15.01.2022 40 years ago today, petrol was 50 cents per litre, a stamp was 15 cents, Malcolm Fraser was the prime minister but most importantly, Mick Hales started working at Millar Merrigan as a survey assistant. Today, he is a director and well-loved leader of the business. Mick is the heart and soul of the Millar Merrigan culture (as seen from some of the pictures), and a role model and daily inspiration to everyone. 11.01.2022 The huge, multistory M-City development in Clayton doesn't fit well into the lens of a hand held camera, so we had to fly our drone over to fully appreciate the scale of this project. Our engineers and project managers have been working day and night (literally) on the external road and service realignment works.

11.01.2022 Yarrawonga is a popular holiday destination for many, and this Murray River town are about to experience a significant expansion over the next few years. Millar Merrigan will plan, design and deliver Glanmire Park Estate, by Riverstown Developments, which will add approximately 1,000 lots, boosting the existing township by roughly 25%. With features such as 'The Tan' size loop exercise track around the wetlands and open spaces, developments of this scale provide the opportuni...ty to create a truly inspiring community to live in, or escape to. Lead by Senior Development Manager, Scott McJannet, Millar Merrigan are undertaking all development services; survey, planning, engineering design and construction, landscape architectural design and construction and development coordination. This project was recently featured in the local Yarrawonga Chronicle (below) as a buzz for the town as they look to recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19.

Live from the awards ceremony, we are proud to announce that our Central Walk Estate in Drysdale, by our clients Urban Land Developments, won the BEST RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT (under 250 lots) at the annual UDIA Vic Awards for Excellence. That is our second win in three years with Lomandra Estate, Romsey, winning Best Residential Development (under 250 lots) in 2017, also by Urban Land Developments.

09.01.2022 At the end of every year we reflect on our impact and performance through some statistics. Looking back we calculated that... Over the last three years we lodged 979 town planning applications to which 950 were successful. That’s lodgement of between one and two applications per business day at a 97% success rate.... In 2017 we delivered 800+ new residential lots, in 2019 we delivered 900+. This year, 2019, we delivered 1,208 new residential lots across Victoria. That’s 1,208 families starting a new life through our efforts. In just the last 8 months we reported 973 new projects. Which is an average of 6 new projects per working day. (No wonder admin and project management have been busy this year.) And not project related but important to the business, we shared joy in the arrival of many new healthy babies, new pregnancy announcements, a couple of engagements, a wedding and many milestone birthdays. What a wonderful year of growth and achievement.

09.01.2022 Led by Dave, a handful from engineering visited the impressive M-City development in Monash looking at our involvement in civil engineering of roadworks and infrastructure augmentation to support the huge complex. It's very rewarding to see the physical works be delivered after so many hours of careful design and coordination with authorities and many, many stakeholders.

07.01.2022 Our green-thumb landscape team visited Plant Growers Australia to discuss with experts in the field the process of selecting and growing plans for all sorts of different applications including Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), followed by a visit to Transrock to explore rock types and costs for different landscape design application. Lead by our Landscape Manager, Jen Stone, the team soaked up the sun, immersed themselves in green and concluded the day with some hand sanitising before returning to the office.

The amazing generosity and enthusiasm of equestrian clubs, state bodies, businesses and individual families to get behind YVEP... shows the overwhelming need for this centre to happen. Many people and clubs have expressed the absolute pleasure the Hunt Club and its facilities has bought to them and their families over generations. Our $ for $ funding submission to government closes tomorrow so any additional pledges need to be in by tonight. Thankyou everyone. 03.01.2022 Civil Engineering - Mansfield case study Our design team knew this Mansfield road attracted a fair bit of stormwater runoff. So only two months ago when Mansfield was hit by 64mm of rain in a few hours, the extent of this was realised in real life. The pictures below speak for themselves.... The unusually shaped crossovers attracted some negative feedback, but, with sound understanding the behaviour of stormwater in events such as this, the crossovers were able to perform as an overland flow channel as designed. The new lots were not inundated with stormwater and were still being accessible. Happy client, very happy property owners.

03.01.2022 BEFORE lockdown - and AFTER lockdown. Incredible attention to detail by Elevation Property on this side-by-side, single story, two-lot development in Broughton Avenue, Croydon. You would be forgiven for thinking they are 3D renders... Like everyone, the last few months have been a roller coaster to say the least, but thankfully we have seen many clients such as Luke from Elevation Property able to continue to do what they do best - create exquisite living spaces.... If there is one thing we've learnt this year, it is that our team and our clients step up in uncertain circumstances. Well done Cass and Esmeralda from our team for bringing the full development potential of this property to life.

02.01.2022 Incredible presentation by Terry Dalgleish from South East Water who was instrumental in the science, design and roll out of Australia’s most sustainable residential estate, Aquarevo in Lyndhurst. As a partnership development between South East Water and Villawood Properties, Aquarevo won the UDIA Environmental Excellence Award for their ground breaking, dynamicly controlled rainwater to hot water system, monitored pressure sewer system, solar power and storage, and many many... other environmentally sensitive features. Aquarevo is an inspirational project pushing the boundaries and challenging how we manage water across its many forms. Thanks Terry, @southeastwateraustralia and @villawoodcommunities for having us.
