14.01.2022 hi and all our sympathies go out to everyone affected by bushfires. The impact on wildlife has been devastating.we support and reccomend WIRES for good advice and commend them on their fabulous work with wildlife. Koalas particularly are now critically endangered.we suggest that people provide water and maybe some feed for wildlife, away from domestic animals and crops, in order to help them thru these shocking conditions of drought and bushfires. on no account do we reccomen...d the killing of tiny joeys, eg roo or koala, that still need milk. water SHOULD be offered to animals found near a fire or just hot and dehydrated. exception being if bleeding from mouth or nostrils. water should be given slowly and carefully to avoid aspiration into the airways. if an injured, burnt or orphan animal or bird is found please contact a vet surgery, RSPCA or , in NSW, WIRES. wrap animal in a clean sheet or towel. keep in a quiet, pref dark environment, around 25 deg C. place a bird in a cardboard box, not cage, except for perhaps cockatoos which can tear up cardboard. 05.01.2022 $1000 REWARD offered for the return of both dogs. MISSING 1 MALE BORDER COLLIE DOG... 1 FEMALE BORDER COLLIE DOG A week ago 2 of our dogs wondered off out property near The Gums QLD and we havent seen them since. My husband was away so the kids and I have had a big week of searching. I drove for 3 and a half hours while the kids slept in the car, putting flyers in 35 of our closest neighbours mail boxes, banging steel peg signs in at both end of our road and putting posters all over the fuel stations, pig boxes, noticeboard and rural stores in Tara and The Gums. I've driven every fence line on our place twice, and called the council and the pound as well as put them on every facebook page and group I can think of My 2 year old son askes me at least 3 times a day if we can "go find Tuck, mum?" And it breaks my heart. It is assumed that these dogs have been picked up by a passer-by. This is a final plea to please return them. Or if something has happened to them, please just let us know, no questions will be asked, and no grudge held. We just want to know where they are. We have had a few "work-dogs" but every now and again you get a special one, a real mate This old black dog came everywhere with me, he even helped me keep my sanity during the 4 week wait in town for the birth of both my children loyally sleeping under the back steps of my hospital accomodation and doing endless loops on the Charleville "river-walk" with me. My husband found him ignorant to work with because he would not listen to him. (I loved that secretly). He'd work for me though; and would always come with me mustering; even when all the other dogs went with my husband. He gave me so much confidence when I was mustering on my own... and somehow (not sure if it was his skill or my prayers) he'd manage to keep that one "rogue brahman-x steer" in (there is always one) But best of all his patience and passive nature towards my kids was so precious and something I'd never seen in a working collie dog. As a result he was very loved by the kids and in particular my son. #bestmates #aboyandhisdog As you can imagine this also made him a good source of bribery for me (eat you breakfast, then you can go outside and play with Tux... hop in the car, so we can go home and see Tux... worked every time haha) Both of these dogs are missed so if you have any info please please let us know. 0423 360611 Thanks

03.01.2022 It's Deafblind Awareness Week. Did you know? People with both a sight and hearing impairment may wear a red and white checked band over their body, carry a red ...and white cane, or have a red and white checked harness for their guide dog? Graeme wears a red and white checked band across his body but finds that people rarely realise he is deafblind. This can add to difficulties in everyday life. For example, when travelling by bus, Graeme struggles to know where his travel card should be placed and he can't hear what the driver is saying if they try to direct him. Graeme has benefited greatly from having a guide dog. He says: "I am shocking with a cane! I was falling over things, bumping into things and walking into branches and things that were overhanging. I had many accidents. Someone suggested to me that I should contact Guide Dogs and the difference has been immeasurable." Having a guide dog also helped Graeme to get fit, lose weight and feel better about himself in general. Graeme also volunteers for Guide Dogs and is very involved with our Edinburgh engagement group. He says: "Without a dog I would be sitting around the house doing nothing." 02.01.2022 Would you know what it meant if you saw a Guide Dog with either a red and white or a blue and white harness flash? The photo on the left shows Cooper with a re...d and white flash on his harness. This indicates that the Guide Dog Owner has hearing loss as well as a visual impairment. The photo on the right shows working Guide Dog Hetty with a blue and white flash on her harness. Blue and white indicates that Hetty is also a seizure alert dog. Please like and share with your friends to build awareness of this!
