23.01.2022 Hi, Wide Bay folks. A couple of updates to make you aware of. Firstly, it’s been 10 days since we had a new confirmed case in Wide Bay, and this remains the sit...uation. Great job! Keep up that physical distancing. Secondly, to better respond to community presentation times, we’re temporarily changing our Hervey Bay fever clinic opening hours to 9.30am-5.30pm from tomorrow through to Monday. If this is successful, we’ll continue with these hours. Opening times will be 11am-5.30pm today. Following an announcement today by the Chief Health Officer, anyone with fever (or history of fever) or acute respiratory symptoms can be tested. If you’re unwell and you meet the above criteria, you should contact your GP, who can advise if you need to be tested for COVID-19. In the event of an emergency, call 000. For more information and the latest updates on COVID-19, visit www.health.qld.gov.au/coronavirus.

15.01.2022 We’re pleased to let everyone know that the farm worker who recently tested positive for COVID-19 has now recovered. In more good news, his 28 identified close... contacts who had been quarantined have also undergone further testing and have returned negative results. We’re really pleased with this outcome, but would urge people not to be complacent and to protect themselves and others against COVID-19 by continuing to practice good hygiene and distancing. We also continue to encourage our community to be tested for COVID-19 if they have the relevant symptoms no matter how mild such as runny nose, fever, fatigue, cough, sore throat, loss of sense or taste, or shortness of breath. Our COVID-19 fever clinics operate seven days a week in Bundaberg, Maryborough and Hervey Bay, from 9.30am-5.30pm. To find out more about testing, you can contact your GP or 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84), call ahead to one of our fever clinics or simply turn up. 10.01.2022 Wide Bay has one new confirmed case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The case is a male farm worker who has recently arrived in Bundaberg, after travelling int...erstate from Victoria, via Brisbane. He is doing well and is being appropriately isolated. The community can rest assured that contact tracing and follow-up testing of contacts is well under way, which means we are directly contacting and testing people considered to be at risk. Contact tracing is also under way for two flights Virgin VA313 (Melbourne-Brisbane, June 1) and Virgin VA2905 (Brisbane-Bundaberg, June 2). We ask that passengers of these flights, who have not already been contacted by Queensland Health, to call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) and advise that you were a passenger on this flight. We’ll communicate further if we have any more confirmed cases, or if it’s determined that there are any further risks to the public. The latest case is a timely reminder to get tested for COVID-19 if you have any cold- or flu-like symptoms, such as fever, fatigue, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath. Location and contact details for our fever clinics can be found at https://www.health.qld.gov.au//c/fever-clinics-information. We’d also like to remind our community to continue to follow the recommended advice from state and federal authorities with regard to social distancing, public gatherings and general wellbeing. Critically, make sure you are practising good hygiene and stay home if you’re sick. Washing your hands properly and often is the gold standard of health advice that can help prevent viruses from entering your body.
