22.01.2022 During difficult times it's important to grasp the beauty of fleeting and impermanent things in life: Look at the transient cycle of nature. Flowers bloom, wilt and die, but dried flowers have such potent energy and can be used to create meaningful art. Read more poetry. Or attempt to write poetry. Just like writing a diary, it is transient, gentle and very relaxing. Become a potter without a kiln. Make your own clay (baking soda, cornstarch and water). Making objects ...with your own hands is a deliberate process that soothes nerves. Maintain a semblance of routine. Even in turbulent times, certain things in the family schedule should stay the same: bubble baths, warm meals, and regular bedtimes. Add special touches to each of them: candles, essential oils, or stories from your own childhood. See more

17.01.2022 Kids who are taught healthy boundaries have well-defined sense of who they are and what they are responsible for. They also learn to be decisive and associate love with freedom. Here are 3 quick tips on how you can teach your children to set and respect boundaries: The power of gesture - even before they can speak, babies should know how to show 'no'. Offer them a choice - if you see that the word 'no' triggers your strong-willed toddler, off them a reasonable choice. ... Remember - If you need time to decompress after work, take the time to do it. When your kids see you set firm boundaries with them or anyone else, they will learn how to do that for themselves. #MindfulParentingMagazine #HealthyBoundaries

14.01.2022 Words really do have the power to harm....and heal. In this issue of Mindful Parenting, registered psychologist - Rachel Tomlinson and author and researcher, Kari Sutton explore helpful strategies to positively relate to our children. 1. Pause and reframe - take a step back from a frustrating situation, get down to their level and label the behaviour and not the child. 2. Reflect - Identify your own inner critic. 3. Let it go - embrace your own imperfections and acknowledge... that it's ok to make mistakes, for you and your children. #MindfulParentingMagazine

Mix oils together in a small glass bottle (a dropper bottle works well but is not necessary). By adopting rather than shopping, you're saving a life and gaining a pet that has been health-checked, assessed for temperament, and undergone basic training.
