25.01.2022 Trimming down the lavender has been on my ever growing list. I started this job early last week but came a cropper when I stumbled across a wasp nest. Needless to say I reacted badly to the stings and developed a clear case of elephantiasis! 5 days later I can now move my arm and finish off the job I started. This little lot is being bundled up and will act as kindling for my wood burner this winter. No doubt the scent will bring a little summer back to the cool days ahead X #mysouthcoastkitchengarden #lavender #gardening

25.01.2022 Glad I chanced it by putting in some late lettuce seedlings and seeds. They are thriving in this heat. And the kids enjoyed picking some of the leaves for dinner #nofilterneeded #gardens #organicveg #veg #mysouthcoastkitchengarden

23.01.2022 We're doing a shared dinner with friends tonight so I'm on bread duty. The Rosemary focaccia is in the oven and I've not long pulled out these Easter bunny bread rolls for the kids. @alchemybreadco inspired me the other day by making these cute rolls for her family and friends. These are made with a straight dough, hydration 75% and I did pop the dough in the fridge over night for its bulk fermentation. My 5 year old and I are just putting the finishing touches to our little Easter tree..better late than never! Hope your all enjoying the break X

21.01.2022 Whilst I'm prepping for Saturday's workshop I spy out my kitchen window, 3 female bower birds enjoying the fruits of my labour. Running down I shoo them away and once again I hurriedly pick as many as I can. I'm sure they're sitting there watching me with a smile on their face, enjoying this game. And as I give these toms a quick wash I have to concede, the wildlife around here always seem to be on the winning side. #wildlifepatrol #mysouthcoastkitchengarden #organicveg #lastofthesummer

09.01.2022 It's the first day of school holidays and we are going to take it e a s y The kids have requested a pj day and I've just come down to the garden to look at planting in some root veg and brassicas. The herbs are putting on a last glorious show; the iridescent pink pineapple sage, the mustard tarragon flowers and the violet flowered Rosemary. Soon it will be time to trim these down for winter, but it's nice to enjoy them for a little longer. Enjoy your Monday folks X

07.01.2022 We couldn't have a workshop without cider cake ...

06.01.2022 Preserving the tomatoes has begun! I think I'll be doing at least three times as much of this but its a start. Next step is to add these jars to my lovely Vacola steriliser. I'm really looking forward to using this, as my previous pan, although tall enough was very narrow and it took me 10 times longer to preserve everything. The addition to the herbs on the top was inspired by one of you lovely lot and you'll have to forgive me as I can't remember who it was!..(ah ha! It was the lovely Kate from @foxslane that inspired me with the additional herb topping, when we pop the tops it'll be a lovely reminder of warmer days X)

03.01.2022 Some Friday fun, Highlights from the past 18 months! Loved every second of it. Enjoy your weekend folks X #milllaneworkshops

02.01.2022 Hello old friend. This sourdough recipe comes from @sarah_c_owens recently published book. It is packed full of wonderful breads and other seasonal recipes. This bread is appropriately called 'friendship loaf'. It's uses bread flour, rye, whole wheat and buckwheat, and has an 80% hydration level. Over the past year I had lost my sourdough mojo as I have been so immersed with teaching pre-ferments. It feels so good to be back. Thank you Sarah for always being truly inspiring.
