23.01.2022 Western Cup The sun was shining bright on Stage 3 students as they enjoyed a day out of the classroom to attend the Western Cup touch football day. The girls and boys teams performed brilliantly and showed great determination against some very skilled opponents. Both teams improved immensely as the day went on but were knocked out in the quarter-finals. Thank you to the parents who transported us to and from the event. A wonderful day, enjoyed by all! 23.01.2022 Wonderful Wellbeing Week This week students and staff celebrated our wellbeing week in style. Footsteps dancing proved a great way to start each day. 22.01.2022 Canteen Kathy This is Mrs Kathy Fardon who works in our busy school office. Kathy’s favourite colour is pink and her favourite book to read is "Not Now Charlie'. Kathy started working at Millthorpe Public School this year and is the reason our school canteen is back open. He is currently teaching a Stage 2 class and a member of staff who is interested in wellbeing. Mr Mason enjoys spending time out in nature through bush walking and gardening. 13.01.2022 Millthorpe Musical Mayhem There were glitter and costumes flying as we took to the stage to film our end of year performance. Things were done a little differently this year, but we still managed to choreograph some outstanding class performances with the help of Matt Begbie, our videographer. 11.01.2022 Education Week 2020 - Learning together In the garden I like helping all the students plant seeds and seedlings. I like watching the plants grow bigger and bigger each week - Archie While official events for National Tree Planting day were cancelled this year, MPS garden club has celebrated by planting seeds donated by Bunnings, Orange. They are staying warm in 3/4H until big enough to join our little garden.... Blayney Shire Council have also donated 40 native shrubs and grasses that will be cared for by the students. After 28 years at MPS and a career spanning even longer, Mrs Gardiner is taking leave before planning to retire in 2021. 06.01.2022 Reduce reuse recycle Millthorpe Public School is working on the reduction of soft, single use plastics through the SRC’s implementation of Nude Food week. Our rubbish bins are nearly empty as students bring their lunch in reusable and recycled containers. Thank you to the Millthorpe community for assisting with this initiative! 03.01.2022 Mini fete extravaganza! Squeals of excitement, loud laughter and even some screams of terror were heard during this afternoon’s Year 6 Mini fete. The senior students did an outstanding job running some amazing stalls for the entire school to enjoy whilst fundraising for a gift to the school. There was face painting, coloured hair, lolly bags, ice blocks, guessing competitions, target shooting and more! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed water bombing a teacher and were scared senseless in the haunted house. Well done Year 6! Stage 3 Teachers
03.01.2022 Class of the week 3/4M are class of the week this week. They have been writing detailed information reports based on flowers, inspired by their science where they are learning about plants. They have also been using their problem-solving skills when completing different challenges with the robotics kit and multiplication. The strength of the Blayney High School art program is showcased by each student as they develop their personal style for expression. A variety of media is represented including photography, charcoal, acrylic paint, water colour and ink.
03.01.2022 Fun Friday! Yesterday was jam-packed with fun for our Stage 1 incursion. Students started the day with museum in a box, being immersed in the ways of the past from quoits to washing boards. This was followed by an engrossing presentation on mini beasts where they got up close and personal and even tasted some creepy crawlies. They also got creative while learning about celebrations around the world. After a crazy day the students definitely earned some time to kick back and relax with a movie. 02.01.2022 A beautiful time of year! It is that time again! We are very excited to meet the students who are on their journey to starting school at MPS in 2021! Today the children started their first week of Kinder Orientation. We focused on welcoming families and building relationships amongst the children, parents, carers and teachers. 01.01.2022 Class of the week This week’s class of the week is KF. We have been exploring the wonders of the world and having a blast doing it. On Friday we ventured through the woods in our pyjamas for a teddy bears’ picnic. We then discovered the wonders of the ocean and performed ‘Under the Sea’. 01.01.2022 Runaway success Last Thursday we held our annual cross country carnival. Students across the school enjoyed participating in the wonderful autumn sunshine.
