18.01.2022 Lest we Forget

17.01.2022 Due to stage 3 restrictions being implemented there will be NO TRAINING TONIGHT at RMIT. We understand that restrictions don’t officially start until midnight tonight but as we are located within the Whittlesea cluster zone of the northern suburbs we feel it is best that training does not proceed for everyone’s safety. We will provide further updates as they come to hand but due to the 7 day lockdown there will NO basketball games this Saturday 29/5/2021. Please take care o...f each and stay safe! Kind regards, Alicia - President & Boomers Committee

16.01.2022 Boomers Basketball Club sends our deepest condolences to Victoria Police & to the families of the four police officers that tragically lost their lives last night while on duty & serving the community. Like many local sporting clubs, our club has both current, past members & players who belong to the Victoria Police family and our thoughts are also with them at this sad time. Our thoughts also with the other emergency services who attended this tragedy, Ambulance Victoria, MFB & the good Samaritans who rendered first aid. Our hearts are broken with you Victoria Police

15.01.2022 If you are over 12 years old and do not have a medical condition that means you cannot wear a mask you must have a face covering on or with you whenever you lea...ve the house. There are lawful reasons to remove your face covering temporarily, but make sure you clean or sanitise your hands and replace the covering as soon as possible. Find out more about when a face covering may be removed, and how to make sure you are wearing yours correctly: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-masks-covid-19

08.01.2022 Yesterday, the Victorian Government made announcements relating to the easing of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this included allowing people to par...ticipate in outdoor activities or train in community sport in groups of up to 10 people (plus a coach / supervisor). Basketball Victoria supports this approach, as it recognises that sport and exercise play a critical role in the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of Victorians, but importantly this must be balanced with the risk of transmitting coronavirus. While this provides an opportunity for many of us to get back into participating in basketball outside of our home environment, Basketball Victoria wants to emphasise that how we all collectively act in the coming weeks will directly affect the health of our community and our sports ability to return to more regular indoor activity in the near future. We are being provided an opportunity to enjoy a level of sport and exercise outdoors in the short term, but we must not compromise safety, nor the reputation of the sport at this vitally important time. For those wishing to participate outdoors we suggest you refer to Basketball Victoria’s Outdoor Training Guidelines that have been developed in line with government restrictions and the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport. Should you choose to participate outdoors, have fun, but please do so in a safe and respectful manner. For a full update and guidance on outdoor activity / training - please visit http://basketballvictoria.com.au/covid-19/

08.01.2022 We hope all our Boomers enjoy the grand final albeit quite different to our usual grand final weekend! Good luck to both teams
