24.01.2022 Our yoga cards provide the perfect opportunity to bond with your little one while stretching and moving your body. Thanks @caley_q for sharing these gorgeous pics

22.01.2022 The booklets have arrived and they’re . Each pack of yoga cards will now include an informative booklet which details ways to use the Mindful Munchkins cards.

20.01.2022 YOGA POSE SNAP Number of players- 2 or more HOW TO PLAY... Shuffle two packs of yoga cards. Deal out the cards to all players as even as possible. (Make sure that they are face down in front of the player) Taking turns, each player quickly turns over their top card and places it face up into the middle. The player must place their card on top of the card that was previously placed down. When a player turns over a card that matches the card on top of the pile, all players must quickly form that yoga pose, while calling out ‘yoga snap’. The first player to form the pose, receives all the cards from the pile. The winner of that round then starts the game again. The player that runs out of cards is out of the game. The player that is left with yoga cards is the winner.

20.01.2022 Hopscotch Yoga Arrange hula hoops into a hopscotch board. Place a pile of yoga cards into a container at the end of the board. The children should take turns hopping through the hoops. When they reach the end of the board, they select the top card and do the pose displayed. My tips... For larger groups, set up two hopscotch boards so two groups can play at once. Younger groups may need help choosing the cards after all that hopping! Select a helper from the group each round to pick the card from the pack (or have the instructor do so). See more

19.01.2022 This little yogi has been loving our yoga cards and she’s only 2.5 years old. The colourful illustrations and simple rhymes make it super fun for children to learn the poses. Doesn’t she just look so adorable practicing cat/ cow pose! Soo cute Thanks for sharing @toddleractivitiesathome

18.01.2022 I’m feeling so grateful to be back sharing the Mindful Munchkins’ yoga shows. It was such a delight to see the children so engaged on our creepy crawly yoga adventure. Can’t wait to share another adventure very soon

18.01.2022 How do you engage 30 four year old children in a yoga class?? Use props!!!!I I carry along a suitcase full of props to use in all my classes. We use them in our games, songs and adventures. I’d say my most used props are scarves and ribbon sticks. What do you use to keep your little yogis engaged??

16.01.2022 The information booklet to be included with our yoga cards is about to be sent off to the printer. Whooo!!

16.01.2022 These colourful scarves would have to be my most used prop in class. We balance them on our head in standing poses, they become a sail in boat pose and they make the perfect blanket for our final resting pose. What are some of your favourite props to use in your yoga class with kids?

16.01.2022 Toe-ga race Place different coloured spots into each cup of the egg carton. Scatter pom poms in the middle of the group. Make sure to use coloured pom poms that match the coloured spots you have used in the egg cups.... Give each child 1 or 2 egg cartons. Have children race to see who can fill their egg carton/s first by picking up a coloured pom pom with their toes and placing it in the matching coloured egg cup. See more

16.01.2022 How good do these spice paints look on our colouring pages!! I simply added a tablespoon of white paint into each jar and mixed it with 3 different spices. I used turmeric, paprika and cacao to create these earthy tones but you could try anything you have in the pantry. This mindful experience provides opportunity to discuss colour, scent and texture as they explore the paints. Have your child add more spice to the paints and discuss what they observe.... You could also use water instead of white paint and discuss the difference in colour.

14.01.2022 Do you notice something different about our frog pose card? Yep, you guessed it!! Our pack of cards will soon be featuring some new characters. Same poses- just new faces To celebrate the new release, we will be giving away a pack to 3 lucky followers, so stay tuned.... What do you think of this one?

14.01.2022 I recently came across zaras_play_tribe fab idea of using a lazy susan in her children’s play, so I had to test it out in an activity with our yoga cards. Place the yoga cards face up in a pile in the middle of the lazy susan. Cut out 8-10 emotions from the Mindful Munchkins’ PDF and place them in a circle around the lazy susan.... Cut out an arrow and attach it next to the cards. Before playing the game, discuss with the children about the names of each of the emotions and what they look like. Take turns to spin the lazy susan. When it stops, have the player form the yoga pose as well as the emotion that the arrow is pointing towards. Eg. Sleepy snake, calm snake, proud snake etc. See more

14.01.2022 I’m feeling quite proud today to see my yoga cards featured in the March/ April issue of Kids on the Coast Magazine. Printed copies have been distributed across the coast to Kindergartens, schools and parent hot-spots, so make sure you grab your copy. Link to the digital copy is in the comments below

14.01.2022 A super easy set up like this encourages conversations with your little ones about the names of different emotions and what they look like. Have children gather natural materials around the house/ school that can be used to create different parts of a face. Discuss with your child about the names of different emotions and have them create the emotion using the natural materials.

14.01.2022 Cloud watching is the perfect activity for lazy afternoons. Lie down on the grass or on a blanket and observe the sky with your little one. Point out the shapes that you see. Listen to what your child sees in the clouds and try and see it as they do. Maybe you could form the different shapes that you see in the clouds with your body.

13.01.2022 I received this book in the mail this week and it is absolutely divine!! Lucky and Mucky teaches children about taking ownership of their feelings and how to respond to challenging situations, people and experiences they may face. It has such a powerful message and the illustrations are so magical!!

13.01.2022 Well that was a little stressful but our yoga cards are finally back in stock! Thanks to those that have waited patiently for their orders. They’ll be on their way to you very soon.

