I took the dog for a run Also my heart just melted because I received a few photos from my sons dad of Cohen. The playgrounds in Melbourne just opened and he is living it up. His smile is so big and he looks super duper happy with himself. Awww bless ... It’s definitely the small things in life right now that seem to be getting everyone including myself through each day. 12.01.2022 To anyone out there who has convinced themselves that they had to be painting their whole life to be an artist I’m here to tell you that Is 100% not true. I mean I didn’t start painting until I was in my 20’s! To anyone who thinks you had to have nurturing and / or creative parents to be an artist.. Nope! Not true again. Art was forbidden in our home. I was never encouraged as a child or teen. Yet I’m so grateful for how fabulous I turned out and how my experience has giv...en me an unrelenting hunger and desire to create that I believe I would not have if I had a different childhood. To anyone out there who thinks you have to be ‘Good’ at art to create! That’s a big mother Fuck No to that one too. Mate, to be honest I was never gifted or talented as a child. Ever. At anything! I just started painting and creating because It brought my heart joy. Once I opened that creative portal I realised that painting as much as I could started healing me. I believe like anything you do consistently in life , if you practise every day it is inevitable that over time you will get better. It’s as simple as that. Daily Habits become daily rituals and those rituals help sculpt us into the people we want to become. Creativity is transcendent. Creativity is healing. Liz Gilbert had a brilliant point when I was listening to her podcast last week. She mentioned that when people say but I’m not creative that they should swap that word ‘creative’ for the word ‘curious’. This makes so much sense and of course Everybody is curious! So ...To anyone that wants to paint / draw / write/ pick up an instrument / sing / anything creative but you keep listening to the monkey chatter and talking your self out of it? Take a deep breathe and speak directly to the voice inside your head that wants you to stay safe and say out loud ‘thank you very much but kindly fuck off for today. I hope you get a few minutes to Lose yourself in the process. Play. Have fun. And remember to always stay ‘curious’ it’s the key to unleashing your creativity.
