22.01.2022 Lest we forget. Millions of horses and other animals served during wartime. This image was taken in 1915 and it shows the tribute hundreds of First World War soldiers paid to the horses who died fighting by their side.

17.01.2022 Lola and I hit the road at the start of the week and visited the residents at the Royal Freemasons aged care facility in Sale. There are currently over 110 residents at the facility and many have lived in the Gippsland area for most of their lives. Many are also from farming backgrounds and have owned or had previous contact with horses. The design and layout of the premises was perfect as it allowed for Lola and I to walk around the outside of the resident’s rooms and eithe...r meet them at their door, or stick our heads into the rooms to say hello. It was amazing to be part of this experience and witness how the residents would literallylight up when in the presence of Lola. Horses can provide an emotional and sensory environment for people and being in the presence of a horse can also evoke feelings. I certainly got to see first hand the positive impact this had with the residents and I personally loved hearing their stories about their experiences with horses. Thank you to the staff and residents at the Royal Freemasons in Sale. It was an absolute pleasure spending an afternoon with you all.
