24.01.2022 Great news for everyone today with the State Government lifting restrictions. From midnight tonight, courts can be booked online through the Clubs website as usual. Competitions and coaching are back to normal from tomorrow also. There are some restrictions on Clubroom use for the moment, team captains will receive communication about how the rooms can be used for now. Happy hitting

24.01.2022 Wearing Of Masks From Thursday 23 July 2020, if you live within metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire, you must wear a face covering whenever you leave your home, unless an exception applies. A face covering needs to cover both your nose and mouth. It could be a face mask or shield. The directions of the Victorian Government state:... Participants 12 years and older must wear a face covering, unless an exemption applies. If you are doing strenuous physical exercise you do not need to wear a face covering but you must carry one with you. Strenuous exercise can include playing tennis. Coaches must wear a face covering when travelling to and from a venue and while on court unless the face covering impacts on your ability to deliver instructions or if the activity is strenuous. You must have a face covering on you at all times. Members, whilst masks aren’t required during social play, they must be worn before and after you finish playing. Once you step off the court, you must have your mask with you to wear immediately. Please have them in your pocket, ready to wear and not in the car.

22.01.2022 Dear members, As of midnight tonight, Friday the 12th, until midnight Wednesday the 17th, nobody will have access to the Club courts at Mill Park Drive in Mill Park or the Gordon’s Road courts in South Morang. Council have made the decision to shut facilities down for the next few days. Book-a-court will not allow bookings and the members keys will not get anyone into Mill Park Drive courts. Saturday NEJTA competition will not be played tomorrow. Tuesday men’s and Wednesday... ladies will also not be played. We have no information at this stage as to whether competition will make up or skip this round. Take care, look forward to everyone getting on court again in a few days. Stay safe See more

22.01.2022 Great news that State government is allowing tennis to resume in Melbourne from 11:59pm tonight (18th October)! This is very positive news however the club must wait for advice from local council before we can officially open the courts again.... Stay tuned!

22.01.2022 Update from NEJTA re Junior Pennant (AGL) Please respond directly to NEJTA via the email listed in their notification. Karen Ray... Junior Match Co-ordinator Mill Park Tennis Club. Hi Everyone, Whilst we are still in stage 4 lockdown, Tennis Victoria are hopeful for a reduced AJL / Junior Pennant Sunday morning representative competition, prior to the end of this year. If restrictions are eased and tennis competition is permitted, Tennis Victoria has now penciled in the 8th November for round 1. It will be a reduced 5 round only competition, with one week of finals. Whilst we know many players are keen to get back, competing on court, we do respect and understand the work-load on volunteers to grade teams, organise fixtures, team manage players, liaise with clubs to assist us with the provision of courts for play and to understand and adhere to government guidelines regarding return to play, social distancing, hygiene protocols, gathering numbers, registration of court visitors, travel restrictions, etc. Team entries will take all of this into consideration. With all this in mind, we need to assess how many players would still be interested to compete in the Sunday morning AJL season, if it was to run from the 8th November until the 13th December? Players who previously registered months ago, have all been sent an email this week. Can you all please email back a YES or NO to still playing, with your child's name, by this Friday 9th October. Please remember if you say YES, you are committing to being available for the full 5 matches. If you haven't already registered but are keen to be involved, (if competition is permitted to start), please email: [email protected] by end of day tomorrow, 9th October. Theo Robolas and Jacqui Mackertich AJL Coordinators 2020

19.01.2022 Return To Competition Whilst we hopefully return to competition soon, our tennis life will look very, very different! Some of which includes the following points! - Competition keys will be moved back into the keysafe on Monday 3rd August 2020.... - There will be NO social gathering before, during or after play! Basically you play & leave. - Club rooms can only be accessed for the purpose of turning competition lights on & off. And for emergency toilet use. Please note that the only toilet available is the disabled one. And all touch points used to access lights & toilet must be cleaned after every single use! Cleaning items are located on a table, right inside the club room entry door. - No bags can be stored in the room. Basically the less movement in the rooms, the less cleaning you are required to do!! - Gates to courts are to be left open, so multiple people do not touch gates. - Please sanitizer hands after every set. Sanitizer is located on the table, just inside the club room entry door. - No hand shaking at end if set. - Ensure drink bottles on court are kept 1.5 metres apart. - Change ends ensuring 1.5 metre distance is adhered to. - Score card to only be touched by 1 individual! And BYO your own pen to use! - Lastly, the club must record any spectators, so please ensure the register is completed. The register is located on the table, inside the club room entry door. Any issues or concerns can be directed to [email protected]

