25.01.2022 Our daffodils have risen once again at our Millingtons Mornington Memorial Garden. The daffodil is recognised internationally as the symbol of hope for all people affected by cancer. Cancer Council chose it as their emblem as the bright yellow colouring heralds the return of spring, representing new life and growth. Sadly, with nearly 150,000 Australians diagnosed with cancer every year, most people have been touched by cancer.... The Daffodil Day Appeal is Cancer Council’s most iconic and much-loved fundraising campaign. It is a day for Australians to come together and donate to help stop cancer.

22.01.2022 Why Funerals Matter. People need time to mourn the loss of family and friends. A funeral service fills this need and provides people with an important place to share in their grief and help the living say goodbye. Grief is hard, sometimes unbearable, but certainly doesn’t go away if we try to deny it happens.

11.01.2022 Mary’s Grange Aged Care Home in Taroona to close. Southern Cross Care Tasmania is pleased to announce acquisition of BUPA’s 119-bed South Hobart aged care facility, taking effect from December 1, 2020. We were provided with an opportunity to own and operate this amazing facility. We are pleased to be in a position to do this and secure the home for the residents, as well as Tasmanian jobs under Tasmanian ownership, Southern Cross Care Tasmania CEO Robyn Boyd said. ... We pride ourselves on the delivery of high-quality care in all of our aged care facilities and look forward to providing this at South Hobart as well Robyn Boyd said. As part of its review of operations associated with this acquisition, Mrs Boyd says Southern Cross Care Tasmania has made the decision to close Mary’s Grange Aged Care Home in Taroona. Residents will be offered the opportunity to move to a home of their choice, including South Hobart. There will be no changes to any fees, care services or provisions unless it is requested. Mary’s Grange currently houses 74 residents. We also want to reassure everyone that there will be no job losses due to the closure of the facility. One of the most important aspects of delivering high quality, individually tailored care is the environment it is delivered in. Mary’s Grange is coming to the end of its life as an aged care facility Robyn Boyd said. Michelle Baker, Regional Operations Director, Southern Region, Bupa Aged Care said we believe that Southern Cross Care, with a strong presence in Tasmania, is best placed to meet residents’ needs and has the local resources and support network to successfully operate the South Hobart care home, We have spoken to our residents and assured them they will continue to be cared for by the team of employees they know and trust, while being supported by a reputable local provider. Said Michelle Baker. Southern Cross Care want to reassure all residents, families, loved ones and staff members, that it will be business as usual, all staff will be retained and our attention will be on delivering quality care and a supportive environment for our staff to deliver that care, said Robyn Boyd. Our goal is to make sure the transition to Southern Cross Care will be as seamless as possible for everyone.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Huonville High School who are the lucky recipient of the $500 Millingtons / Huon Funerals Community Grant for August. The grant will be kindly donated to the World's Greatest Shave as the students at Hounville High School help "shave the world from blood cancer". This donation will go towards Aussie families facing blood cancer, the emotional and practical support they need, plus fund vital research....
