And thats right on top of the Vagus Nerve. (VN) TMJ work creates a big stimulation for the Vagus Nerve (VN) - our big parasympathetic cranial nerve. Stimulation of the VN creates an anti-inflammatory response in our gut and also stimulates the lymphatic system as the VN innervates main lymphatic structures such as the Thymus gland, Mesenteric lymph nodes (clearing the intestines and stomach, amongst others) and Peyers Patches (also in the gut). 21.01.2022 Bowen Therapy has shown to be a powerful treatment for Sciatica. Sciatica can be a very debilitating condition and often tricky to treat. Sciatica is a term use...d to describe nerve pain in the leg that is caused by irritation and/or compression of the sciatic nerve. Sciatica originates in the lower back, radiates deep into the buttock, and travels down the leg, following the path of the large sciatic nerve. There are many different types of nerve pain that this condition can cause, burning, shooting, tingling, or numbness. Generally, the person experiences an overall sense of weakness in the area. Sciatica can be caused by a number of factors such as a herniated lumbar disc, lumbar spinal stenosis, lumbar degenerative disc disease, Spondylolisthesis, muscle spasms (particularly Psoas or Piriformis), Sacroiliac joint dysfunction, or Spinal Tumours. Doctors have a limited capacity to deal with sciatic and often prescribe the patient anti-inflammatory and pain medication and/or quartertone injection, then refer them on. Unfortunately, for many persons, this may lead to an endless stream of treatments achieving limited relief. Many Bowen Therapists have shared their experience with countless clients suffering from this condition and have had months of treatments with little resolve. Both patients and Bowen Therapists are often astounded at how quickly the Bowen technique can work. Sue Reed a registered nurse shares her experience, I work in a large building that houses 115 elderly residence. There is a lot of walking around, 2 levels and long corridors. There is an incredible amount of paperwork and at times I spend long hours sitting. It is a lot to manage and my stress levels waver and during this time my sciatic plays up. Sometimes I cant even lift my leg to go up the stairs or bend over to tie up my shoelaces, without feeling excruciating pain. 05.01.2022 Bowen Therapy saved my life When I was in my 20s I was living a very chaotic existence and was under a lot of stress. I developed extreme jaw pain and was dia...gnosed with neuralgia. Which is where the muscles contract on the nerves. I had been in agony suffering for three days, which might not sound like a lot, but it was so excruciating that I was in a fetal position moaning and rocking. In complete despair, I tried a number of treatments and all kinds of pain killers and nothing was working. And so, in my absolute desperation, I called a friend who suggested I try Bowen Therapy. I had never heard of it, so I called the Bowen Therapist that she recommended and booked in. On the way there I remember thinking to myself, if this doesn't work, Im going to kill myself! It sounds crazy, but the pain was so intense that I just couldnt bear it any longer, and wanted it to end. I arrived at the therapists' clinic and she had me lay down on the table and began doing these very subtle moves with her hands which was actually very soothing. Less than halfway through the session, the pain started easing, and I burst into tears! I was so grateful that I didn't have to go home and kill myself. I had about five or six more sessions, and it completely restored my jaw condition. On top of that, I had muscular pain in my calves for as long as I could remember, and it relieved that condition as well! The experience was so profound and had such an impact on my life that I decided to study the therapy. Its absolutely amazing that a Bowen Therapist can do some small tweaks, with love, care, and a gentle touch to help resolve someone's pain. There really is no condition that I have come across that cannot be supported or resolved with Bowen Therapy.
