21.01.2022 Hi Members Thanks for your patience with the inspiration folder for the February theme of Looking Up, Looking Down. Hospitality has been pretty crazy the last few weeks!... This is not an extensive range of images as the Theme is pretty self explanatory - we're looking for high angle or low angle images. The full definition is provided in the comments below, but please remember that drone images are NOT permitted. If you have any questions, please message me or ask them in the comments. Thanks all, and have fun looking at your subjects from new perspectives! Anna

20.01.2022 . LEARNING ACTIVITY - SEASCAPES Hi Folks... The learning activity this month is intended to assist you with the October theme: By The Sea. This main video is from an Australian-based photographer - Andrew Marr - and probably has the broadest relevance to our membership. Below there is a playful video full of ideas for experimenting with your photography by the sea, and a couple of videos with more advanced techniques. I hope you find something useful and inspiring here. As always, have fun with it! Cheers Anna

20.01.2022 . Followers of this page will be aware that Milton Ulladulla District Camera Club recently announced its annual award winners for the 2019/20 Competition Year. We are holding over the presentation of most of the awards until the COVID19 situation improves and we are able to meet face to face. We will present the winners with book prizes for these awards.... However, two of our prizes are perpetual in nature and need to be returned at the end of the following competition year - the trophy for the annual Club Champion and the Ron Doughton memorial framed photograph award for contribution to the Club. So we have taken the opportunity to present Club Champion Trish Curotta and Ron Doughton winner Jane Milojevic with their awards now so that they may enjoy them for the year. Congratulations both.

Have fun getting creative this month! Cheers Anna

17.01.2022 LEARNING ACTIVITY FRAMING Hi folks With your images due for the August Competition (Macro Theme and Open) due by Monday, some members will have already turned their attention to next month’s theme: Framed.... While COVID19 prevents us having our usual face to face learning activities on the second Monday of each month, we’re going to introduce a virtual version through our Facebook page, starting with the Framed theme for September (images due by 14 September). Each month I’ll provide some learning materials that will assist with the upcoming theme. I’ll still be providing the usual inspiration folders on here as well, but a few days after the tutorial. So, let’s get started! Framing is a key compositional technique. It is also sometimes called ‘frame within a frame’ or ‘sub-framing’. This video is an excellent introduction to framing because it highlights many different ways you can frame your subject, including some that you might not have thought of such as colour, background and light. In the comments below you will also find a couple of links to some written material on framing, one specifically using phone cameras. I have also provided a copy of the guidelines for our Framed theme. I’d love your feedback on providing the learning sessions this way, particularly whether you find it helpful and if there are any ways you think it can be improved. Have fun with framing! - Anna

17.01.2022 LEARNING ACTIVITY - SHADOWS AND SILHOUETTES - NOVEMBER 2020 THEME There are some excellent tips for taking silhouette photos in this video, including information on camera settings, composition, negative space, movement, point of view and processing. The supporting article is useful too.... I have a couple of other helpful pieces which I'll add in the comments below. Have fun with it! - Anna

12.01.2022 . MARCH THEME: STRAIGHT OUT OF CAMERA Hi members... Just a quick post to let you know that there will be no inspiration folder for next months theme, because there really are no limitations on your images whatsoever other than that they cannot be altered in any way - either in your camera or device or in post processing. The straight out of camera (SOOC) theme encourages you to produce great images without editing. The only adjustments you are permitted are converting from RAW (if you shoot in this format) and resizing them as per the specifications for DPI competitions. Images are due to the club email correctly sized and named by midnight on Monday 9 March. There are a few more pointers and details below that you might find helpful. Cheers Anna

07.01.2022 Hi Folks Below is a link to the 47 finalists in the 2020 National Photographic Portrait Prize. Usually I head off to the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra to see the exhibition in person (not to mention one of my favourite Canberra buildings and gift shops!), but viewing the images as a slideshow on your computer is probably the next best thing!... Enjoy and stay well, Anna Photo credit: Klarissa Dempsey - Wonder
