14.01.2022 Ladies!! Diastasis Recti!! I have posted this for your information. ... This is something I have and my gap is about 3.5cm. I had never heard of it before and had no problems after my first birth with Isaac. It was about 6 months after giving birth to Luca that I looked in the mirror and thought farrrrrrkkkkkk I can't be pregnant again - but I still had this bulge, I was really disappointed with the way I was progressing in my journey to getting back into shape. Admittedly I had only been back exercising for a few months but I felt I was looking worse. Like anyone I got on google and found this thing called diastasis recti. I did the at home test and was surprised to feel this huge gap. I went to the doctors to get it checked out and ask some questions - of course the answer I got was with my gap surgery was the cure. I left the doctors knowing very well I was not going to pay for surgery. So I started researching and reading and realised crunches etc was the worse thing for it so I stopped doing any sort of abdominal exercises and just stuck to my cardio etc. I'm still reading and finding new things on how to fix it. What I'm realising is there is no quick fix but there is such a thing called baby pouch. I use to laugh when ladies would talk about still carrying their baby fat - but due to this not being that well talked about (I don't know why) I now understand that some ladies most likely have this and are feeling disheartened because they aren't loosing their baby weight when they could well be doing more harm then good by doing sit ups every day to shed it. So please have a read and share it with mums. Mine is getting better and I'm not a doctor nor qualified and my body is different to yours. But I am doing some things they recommend some they don't because I want to test it for myself as like I said surgery wasn't an option for me. Remember our bodies carry our children for 9 months so don't expect getting back into shape is going to take any less. Some ladies walk out of giving birth looking like they've never even given birth, some walk out like they have given birth to triplets. We are all different so don't sweat it. Since giving birth to Luca I haven't weighed myself once. Why? Because I don't need scales to tell me how I feel. Some nights I look in the mirror and think yuk some nights I look in the mirror and think yeah cool I'm getting there again. My advice would be leave the scales for a while just feel good in the fact your trying. If you need a pick me up - from me to you your doing great and you look great whatever your goal may be you'll get there just don't give up. Move with Millzy
