25.01.2022 Happy Sunday everybody!

25.01.2022 Give yourself permission to take a 1-2 minute meditation break to recharge the mind. Let go of the mouse button, minimise the computer screen and take some time to tune into yourself. Close your eyes if it’s appropriate and tune into your breath, follow it for around 6-10 cycles.... Aim to make your breath have more depth and purpose, this will instantly take you out of any reactive behaviour and restore your focus again. See more

25.01.2022 What’s on your self care menu today? A walk, a ride, a swim, a good book, some time with friends and family? Or whatever rocks your boat....

24.01.2022 Remember this as we are slowly starting to transition back to our workplaces and things are starting to open up again. How can you share more love, kindness, support and compassion to your friends and colleagues?

24.01.2022 I really love what The Body Shop do in terms of sustainability and their eco-friendly products. So it was an absolute pleasure sharing a virtual mindfulness workshop this week with them and just as I imagined they are a fantastic group of people to work with! Keep up your great work!

23.01.2022 When you first awake take your time to set your intention for the day and week ahead. What energy do you want to bring to your day today? Have an amazing week and keep shining!

23.01.2022 With the rising incidences of mental health it’s important to check in with your team and ask the people around you the simple question RUOK? If you’d like help supporting your team, reach out on [email protected]

22.01.2022 Miss our family dog Mungo, in Switzerland. Thinking of you all in Europe and can’t wait until the world opens up again.

22.01.2022 Although it is important to stay informed with current changes and relevant COVID-19 news, just be careful of what you ingest, every day from social media, your friends and other sources. Being exposed to constant, alarming, anxiety-inducing stories further exacerbates the uncertainty and anxiety, especially when some of the sources are based on fear and misinformation. Make a conscious decision to limit your media to a couple... of times a day and only with reputable sources See more

21.01.2022 With all of the confusion and ever changing conditions going on right now it's easy to get caught up in worry, anxiety and fear for our uncertain future. There are some things you can control right now and there are many things you can't. To help you stay grounded during this challenging time, aim to take 10 minutes a day to connect with yourself with a short meditation practice. I promise it will help you in so many ways. A good place to start is my free meditations on @in...sighttimer http://insig.ht/mindfulmooves

21.01.2022 I’ll never forget how tough this trek was for me as it was my first exposure to ‘altitude sickness’ and that was only at 3200m! Headache, Nausea, fatigue, vomiting and I still needed to cross the pass at Thorong La at 5,450m!!.... But day by day we pushed on and enjoyed the majestic mountain scenery moment by moment and was eventually rewarded with this magical moment among the prayer flags overlooking the mighty Himalaya! A good reminder right now to keep pushing on and stay positive.

21.01.2022 Like the ocean you can always find stillness in the depths.

21.01.2022 During these challenging times it’s normal to be thinking of many ‘What if’ scenarios in your mind which can cause more anxiety for you. Mindfulness training really helps you to focus on ‘What is’ happening and staying focused on what's important.

18.01.2022 Start your week with a positive mindset. Careful what you tell yourself each day and know that you can do anything that you put your mind to. You’ve got this!!

18.01.2022 It was an absolute pleasure chatting with Nick Bracks (Actor and Mental Health Advocate) on his amazing podcast called Move Your Mind. We explored the concepts of mindfulness and how it can help with mental wellbeing and much more. It was so much fun with such an important message.Check it out on where you prefer to listen to podcasts, either; Spotify, Itunes, Acast, here is a direct link https://lnkd.in/g4nBYJa #mentalhealth #wellbeing #moveyourmind

18.01.2022 Flashback Friday - These little children in rural Uganda have experienced a great deal of hardship at such a young age. It took me a lot of time to gain their ‘trust’ through games and humour but when their hardened faces broke a smile it was beautiful to see. We had so much fun!

