25.01.2022 The story of Bob Shepherd's and his friend Brian Bradshaw's conversion and ministry is told in Chapter 52 of Milestones of Mercy (2019). They served in WW2 with our friend John's father Bill Peters. Bill is standing third from the right in the second photo (arms crossed). Bob is standing second from the left. John Ridley was the chaplain who challenged these men to accept Christ as their saviour whilst at the Ingleburn Base. Their story of coming to Christ and subsequently serving Him is a remarkable Milestone of God's Mercy. The men served in the 9th Field Ambulance.

20.01.2022 An original ‘Eternity’ sign on Sheepwash Rd outside of Bowral, NSW. Apparently the sign has been there for about 55 years according to a local who pointed it out to us today. John G Ridley preached a message on Eternity that inspired Arthur Stace to write the word 1/2 million times. The story is told briefly in Chapter 45 of Milestones of Mercy (2019).
20.01.2022 In the chapter entitled, 'The Tale of the Tree' John G Ridley recounts his second missionary endeavour after he was married to Dorothy. The gospel van was being towed up the steep gradient on part of the Great Northern Road. A driver from Sydney had offered to help tow the van up the gradient and had attached the van by three ropes to his lorry. Needless to say, the first rope broke then the next etc. The van with Ridley in it (Dorothy was walking behind the van) was saved... from rolling down a steep gully to disaster by a solitary tree. Ridley produced a gospel tract that paralleled his escape from death by a solitary tree to that of the cross of Calvary that saves sinners. Thousands of 'tree' tracts were distributed throughout Australia and then in different parts of the world. This tract proved to be the most productive of the 40 odd tracts he wrote. Saved by the tree from disaster. Calvary's tree where Christ died is the gift to sinners of salvation when they trust the Saviour who died on that 'tree'. See more

08.01.2022 ‘The Lord is good, a strong-hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him’ Hahum 1:7 Ridley writes that in the shadow of the Ypes Salient in Belgium (1917) where some of the fiercest fighting of WW1 occurred, he shared a Bible Study on ‘God is Good’. There were many men present as they faced the prospect of another big battle and perhaps another Fromelles type battle. Ridley’s outline was: A God of Goodness A God of Strength... A God of Knowledge After the study an older man who was in civilian life a Methodist minister stood up and insisted on giving an invitation for the men present to receive Christ as their Saviour. Seven men rose to confess Christ and to put their trust in Him. Ridley recalls that within days four of those men had passed into eternity and so had the Methodist minister. The mercy and providence of God to prepare some to face death and be ushered into God's presence and also to preserve others to go onto serve Him for many years to come (Ridley talking of himself).
