22.01.2022 Ashes to Oceans - a series of found objects, burned driftwood, shells, cuttlefish, sponge, seaweeds and old banksia seeds...strung to create a mobile memory of a part of our history. To this day burned driftwood washes ashore. It’s a stark reminder of the trauma our bush, animals and people went through. For many months and still now on occasion, ash washes ashore on the tides...although much less than before. I have made many and have strung one at every cottage and many around my garden. They are truly a moving mobile of curiosity, a reminder that things never stay the same.
