25.01.2022 I still remember my ex boyfriend when I was like 16 saying girls shouldn’t drive manual because when they push the clutch in their leg looks fat We are so conditioned by words and our behaviours mimic this for years and cause so much distress on ourselves . 21.01.2022 When you think about exercise what’s your first thought ? Do you have to or do you want to ? I think we are all old enough to acknowledge the benefits of exercise on our bodies but the type of exercise you do will change your perception of if you have to or want to. For years I admired incredibly fit people doing high intensity workouts and I still do but every time I did one I felt like shit - it wiped me out for the whole day and I would get headaches . Now I’m compl...etely aware that there is a point where that all gets better and easier as you continue to get fitter but more importantly I didn’t enjoy it and I thought it was the only way to look like the girl with booty shorts and abs - you know the old light weights, high reps for girls narrative I got so sick of classes at the gym and just started doing my own thing and experimenting I started to discover I enjoyed feeling strong, really fucking strong. I am sure how I was going about it was less than optimal but it opened the doors for me to discover what I loved . There is no exercise or form of gym training you HAVE to do outside of rehab or sport specific. 19.01.2022 I’ve been thinking about something a lot lately and I always joke and say no good decisions are made before you are 30 - I personally feel like I wasn’t really sure who I was until then, where I was going and the person I wanted to be . Unfortunately without all the hard lessons I learnt in my 20s the woman I am now wouldn’t exist . The same can be said about my fitness journey & weight loss without having spent a long time tracking calories, steps, meal prepping and eating ...out of Tupperware I wouldn’t be who I am now and able to go weeks or months without tracking . Not stress about my step count and have acceptance within my body now and not be married to the number on the scale . Along the journey I also spent a lot of time working on myself mentally, the reality is any further changes to my physique are a result of the habits that make me feel good as a person not with weight loss as the driver . 16.01.2022 Transformation pic of a different kind On the left I was coming off my comp feeling on top of the world, spray tan game strong, golden lighting and feeling myself while fuelling myself nutritionally and mentally Today - no tan, sub optimal lighting, up approx 1.5-2 kgs, single handedly keeping Uber eats in business, hardly training or moving my body & I think I’ve seen every reel ever made . ... That includes current training, nutrition, work, social life and if you have kids (the 3 hours it takes to put them to bed because they wanna jump off the bed 1800 times) You need to consider all of these components as they all play their role in recovery and ability to adhere consistently to a plan . 09.01.2022 Why does a trainer need a coach and how I decided on my coach . First of all you are never too advanced to have somebody looking over your exercise selection, technique or even just being able to asses your program or progress without any emotional attachment. As a trainer I can asses my clients without any emotional attachment and be able to progress them on the capabilities I see without any internal thoughts of limiting belief . Having a coach does the same for me, prior t...o signing up with Bec I would program hop and change numbers up constantly and was very much spinning my wheels . How to choose the right coach : For me it was about finding somebody I respected and trusted in the industry, someone who was intelligent without being arrogant and who’s values aligned with the way I want to train and feel . Performance based goals over aesthetic based . I also needed somebody I can communicate with and feel comfortable questioning and over all just enjoy spending time with as there’s nothing worse than training with somebody for an hour or more and it’s just awkward . Pictured is our session yesterday where we spent a good chunk of it laughing and learning Not every coach will be right for you and that’s ok but I encourage you to look at whole picture not just price or their perceived value (insta followers etc ) and find a coach who makes you better not just tired . 09.01.2022 Due to high fatigue, personal stress and change of routine a lot of my habits have fallen wayside and I’ve had a few blow outs .. the benefit to all the hard work I’ve put in over the past few years is that I no longer have an on or off mentality when it comes to my nutrition or fitness. 02.01.2022 Hip Thrusts To set up you want to make sure your bar and bar pad is cantered, your back is against the bench at just below your scapula or bra line for reference. Feet are in position so at the top of the rep your legs are at 90 degrees- if your feet are closer or further away you will recruit more quads or hamstrings. ... Keep that chin tucked and your eyes locked on a spot so when you reach the top of the rep you don’t hyper extend into your lower back . 01.01.2022 A big day today at my first powerlifting comp held at Paragon . A huge thank you to my coach @becchambersfit for all of her support in and out of training - I got 8/9 of all my lifts and loved every second of the day Squat - 109kgs... Bench - 47kgs Deadlift - 114 kgs Total = 270kgs I competed alongside some amazingly strong women today and it was such a great day - I can’t wait to compete again and keep getting stronger.
