23.01.2022 I wrote a procedure this morning which we use to quickly identify a property in the database Im working on by capturing and storing an image. The image is captured from Google Street view and directly pasted it into the database. Behind the scenes, there are some manipulations and conversions get what is captured converted into a .jpg format which is very space efficient and effective for storing real-life pictures, compared to the default format which is about 20 times larger. The database is a Microsoft Azure cloud based SQL server running on their most basic plan ($5/month). The frontend Im working in is Microsoft Access but all the data is stored in the Cloud.

22.01.2022 Wingman Integrated GPS tracking is looking good! The application has been ported to production and is now in testing. It is talking with the required inboxes and APIs seamlessly and securely. It sends SMSs and Emails. It integrates Flight schedule data and real-time travel and distance data. If you need people or things to be at certain places at certain times, you need Integrated GPS tracking.

21.01.2022 Nearing 5,000 views of this video which brings Google travel data directly into Excel (ultra simple and rather crudely written, but useful!). 7 thumbs up, 9 thumbs down (guess some people wanted a full-blown explanation on how to code it - thats what searching Google is for depending on your skill level. Im just about showing you whats possible). Just had a guy in the UK request it for an interesting purpose. Hes a shift worker and is supposed to get a fixed amount o...f time off between shifts and rotates between different work locations. However when shifts go long and depending upon which base he is working at, sometimes the time off gets reduced and its becoming a safety issue. So hes using the sheet to demonstrate to management the impact on the employees that their commutes combined with over-running shifts is having on time off. Good luck to him. 21.01.2022 I thought Id post a status update of what Ive been doing lately. Currently Im working on several projects for different clients. The main project Ive been working on for several months now is a software package that helps to manage the workflow for a company that specialises in distressed asset acquisition. Were using an Azure cloud based SQL server to do all the data management in conjunction with a Microsoft Access front end. Microsoft Access just cant be beat for ...rapid development and deployment for the cost. Im really proud of where its at and hope to demo it on Youtube in the near future. I also am doing some work for my other employer (Sigmacubed Inc) which involves expanding the Sales tracking module within their Engineering Operations Resource Planning software. The company had been using Salesforce, but from where I sit, Salesforce can be too much price for too little flexibility unless youre working with a large sales team selling fixed products. Sigmacubeds sales model is much more fluid, and typically involves selling customised services one at a time. My aim is to deliver for them a reliable tool for much lower cost that does what they need, and integrates with their other requirements. Theres also a couple of other things that I havent mentioned here but may do so in future postings.

14.01.2022 I've just received a delivery of rechargeable battery-powered magnetic devices which are perfect for when a power source isn't readily available or too difficult to make use of. They have a standby time of 120 days and working time of 7.5-10 days for the smaller devices, and double that for the larger versions. Pricing is $125/$150 respectively with 3 months of free server access. We can also optionally supply the SIM card service at low cost meaning these devices are ultra simple to use, all you have to do is periodically recharge them!

Anyone deal with lots of destinations and addresses, in Excel or something like that, and need this type of information but dont want to do hundreds of web searches? 11.01.2022 Wingman Smart GPS Tracking

09.01.2022 Have been trying a lot of different things to solve slow-query performance of a simple SQL query that retrieves a range of data based within a certain time period rom a large table (>26 million rows at present) - indexes, breaking out joined tables, etc. The ultimate solution that worked? Instead of using WHERE timefield BETWEEN @time1 AND @time2 just use ... WHERE timefield>=@time1 followed by DELETE FROM #table WHERE timefield >=@time2 Reduced query time from 20+ minutes to 15 seconds. Amazed I couldnt find this very simple solution during a bit of internet searching. BETWEEN is not your friend when the table size is large.

06.01.2022 This is a demonstration of an Excel spreadsheet I created for a client which took a couple of hours. It automatically scrapes data from a Foreclosure auction website. Using an automated web scraper like this can save a bunch of time when you are manually populating a large amont of web based data into Excel spreadsheets, databases etc.

But our trackers, discretely installed, and tracking website, could be the difference in tracking down your Bike. 01.01.2022 Mark and I put together a series of videos demonstrating Wingman. Wingman is an application that makes GPS tracking information smart for small businesses. It continually processes live GPS tracking information and job schedule information, and determines if there are potential job schedule problems, which are communicated back to the administrator through email and SMS. It has been developed for the high-end charter service/limousine industry, but is applicable across a wide range of small businesses, particularly those with multiple vehicles doing multiple scheduled tasks every day. Wingman is software that Mark uses for his business that fills in some of the gaps between his booking software and tracking software.
