15.01.2022 "I wish people knew how exhausting having a complex mental illness can be. Physically exhausting, to the point of struggling to get out of bed. My mind races at... a million miles an hour. There's times when my mind is relatively empty and quiet, but even that can be just as tiring. "I wish people knew how terrifying having a complex mental illness can be. You get given a diagnosis, and it scares you. You don't know much about it, apart from negative reports in the media, so you do some research. The diagnosis fits, it makes sense, but the statistics look terrifying. "When I can, I attend therapy once a fortnight. Learning everything that happens in a borderline brain, how a borderline brain perceives things, everything is black and white, good or bad, there is no grey, there is nothing in between. Trying to learn that there are shades of grey in between the black and white and trying to shift your whole thinking and doing process can get exhausting. It's scary, as this has always been my normal thought process, but trying to comprehend that things can be different is exhausting. And it's scary. But it's manageable. I'm learning so much about myself and borderline personality disorder. It takes time, but that's ok." - Sophie