17.01.2022 To help you stay focused and operate as a peak performer, I’ve developed a concise guidebook Mindfulness for High Performance. Link in Bio on new website. https://melocalarco.com/

17.01.2022 Being grateful is so healthy for our psychological well-being our relationship with yourself and others. Give it a go what are your grateful for today?

16.01.2022 Flashback Friday- This picture was taken in a small pygmy village in Cameroon rarely visited by outside travellers. The little boy on my head named Limbau, jumped on me the moment I arrived in the village like a little monkey and he never left me for a few days. I’ll never forget the pure joy and big smiles of these kids who barely have enough food to eat but still manage to smile everyday. A good reminder right now to be grateful for what we do have! These children hold a place deep in my heart, especially little Limbau, who by the way is an amazing dancer!! #travel #mindfulness #adventure #africa

16.01.2022 Flashback Friday- I had the pleasure of joining a classroom of young children in rural Cambodia. They were so grateful for everything including the new pens we gave them. I felt like Father Christmas when I saw their big smiles of gratitude from receiving a single blue pen! So rewarding and a reminder that a small act of kindness can change someone's life!

16.01.2022 There is so much research around supporting the benefits of your mental wellbeing from simply being ‘kind’ to one another. It’s simple really, kindness boosts your happiness, and happiness boosts your performance. It’s not rocket science (as they say) so try it out today, be kind!

16.01.2022 It’s common right now to have thoughts of anxiety, fear and uncertainty, but please remember these are just thoughts and many of them are perceived. Observe your thoughts and ask yourself, is this true or is it just my perception? Often we can catastrophize about a future that hasn’t even happened yet and may never happen. Be mindful of what thoughts you give energy to and remember they are just thoughts. Read more Tips in our latest blog about this. https://melocalarco.com/staying-motivated-in-2020/

13.01.2022 Lifeline is receiving calls every 30 seconds at the moment. It’s ok not to be ok at the moment. But it is not ok to suffer alone and not speaking to someone. Reach out if you want to talk. https://calendly.com/melo-1

12.01.2022 So much fun being a podcast guest on @bravingthejourney in Hawaii. Take a listen when you have time. Link in bio

11.01.2022 I have a little challenge I do often where I ask myself whose day can I make today, who’s day can I make really, really special, who can I surprise today? And then I take action and call that person or send them a personal message, or give them a surprise gift. It’s such a good game and everybody is a winner! Try it out today!

11.01.2022 With so much sad news going on about the gorillas and poachers in Rwanda and Uganda at the moment, I am reminded how beautiful and fragile these creatures are. One of my most memorable wildlife experiences I had while travelling was visiting this Gorilla family in Virungu NP, Rwanda. This cute little 6 month old gorilla baby came up to me only metres away looking for a hug. He was so curious and so innocent just like a fragile human baby. It was fascinating and an absolute privilege watching these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. We met a whole family of all ages, like the huge silverbacks, the naughty teenagers and this baby toddler. They are so similar to us in so many ways. I cannot believe how anybody could ever harm these amazing creatures. Share this if you love animals.

11.01.2022 RUOK day reminder to check in on someone today. Stay well, take care and support those around you. #ruokday

11.01.2022 Wise words that are even more relevant today than ever. Have a great week!

11.01.2022 Happiness does not come from your external world, it comes from within. One of the simplest ways to ‘tune in’ to yourself is through your senses. When you're feeling anxious or confused, pause and tune into what you are seeing, hearing, and feeling as this brings us into the present moment. Sitting with yourself and your thoughts is a great way to know yourself better and find inner-peace.

11.01.2022 Remember to have fun with your family, during the weekend. during this time of isolation we find ourselves having to wear a lot of different hats as parents during the week, so kick back and have some fun. Have you got any creative ideas?

10.01.2022 It's so nice to feel the buzz of people on the street again. The sun is out - cafes, restaurants and shops are open. Being locked down for so long really makes you appreciate everything even more. I thoroughly enjoyed my first sit down brunch at a local cafe this morning. ... 09.01.2022 Mars - You made Pepe’s day. Thank you for such a generous care package. We loved working with you and your energetic team.

