July. Seniors will commence with B Grade Men on Friday 24th July.... 50% discount on SHA turf and umpire levies for the 2020 season.

02.01.2022 Please use this link to find the current draws and results: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/sunraysiaha/home/

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Mark Lohmyer, Tamsin Mclean and Rory Giddings for being selected to umpire grand final games. It's a great recognition of their umpiring abilities to be selected.

02.01.2022 Hi All, Desperately seeking helpers - part time/shift workers or uni students would be ideal. Helpers could be players or parents of players. The SHA has qualified coaches - we just need some helpers - people who would be able to encourage the school kids and reinforce information given by the coaches. NEXT Tuesday (11th) or Friday (14th) - are you available - can you help us out? If so, please let Wendy know on 0488041965 ASAP. Thanks.

02.01.2022 Don't forget training tomorrow: Senior women 6pm. Senior men 6:30pm. No junior training but any juniors who will be playing seniors are welcome at senior training.
