18.01.2022 As part of Exhibition in Year 6 at Miles students are expected to take action to show their understanding, to apply knowledge and skills, to reflect, and often to make a contribution to a cause or stimulate positive change. We are so proud of all the different ways students took action this year, a special mention goes to Trinity who baked and sold cookies to raise funds for the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary. Well done Trinity on taking action locally!
17.01.2022 This morning our year six students visited Melba Copland Secondary School as part of our high school transition program. They engaged in activities including cooking, science and woodwork.
17.01.2022 Congratulations to Peter Hazlewood for his Vocational Studies Award. Peter has been working with us at Miles Franklin for the last two years as part of his studies. Peter has been an amazing support to both staff and students, helping us with everything and anything ICT related. Congratulations Peter, this award is well deserved.

Father’s day stalls will be held Friday 4 September (main school stall) and Tuesday 1 September (Preschool early week classes stall). Tubs are in classrooms for the kids to put their donations in. 13.01.2022 Year 5/6 Market Day is on tomorrow! All money raised will go towards the end of gift that Year 6 will give to the school. To help support our Market Day please send your child in with $1-$10 in coins in a zip lock bag with their name.
11.01.2022 We raised almost $700 dollars last week at the Indigenous Book Swap for the Literacy Foundation! A big thank you to everyone who supported the event.
11.01.2022 Today we celebrate the end of the primary school journey for our year six students. They have showed amazing resilience to finish with a positive attitude despite the challenges of the last two years. We wish them all the best for high school!
11.01.2022 Melba Copland Showcase: What super day with our talented Year 4 singers and Year 5 dancers! The team did lots of filming and takes. They have worked so hard over the last two terms to learn their pieces and that really showed today. It’s going to be an amazing video. Well done Year 4 and 5!

Congratulations also to Miss Bourne and Robyn for receiving a nomination in the ACT Public Education Awards. We have an amazing staff at Miles Franklin and it is a honour to have members of our team recognised at this event.
10.01.2022 Canteen Day: Who doesn’t have fond memories of ordering from the school canteen when they were younger?! Our amazing staff and volunteers help to make memories for our Miles Children every day. Today we say thank you for the yummy snakes and healthy fresh lunches. 09.01.2022 Last week Year 5 and 6 participated in eSafety workshops run by the department. During the workshop they looked at how they can stay safe online. 07.01.2022 A big thank you to all the families, staff and After school care team members and community who gave up their time on the weekend to help pack boxes for the Canberra Basket Brigade. Together the packing team made up over 350 boxes which will be delivered around Canberra to those in need. Admission is for 30 minutes and we are limiting the number of adults in the hall to 70 due to the size of the hall and social distancing requirements. Entry will be through the door that MFOSHC use. Exiting will be through the side door out to the carpark. 06.01.2022 Book Swap this Wednesday! On Wednesday 2 September the SRC will be holding a ‘Great Book Swap’ in the library. Students are encouraged to choose a book from home that is in excellent condition to donate to the Book Swap. These books will be collected from classrooms and displayed in the library on Wednesday 2 September. Classes will come through the Book Swap and buy a book for a $2 donation. If students would like to donate more than one book, that would be wonderful (but p...lease check with parents first). 24.10.2021 A big shout out to our year 2 team, both staff and students, for their enthusiastic engagement in Aqua Safe over the last week. It’s been a long year and we haven’t had many opportunities to take our students on excursions. 29.09.2021 Our Year Two Aqua Safe program starts tomorrow! Information on what to bring was sent home on Thursday via email and Seesaw announcement. Students should come to school with their swimmers on underneath their uniform.

There is only a short window with orders closing on the 6/12 & no late orders will be accepted sorry. For Preschool orders please fill in the note that teachers will send home & return to your child’s Preschool teacher. Blue & Yellow groups will get there’s on Tuesday 14/12 (week 11)