12.01.2022 How cute are these new characters!!I am so in love with the new emotions pack and excited of all the ways to use the resources included. Here is one simple idea I created using some of the emotions. Print 2 copies of each of the emotions. (16 emotions included)... Place them face down on the floor or table. Take turns to select 2 cards at a time. If the player finds a match, they may keep the cards. Encourage the child to name the emotion and use facial expressions to show it. The child with the most pairs wins the game. The link to the shop is in the comments.

12.01.2022 It’s great to be back sharing the Mindful Munchkins’ yoga show! Cant wait to see my little yogis tomorrow.

11.01.2022 Look who I found in tree pose! Introducing our very own little Mindful Munchkin.

10.01.2022 Eeek! These cards have been selling like crazy over the past few weeks and I’ve actually run out of stock. A while ago, I had a dodgy print run and was only able to salvage 10 cards from each pack of 20. I’ve decided not to put these to waste and include a sample pack option in my store. Fortunately, some of my fav yoga pose cards are included in this pack of 10.... Here they are- Snake, relaxation, cat/cow, surfer, frog, magic carpet, tree, butterfly, mouse and shark. In the meantime, if you’re after the 20 pack of yoga cards, I can let you know of one of our lovely stockists in your area. Have a great weekend!

08.01.2022 For young children, it can be very difficult for them to express and acknowledge how they are feeling. We need to provide lots of opportunities for them to become familiar with the names of emotions and what they may look and feel like. In our classes we like to teach children about feelings through the use of puppets, story telling and games. Here is a fun way to teach children about emotions while getting their bodies moving. Print out 6 different emotions and attach ...them to each face of the die Place some yoga cards face down in front of you Have one child roll the die Ask them to identify the feeling and express the emotion on their face That child must then turn over a yoga card and form the yoga pose Have the child combine both the feeling and pose together. Eg. happy snake, angry snake, scared snake etc See more

08.01.2022 I’ve been absent on here over the past few months but I’m hoping to be a bit more present this year. I have lots of new ideas that I’m looking forward to sharing with you all very soon. But for now, check out this little cutie sharing the new star pose card. So adorable

08.01.2022 I’ve been keeping this one on the down-low on my business accounts but I’m excited to announce that my partner and I are expecting our own little Mindful Munchkin due any day now.. I’m excited about the next chapter in my life but also incredibly nervous about the lack of sleep! lol I follow so many inspirational accounts and I look forward to learning from you all in my new journey as a first time mum!!... If I’m a little slower in replying to messages/emails please bear with me. Any tips/ tricks for a first time mum would be greatly appreciated See more

08.01.2022 Match up ~ I found these cute little bins with my teaching resources and they're ideal for this activity with our cards. ~ Place 6-10 yoga cards face down in a circle.... Place a matching toy/ picture that represents each of the poses that you have chosen in a container. Have children take turns to find a matching pair. Once a pair has been found, the children form the pose. My tips Use bowls to cover up the figurines if you do not have any containers. Practice the poses with the children first, so they are familiar with the names of each of the poses. See more

05.01.2022 I have just recently come across #mindfulinmarch hosted by Deer and Fawns education Today’s prompt is bubble, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to share this bubble wand I created. I found a stick outside and added some craft wire to the end of it. I then twirled some string and added some natural ribbon which I created from fallen palm fronds in my backyard. For the bubble liquid, I used 1 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of earth choice dishwashing liquid. Super easy but worked a treat. . Blowing bubbles can teach children about calm breathing, which can help them relax. Once your child has the wand in their hand, have them inhale through their nose and as they exhale slowly watch the bubbles float away. Or better still, run and chase them.

04.01.2022 Bean bag toss Attach the yoga cards to a stand (I used mini blackboards from Kmart) Place yoga mats in a circle and have each child stand on a mat. Spread the cards out in the mat circle... Have each child take turns to throw the bean bag at the yoga cards. If the child knocks over a stand, they form the yoga pose and keep the card. The person with the most cards wins. - My tips - Use 2 packs for larger groups of children. If you don’t have a stand, place the yoga cards face up and have children aim to land the bean bag on the card. See more

04.01.2022 Check out the new little guy featured on the downward dog card. He’s just too cute! Do you own a set of the new cards? What do you think of them?

03.01.2022 Did you know that our cards are printed here in Australia?? I have tested several companies now (as I’m super picky) and I just love the feel and look of my current cards. The cards are printed on quality 420gsm card stock and are durable for young children. As a teacher, I have seen so many resources being destroyed so quickly, so I wanted to ensure that this product would last for more that a few times of using them. Do you have a pack of our cards? If so, I’d love to hear what you think of the quality??

02.01.2022 Yoga spinner . There are countless ways to use yoga cards and I think this activity could be one of my faves. . Have your little yogis take turns to spin the fidget spinner. When the spinner stops, have that child teach the yoga pose that the spinner is pointing towards.... . My tips~ For younger children, use a few cards at a time so that they become familiar with the poses. You could also use smaller cards for larger groups of children. Have the cards face down. When the spinner stops, turn over the card and form the pose. I cut out an arrow and attached it to one arm of the spinner but you could use a spinner from a board game you may already have at home. See more

01.01.2022 Once your little munchkin is familiar with the poses, have them sequence 4-6 yoga cards to create a short story. This sequence is perfect for toddlers as it’s super short and incorporates lots of fun poses. Look outside! Our adventure bus is here. Let’s jump in!. (Adventure bus pose)... We’ve arrived at the beach. I can see our surfboard over there. Let’s catch some waves. (Surfer pose) Oh no! There is a shark coming towards us. (Shark pose) Let’s jump on the boat and paddle back to shore. (Boat pose) It’s been a long day. Let’s relax under the shade of the tree. (Relaxation pose) See more
