19.01.2022 I remember visiting Milton vineyard in April 2015 with Tim Goddard from Cool Wine and some wine grape growers from Oregon, U.S.A. Michael Dunbabin showed us his... Shiraz fruit on the vines which looked and tasted great. Here is the wine 5 years later, and boy it looks good. Its a classic cool climate Shiraz with zesty Mulberry fruit, white pepper spice and a lively, vibrant palate. It was perfect with char grilled lamb rump and chargrilled leeks. 18.01.2022 To keep you updated on all things East Coast during isolation- we have started blogging! Heres the first instalment: Hi Everyone, As I was putting boxes together to pack your latest wine orders I thought about how you might remember your visits to Milton and the glorious East Coast of Tasmania. Its very quiet here now especially on the weekends. A little cooler at night too, enough to justify lighting the fire and feeling cosy. Once daylight savings ends the weather slips ...into autumn with all the brilliance of the foliage and lovely still sunny days. Most days are beautiful with 16 to 20 degrees and loads of sun but not the burning sun of summer. We think of curries soups and long slow cooked meals. The local oysters are at their best too with the cooler water temperatures. The die hard ocean swim group at Bicheno are still at it. Every morning early a swim around the bay. Brrr. We are enjoying having the time to reflect and appreciate our surroundings with less distractions and hope this a good time for all to evaluate what is around us and appreciate the calmness. We have decided to produce a regular blog, to keep you in touch with our vineyard, the East Coast, and Tasmania. Milton Vineyard, Swansea was first farmed in 1826 initially for extra fi...ne Tasmanian wool but is now producing fine cool climate wines. We are located at 42 Degrees South on the dry sunny Freycinet Coast of Tasmania. The grapes are grown on free draining red loam liberally sprinkled with dolerite rocks with great results. Our vineyard has a unique micro-climate that suits the ancient grape Pinot Noir and lately Syrah has proven very successful.
