23.01.2022 When should you start brushing your baby's teeth? As soon as as teeth appear, parents should brush twice a day with plain water. From around 18 months of age, introduce a smear of low-fluoride toothpaste. Always ensure your child spits out the toothpaste after brushing.... Fluoride in toothpaste helps to strengthen the tooth surface. Research also shows fluoride may reduce the bacteria sticking to teeth and limit their capacity for producing acid.
