At MILESTONES CANNINGVALE we love introducing literacy and numeracy to your child in creative ways which will develop their lifelong love of learning. Today, we engaged in a hands on cupcake counting activity. The toddlers used their fine motor skill skills and pincer grip to pick up buttons . Using eye hand co ordination, the toddlers placed the buttons to the corresponding number on the cupcake to decorate it. Persisting at the task, the toddlers loved counting 1 through 5.

Last Saturday Miss Anjeet our amazing Early Childhood Teacher did her part to help out small business around Southern River to boost their entrepreneurship sale a little. Lots of children books were going at low cost and she bought some for our preschool room! We added these new collection to our library resource and the children are so thrilled. The children picked two books for her to read this morning - "I like Popcorn" & "The Scaredy Shark". Both stories were interesting and entertaining. 16.01.2022 Yoga is so fun The preschoolers engaged with a range of learning disposition like bending, stretching, breathing exercises and balancing. This physical exercise is designed to include poses that the children are comfortable with. We did some creative pose like the pyramid, cobra, one legged horse and the Aum sitting posture. The children loved showing off their stamina and flexibility of their body parts. It promoted healthy body exercise and mind relaxation.

16.01.2022 Silkworm Science Do you know? Silkworms lay up to 300 eggs at a time... They eat only mulberry leaves cos the leaves are rich in vitamins and minerals A single cocoon can be 300 - 900 m long Silkworms make great pets for kids! The preschoolers were so excited to learn about the life cycle of the Silkworms. Their hands on Science experience prompted questions like do they sleep? why do they crawl so slow and come in different shades. These brainstorming and curiosity activity allowed the children to share ideas on opportunities for self expression. It also connected children to understand about the natural world and insects.

11.01.2022 The preschool children learned about the importance of Kindness and Being Helpful. We talked to them about the Rainbow Trial Australia. This information was crucial for children understanding as it enforces positive relationship during these tough times. We discussed how rainbow coloured art, drawing and painting brings Joy to one and all during this pandemic. Our Question was " what makes you Happy?" Most of them said ice cream! So we painted rainbow ice cream's today and it brought lots of Happiness to their little faces!

09.01.2022 Educational activities are best when they are interactive and fun! This pipe cleaner counting activity is perfect for our little toddlers mind. To set up the activity, we used paper cups and made some holes with pen and used sharpie to write numbers on the front of the cups. Next, we had a handful of pipe cleaners, and twisted them in shape of flowers. We used a variety of fun colors too. Then, we counted out the right number of pipe cleaners, and children's push them through the holes at the top of the cup.

04.01.2022 The Toddler's planted the bean's themselves and watched them grow into long stalks overtime. They processed the link between the seed and the current plant. They showed curiosity in the various length the plants grew to, and demonstrated interests in their friends’ plants. 04.01.2022 It seems there's something special about family members that makes children feel supported and happy in a way no other person can. So to make that connection with family members preschool children made family link hand print craft. Children chose different colors for different family members. Children were pretty good in choosing the colors as most of them chose pink and purple for Mum and sister's whereas blue and green for Dad's and Brother's. It was nice to know some of the children could tell their Mum's and Dad's name as well.
