20.01.2022 MINDFUL MONDAY This Qigong meditation follows the progressive order of the Five Elements, the order of nature, which is an ancient understanding of the natural world. It’s expressed and experienced through the consistent movement and transformation of our environment and the elements are interrelated and influence each other. Metal (lungs) become molten, creating water (kidneys), from which then grows wood (liver), creating fire (heart), forming ashes, representing earth (s...pleen), from there we dig metals (lungs). We humans are also integral in this cycle of life. Take some time to practise this Qigong meditation recorded by Mandy. Let us know how you go. https://soundcloud.com/user-/five-element-qigong-meditation

19.01.2022 WEDNESDAYS are for WOMEN’S HEALTH Awareness It's Frocktober and I have been wearing a different dress for the 31 days of October for Ovarian cancer awareness. This is an uncomfortable challenge for me but in the name of women's health, I've frocked up in order to raise some dollars for Ovarian cancer life-saving research! So far, I've worn a frock in the bush, climbing a mountain peak, on the bike, up a pole, camping by a fire, teaching Qigong! Frocktober is the campaign th...at empowers women around Australia to channel their creative flair through their favourite frocks, all while raising urgently-needed funds for the OCRF’s innovative research projects that help to shine a light on ovarian cancer. If you can spare a donation, the link is https://www.frocktober.org.au/my-fundraisi//amanda-j-hogan A few not-so-fun facts...... -Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynaecological cancer. -There is no early detection test. -Every 8 hours, an Australian woman dies from ovarian cancer. -The average 5-year survival rate for ovarian cancer is just 46% -If caught in Stage 1, survival rates for ovarian cancer patients are as high as 92%. However, only 19% of cases are diagnosed early due to vagueness of symptoms and lack of an early detection screening test. -The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague, and may not even present significantly until the cancer has advanced. Symptoms can include persistent or sudden onset of: bloating and abdominal swelling, appetite loss or feeling full quickly, tiredness, unexplained changes in weight, change in frequency of urination An early detection test will save 8000 women over the next decade & you can help to make that happen.

14.01.2022 Saturday, April 24-today we are celebrating World Tai Chi & Qigong Day! Tai Chi and Qigong are gentle forms of mindful exercise that integrate body and mind by creating movement meditation and internal energy flow. The practices involve physical and energising movements that help to create a healthier, calmer, creative and more peaceful self, and thus guide our own impact in the world. ... The greeting of the Tai Chi salute right fist and left palm, has a long traditional and cultural history, and is used to show respect, gratitude and honour to you and to others. It is a way to show equality between people. Salute- the right fist is a symbol of your inner strength and resilience, the left open palm and fingers are a symbol of our friendship and need for community, and the bent left thumb is a symbol of our humility. I offer my ‘Salute’ to the healing benefits this practise has offered me over the past years which restored my strength, energised my desire to teach others, and taught me the humility in knowing that none of us are experts in this life. MindBody Exercise Studio Wangaratta offers morning, evening and outdoor sessions and an upcoming Winter Sunday Workshop (date tbc) https://www.hoganhealth.com.au/ser/restore-balance/tai-chi/