08.01.2022 Did you know we have between 40- 70,000 thoughts per day and over 80% of them are negative, and many are repetitive thoughts from previous days. Be mindful of your thoughts and what you tell yourself each day. Believe in yourself, reframe your mindset to a positive one and embrace each new challenge thoughtfully.

08.01.2022 With the ever changing current conditions it’s quite tough to stay motivated and positive during these challenging times. I’ve put together a blog with 5 tips to stay motivated right now. https://melocalarco.com/staying-motivated-in-2020/

08.01.2022 I cannot explain the feeling of my daughter's little hand in mine, it’s definitely one of life’s simple pleasures. This pic was taken a few years ago and reminds me to treasure every single moment because life moves way too fast!

08.01.2022 Now more than ever it is important to keep moving in any way you can to keep your energy and motivation up. Walk, dance, bounce, jump, do yoga or anything you can to move that body!

08.01.2022 This is practice I use each day, always on the lookout for positivity and gratitude. I’m sure if you look around you will find it. The more we do this, we hard-wire our brains to seek positivity and release positive chemicals through our body. This is now more important than ever.

06.01.2022 Just when you feel you have nothing left in you , just take a deep breath and take one more step towards your goal. This is a testing time right now and we are all feeling tired from the ever changing situation and want things to go back to normal to get on with life again. But right now you just have to keep on going, that one extra step could be the one that changes everything.

06.01.2022 This photo was taken some years ago roaming the Mara with a Massai warrior. I clearly remember the feeling of roaming the wide open plains of the Mara knowing that there are predators are around , it made feel so ‘alive and free’. This is something that is taken away from us now in this COVID lockdown situation but we can still visit our memories and imagination.

05.01.2022 No matter how difficult things seem, you still have options. You can see it as an opportunity to learn, grow and develop.

04.01.2022 The best gift you can give your children (and yourself) right now is the gift of mindful meditation. It teaches them to be present, to connect with their own feelings and emotions and to be more resilient. The best way to teach our children is to practice yourself and lead by example.

04.01.2022 What a blast today sharing mindfulness with the fun team at @lorealaustralia an awesome session sharing ways to stay positive and pliable during these challenging times.

03.01.2022 You've got this. Stay positive and support those around you.

03.01.2022 Flashback Friday- Tossing Monks. I spent a lot of time with the young novice monks in Laos, Luang Prabang, studying Buddhism and joining their afternoon meditation sessions. A monk's life is very structured starting with early morning meditations and then studying the scriptures all day and doing various chores around the monastery, so it was great to find some time to kick back and have some fun in the day. This shot was taken while cooling off in the Mekong River escaping the midday heat...Also, a great reminder of the importance of PLAY when making connections while travelling.

02.01.2022 Seriously these two polar opposites cannot exist simultaneously in the same body and mind. When we spend our energy and focus on practicing kindness, compassion and gratitude, towards yourself and others then this overrides the feelings of fear and anger. The two cannot exist together. Try it out.

02.01.2022 Last week I had the pleasure of sharing a webinar on the Healthy Minds- Positive Vibes Summit alongside 8 other prominent speakers. It was all about The Road where Mindfulness and Happiness Meet, if you missed it, here is a replay. Here's the link: https://vimeo.com/414203338/20a2f17cea

01.01.2022 Flashback Friday! What I would give today to be back here again in the Western Sahara desert roaming among the sand dunes. There is something special about sitting atop the dunes and looking across a vast desert panorama. The wide open space instantly calms the mind and gives you inner peace and perspective.

01.01.2022 The theme for this year's Mental Health Month is ‘Tune in’ which I think is a great initiative given the challenging times we are in. There’s so much external noise, uncertainty, negative media and confusion hijacking our attention each day. We cannot control the external noise but we can control our response to it. Remove some of that external stimuli by ‘tuning in’ to yourself more deeply. Mindfulness and meditative practices are great ways to do this. ...
