13.01.2022 Thanks ABC Gippsland, super appreciative of your help in spreading positive messages. Remember our 4 important tips for R U OK Day 1.)Listen with no intent to reply, judgement, criticism, comparison, advice or answers... 2.)Eye contact- when you look into someone else eyes you will see your reflection back. The same way you dont want pain for yourself, is the same for them. Empathy! 3.) Reflex Head Nods, they show that even know you might not understand the circumstance or situation, you are still listening and trying to. 4.) Discipline - This conversation isnt for one day, then not two weeks, RUOK day and then not again until next year. Its everyday. The difference between how much we say we care and how much we show it is the difference the world needs and aches for. Be kind to you, but lets make a bigger effort to be more kind to those around us!! #lovedandworthwhile

13.01.2022 Something to be proactive about and across as restrictions May begin to ease. The start of school is triggering anxiety for a lot of children. Those going to school in person may be anxious about separating from parents after so many months of being together 24/7. Thats on top of apprehension about going to school with masks and distancing and all the hand-washing, fears about getting sick, and the unsettling knowledge that their world might get turned upside down again at ...any time. The Child Mind Institute explore ways to help children work through their worries and make the best of an uncertain situation. Sending our love and strength to all these little champions as they navigate their way back into society and normal life structures. #lovedandworthwhile
12.01.2022 Being that we are only hours away from watching the Sydney Swans tonight, we thought we might rally the Mindfull Aus family to barrack for one of our own tonight. By that I mean... Welcome our newest Official Ambassador of Mindfull Aus ... Tom Papley! Tom Papley swapped his plumbing tools for a Sherrin when the Sydney Swans sprung a draft surprise in 2015 and the pocket-rocket forward has since become a crucial member of coach John Longmires side. Papley has played 20 or more senior games in every one of his four full seasons in the AFL and was at his best in 2019, topping Sydneys goal-kicking leaderboard and finishing fourth in the Bob Skilton Medal voting. In 2020, Tom represented the Big V Team alongside the AFLs best players, kicking 5 goals against the All Stars in the 2020 Bushifre Appeal Game. Now just 4 games away from 100 games at the top level, amassing 142 goals along the way. Tom has also utilised his platform away from Football to help raise vital funds, amassing $10,000 towards helping with food, clothes and most importantly money for them to pay rent for those who tragically lost their homes in the Bunyip fires in 2019. Tom is an exceptional young athlete in the AFL, but even more impressive off field and a wonderful representation of our backyard Gippsland. "I am incredibly passionate about working collaboratively with Mindfull Aus to get the message out there that its okay to not be okay and people are out there to help and support" We are looking forward to rolling out some new initiatives with Tom leading the charge and bringing hope, courage and acceptance to our young community of sporting superstars through Toms passion for mental health and wellbeing. Join us in Welcoming Tom!! #lovedandworthwhile
11.01.2022 - (Repost - From Matt) One of the greatest gifts you can give to the world is to let others know they aren’t alone. This guy here Troy Jones, has selflessly done this over the last 70+ days. Doing something that is beyond belief, something that not many people in this world would do.... 70+ days of running. 70+ days sacrificing income. 3931 kilometres by foot. Perth to Sydney All to raise incredible awareness and funds for mental health initiatives. He epitomises the journey of strength and has given many people a new found hope and acceptance for their path to a better life, or to recovery. So glad I could be there on the weekend to see the big fella cruise in and meet such a wonderful community of support. As mentioned Saturday, this cheque represents more than money. It is lives impacted and a shift in perception for many young kids. It may even inspire someone, to save their own life. Troy, it’s a blessing to know you and work with you, you are the exact person this world needs more of mate. Thank you for punishing your mind and body for the betterment of others, selflessly. I appreciate you and the entire team at Mindfull Aus thanks you. If you would like to donate to Troy’s run before tax time, we are leaving the link open. You can find it here - https://mindfullaus.gofundraise.com.au/ A huge big thank you also goes to the hundreds of people who have donated, contributed, sponsored and supported Troy. 10.01.2022 Welcome our first official female Ambassador to our incredible team of passionate and caring individuals and advocates. Jaymee Munro of Meraki Mind. Having battled with chronic mental illness since late childhood, Jaymee had always struggled with the want to speak up, but the shame and stigma that came attached to having these illnesses. In the year following her near fatal suicide attempt, Jaymee had enough of the stigma and gained enough courage to speak out about her menta...l illnesses in hope to reduce the stigma attached, and show that even straight A, happy kids could go through this mental pain and anguish. Since deciding to speak out, Jaymee has become an advocate in the mental health space, striving to create awareness and show that mental illness doesnt discriminate, even if you seem to have it all. A speaker, workshop facilitator, Reiki Healer and trained in Root Cause Therapy, Jaymee is a fantastic advocate for emotional wellbeing. A real life example of one who has channeled pain and experiences for the betterment of others and made a big difference in doing so & we love having her a big part of Mindfull Aus. #lovedandworthwhile #changingthenarrative

06.01.2022 - You Belong Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. 06.01.2022 We hear kids say negative things about themselves all the time: I’m so stupid! Nobody likes me. And, of course, I’m fat. Or I’m ugly. Sometimes these things are throwaway lines, or fishing for reassurance. They may be harmless. But what experts call negative self-talk can also reflect an unhealthy tendency in kids to think the worst of themselves, and that can lead toor be a sign ofsomething more serious. 02.01.2022 What better way to start a Tuesday than to reveal a NEW PARTNERSHIP! Mindfull Aus is proud to be officially partnering with The Compassionate Friends Victoria Inc. Over the years Mindfull Aus has been in operation we have received an overwhelming amount of questions about grief, bereavement and loss.... While Mindfull Aus was founded on the experience of loss and bereavement and have many wonderful advocates who have some really hope filled messages and experiences around it, it is important that we are working with the right organisations so families in our beautiful communities are best supported through some really challenging times. This is why we love working with TCFV. Did you know TCFV have support groups spread right across Victoria from Gippsland to Geelong to Bendigo, to Mildura to Portland. The key to positive change isnt about creating the NEW. The key to change is about making the established, well structured and effective services known to community. This country houses some of the most amazing organisations, advocates, groups and services in the world in the mind and behavioural space- we must make our communities known to them. We are only as good as the information we possess when we need it. Mindfull Aus will ensure that it continues to advocate for these established and incredible services to as many people as humanly possible! Stay tuned later this week for an exciting new service from TCFV and some more announcements. Its our 4th Birthday as a Not-Profit Health Promotion Charity with the Australian Charities Commission and for the celebration of 4 years - were unloading on new NEWS, EVENTS, PARTNERS, AMBASSADORS, BOARD MEMBERS AND WEBSITE. www.mindfullaus.org #Lovedandworthwhile
