22.01.2022 Friends. Taylor, Sovereign and Sweetie enjoying afternoon tea in the stables. They’re all quite content to hang out together away from the cold weather.

19.01.2022 Such lovely light at this time of year

19.01.2022 Cobblestones. The lovely stables at Mill Pond Farm date from the very early 1840s and have survived in surprisingly good order for a 180 year old wooden buildin...g. One side was unfortunately burnt down in 1922, probably from candles in the loft where the stable boy slept. The surviving parts have three day stalls, a tack room and this loose box, where a horse could spend the night. Previous owners used this rather harshly to store super phosphate which went hard and ruined the floor. We had to use an excavator to remove it, and the current stage involves lifting and resetting all the 1840s cobblestones. It’s a big job ( a large stone fell on my finger...) but will be beautiful again soon See more

17.01.2022 Honey's always up for a ride in a Sunbeam :)

17.01.2022 Finally finished the mud room floor in the old maids’ quarters at Mill Pond Farm. This rather long project involved seasoning redgum posts for several years then cutting them up into 2"x 2" sticks, then slicing those into 2" blocks. Then the whole lot was glued to the floor piece by piece, caulked with sawdust and glue, and sanded. And sanded. And sanded. Those redgum blocks are really hard work! Then tung oiled and varnished. It will last for many years now :)

14.01.2022 Farewell Sweetie. Our loveliest little goat Sweetie whose been a great companion for the past 13 years at Mill Pond Farm left us this morning, with her family a...nd friends by her side. Goats are such affectionate creatures and Sweetie was just delightful, sensitive and gentle. Sweetie was 16, an impressive age for a little goat. We'll miss her enormously. See more

13.01.2022 On the road again. Gary and Jane Kendall’s lovely 1946 Renault Juvaquatre has undergone a thorough refurbishment with stunning new paint by Hugh Keirs, and me...chanical sorting by us, with lots of help from Brendon McGrath and Murray Robinson. Should see it often now on the streets of Braidwood See more

12.01.2022 The winter evening skies are pretty remarkable in Braidwood too!

12.01.2022 Taken now, thanks - five bales of fine quality Alpaca skirtings. We saved these to make dog beds, but haven’t found the opportunity. It’s not hard and might be ...a good project for someone. They are free but you must collect it within a week from Jembaicumbene, call Antony on 0438126987. First come first serve. See more

11.01.2022 Out and about in the 1924 Sunbeam 14/40. It’s just arrived back from having beautiful new upholstery and roof fitted by my favourite trimmer Norm Betts. Honey loves it too

11.01.2022 No matter how many times we photograph the Mill, we still get spectacular images every time. No wonder film-makers love the Braidwood district.

11.01.2022 Out and about in the 20hp Sunbeam. It really does fly....

10.01.2022 Cobblestones coming along. Just a couple of extremely big ones to go, then repair the roof and reinstate the wall slabs....

10.01.2022 A quick run down Monga Lane to test the revised timing on the 1924 Sunbeam 14/40. It’s really quite zippy now

09.01.2022 Winter garden at Mill Pond farm. After the past few months, winter is just gorgeous down here

06.01.2022 Big Skies. Another of Andrew's stunning shots of the Mill on a lovely Autumn morning. The Braidwood district has for decades been a favourite for photographers and film makers, and this is why...

05.01.2022 Coming up shortly - we're moving, and soon our Millpond Farm facebook site will change to reflect our new project, Pennyfeather - Vintage Motoring specialists. Please don't be alarmed as our sites move over, you haven't been hacked :) Andrew and I will be focusing our efforts on veteran and vintage cars and accessories, in the lovely setting of historic Mount Elrington near the Shoalhaven River at Farringdon, and caring for our rather large family of alpacas, horses, goats and sheep. More to follow soon.......

05.01.2022 Bit chilly at Mill Pond Farm this time of year, but the mornings are stunning...

03.01.2022 Frosty start to the day. We're having cool nights and crisp mornings, with rolling fog until about 10am, then amazing sunny days. Such a lovely time of year.

02.01.2022 Not sure if this is precisely what the Sunbeam factory intended for the luggage carrier, but the car didn’t seem to mind

02.01.2022 Had the pleasure of driving in Alec & Teresa Piggott's stunning 1928 Sunbeam 20hp sports saloon today, which is staying at Mill Pond Farm for a few months. For a 92 year old car, it is amazing. Over 65mph on the Majors Creek Road (it wasn't me driving!), with brakes and steering to match. I think we need another car :)

02.01.2022 Test driving in the 1928 20hp Sunbeam. This car has a very lightweight Weymann fabric body, like a Sopwith Camel, and lots of aluminium parts, with a 3 litre six cylinder overhead valve engine, so really very quick. Unusually for 1928, there is a vacuum servo assisting the mechanical brakes, so it can stop like a modern car. It's also almost completely silent except for a mild induction noise from the carburettor. Amazing.
