22.01.2022 Filling your cup is just as important as all of your other day to day tasks. Sometimes you do need to put yourself first mama. It’s hard I know, but remember you matter In between feeds make sure you do at least one thing for yourself each day. Enjoy a book, watch some tv, get outside into the fresh air, pour a hot cuppa.... The monotonous house hold tasks and chores will be there day in and day out; you push yourself to complete these every single day. So what not ensure that self care is mandatory too. It’s these simple things that can help you reset, reboot & refresh your mind, body & soul. Happy Wednesday Mama. What will be your act of self care today? 21.01.2022 Cluster feeding is normal. Cluster feeding is normal. Cluster feeding is normal.... Cluster feeding is normal. Did I mention cluster feeding is normal? You see the thing is our babies are more clever then us. Here is how it works: When our supply is running low temporarily our babies will feed more often at the breast to do their best to increase it again. When our babies are unwell they will feed to boost their immunity and for comfort. When our babes are going through a growth spurt they will feed regularly because they know their body demands more calories to get stronger and bigger. When it is warmer weather our babies are extra thirsty and feed a LOT. We want this. They know how to prevent dehydration during this time. Feed on demand is best. When our babies are seeking comfort they will do so by feeding. Eg very normal for a babe to feed post immunisation regularly. Lastly - this is an important one >> cluster feeding periods should be temporary and not an all day everyday occurrence. This is the only time it’s not abnormal. 20.01.2022 A clogged duct is when there is an obstruction in the breast preventing milk flow which causes a blockage & a build up of milk. Signs or symptoms of having a clogged duct may include: Tenderness or pain to a specific location in the breast, lumps, heat & or redness in the effected area. But to receive a message like this truely touches my heart ~~~~~~ Hi Bec, I messaged you about 2 weeks ago about how excited I was to try your cookies because unfortunately I went into preterm labour at 32 weeks and gave birth ...to my beautiful son arlo who is now a NICU graduate and is coming home soon since he’s putting so much weight on now and thriving, I want to thank you for these cookies you’ve sent me and explain how much they’ve helped a nicu mama like me to make so much milk and have a amazing milk supply for my little preemie, the midwives are amazed everyday I bring over 400-500ml of milk a day, and I have to say I think it’s your cookies that has helped me with that, so again thank you thank you! There are many the faces of breastfeeding. I’ve shared the tough ones because we can celebrate it without saying it’s always easy, I shared the beautiful ones because we can celebrate it without saying it’s always hard. I’ve shared when it’s not World Breastfeeding week - because we shouldn’t need a reason or a time... where it’s Ok. I still share even though it’s been more than a year. Because sharing our experience is the only way we learn what it’s really like... that no two journeys are the same, but many of the feelings are... Because one day you’ll feed your last baby for the last time - be it breast, bottle or tube - and realise how fleeting that time was and how much of it was wasted on guilt, judgment, shame- when really it’s nothing but love ...
