19.01.2022 EX CEO of NIMH: I spent 13 years at National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) really pushing on neuroscience and genetics of mental disorders, and when I look back on that I realised that while I think I succeeded at getting lots of really cool papers published by cool scientist at fairly large costs I think $20 billion I don't think we moved the needle in reducing suicide, reducing hospitalisations, improving recovery for the tens of millions of people who have mental illness. I hold myself accountable for that.

15.01.2022 I keep thinking that our anxiety and mental health challenges are not personal. We are living in a cultural soup that does not work for we humans, nor for any other life on this planet. We think we have it all but it seems we don't have what we need the most to thrive. Therefore I wonder if it would have been more effective if in the budget there was a very serious structural commitment on climate change, on the gap between rich and poor, on affordable housing, on reducing the power and influence of social media etc. As much as we need mental health initiatives it feels like bandaid efforts on a much much broader and deeper problem. What do you think?

02.01.2022 Is your world upside down? Have you gone from strict routine to no difference between days? Longing for a day at home to just wanting to get out? Too much work to no work? Missing family to too much time with family? Too much to do to on demand to get out of bed? Engaged/lost in the outside world to just being with the inside world? Prioritise your inner world being in a good state!... Commit to the basics: - Move min of 30 min a day - Ensure good food and stick to your routine around meals - Keep sleep routine - Meditate mindfulness practice - Read/watch wholesome material and watch out for too much social media and web surfing Additional ideas for keeping your inner garden healthy: - Stick to routines perhaps making each day for certain tasks - Garden if you can and plant vegetables or herbs - Cook really good food and experiment - Bake something from scratch - Write your friends a letter - Call a loved one or someone you have just lost contact with - Organize a group FaceTime with family or friends - Help younger siblings with online school - Get groceries for someone at risk - Make someone a playlist - Pick up a new hobby (knitting, skateboarding, guitar) - Make one or two days a week your laundry time - Journal - Organize your closet, your towels, your car, your tax - Deep clean a part of your house - Start a new book - Make a photo album - Make a slideshow and share it with loved ones - Enrol in an online course - Book some coaching sessions