19.01.2022 Opening Of Courts The committee has received confirmation from the council that we can open our courts for Social Tennis and Coaching under strict conditions. These conditions are:-... - There is a maximum of 10 people PER FACILITY as a whole at any one time. It is the club’s responsibility to manage this strict number limit to ensure compliance. - Pavilions MUST remain closed except for access to toilet facilities. - No equipment hire or sharing permitted. - Social distancing must be practiced at all times. As such the committee has made the decision to open the courts at South Morang via Book A Court from 7:00 am Tuesday 20th October 2020. Limiting all play to singles only This provides the safeguard of keeping below the maximum 10 people threshold and also maintains a register of the main contact who made the booking for contact tracing purposes. Our facilities at Mill Park will be used exclusively by our Professional coaches during this time. During Current COVID-19 restrictions all Bookings must conform to the following as advised from Whittlesea Council. - Casual play singles only maximum two people per court - Using Sanitiser before and after play (provided inside each gate) - Tennis equipment must not be shared - Details of everyone entering a tennis facility must be registered for tracking purposes - Social Distancing is always to be adhered to. - No socialising at the courts - arrive, play, go home. Thank you for your continued support. Scott Lawrence Secretary.

Restrictions of singles play only. (2 on a court at one time, no spectators allowed). You MUST complete the section in the BAC that records who you are hitting with! This is imperative to do, for tracking purposes. If you do not complete this section then you can load the QR code on the gate, before entering the courts. 13.01.2022 NEJTA Junior Comp Update Please see below an update received from NEJTA. "In a press conference yesterday, the State Government announced their 'Roadmap to Reopening', a roadmap which outlines the series of steps to get Victoria back to ‘COVID Normal’.... According to that press conference, October 26 2020 is the earliest possible date that we can expect non-contact sports to resume in any capacity. Even if full competition was allowed to begin from that date, it unfortunately does not leave enough time for the NEJTA to be able to host even a half-season of seven games plus finals. As a result, it is with a great sense of disappointment that the NEJTA must announce the cancellation of the Spring 2020 season. We understand how frustrating this is to our players, spectators and volunteers, but we must adhere to directions issued and it is the Committee’s determination that community safety must be the first priority. The Committee will continue to monitor the situation and it is our hope that we will be able to host an NEJTA multi-round tournament later in the year if restrictions are lifted enough to allow it and it is safe to do so.'

13.01.2022 Court Closures Unfortunately Council have confirmed that with the introduction of Stage 4 Restrictions due to COVID-19, all outdoor sporting facilities are closed and recreational activities including tennis cannot be played. So effective immediately, we sadly have to close our gates again.... Stay safe all.

13.01.2022 NEW COVID-19 Stage 4 restrictions taking affect as of 6pm 2nd August 2020 Mr Andrews has declared a ‘state of disaster’ that begins at 6pm on the 2nd August 2020, giving authorities sweeping powers, that includes a nightly curfew for Greater Melbourne from 8pm to 5am. Under the stage 4 rules for Melbourne, people will be restricted to their suburbs, and only allowed to leave home if absolutely necessary, with a significant boost to policing to enforce the ban on movements. ...Only one person will be able to leave the home to buy groceries. People cannot travel more than 5km from their residence. Recreational activities will not be allowed - exercise for no more than an hour, close to home, is permissible. No groups bigger than two will be allowed. Until we hear from Tennis Vic and or Council, our venues will remain open with the only restriction of closing off court bookings from 7:30pm to 5am, every day of the week. When the club receives communication from Tennis Vic and or Council, I will communicate updates. Karen Ray Secretary Mill Park Tennis Club.

08.01.2022 AGM Update for Members Committee would like to provide you all with an update regarding the overdue AGM for the 2019/2020 membership year. As per the clubs current constitution, an AGM must be conducted within 5 months of the end of the membership year.... However, given the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, prior to the end of the membership year, the club sought an extension of this time frame from Consumer Affairs. I can report that this extension was granted. Before the reintroduction of Stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions, the club had intended on still holding the AGM at the club rooms. As the COVID-19 restrictions have once again tightened (returning to Stage 3 restrictions), the club will now be looking at conducting the AGM via a video platform. The committee will be finalising the AGM details at the next committee meeting. So stay tuned for further details. Once again the committee thank you for your patience and understanding.
