22.01.2022 The Role of Social Media. Our constant access to the internet, and social media, brings me to an interesting topic (though not a new one) around the utilisation of social media as a wonderfully powerful tool to strategically attract talent and increase brand/company awareness. Candidates are now researching companies via Instagram, Linkedin and more, wanting to get to know us before they click that Apply Now button. ... Consider the impact of someone watching a short video or reading a brief story about how 'Steven' from your company started as a Labourer 12 years ago and rose through the ranks to become the State General Manager. They feel inspired by Stevens success, they feel that your company offers longevity, progression, a great working environment, and that you celebrate your people. This also helps to improve your existing employee engagement as Steven, and Stevens co-workers, feel valued and that their hard work is recognised by Management. Video interviewing is another great tool. What has worked well for your company? #peopleandculture #innovation #business

11.01.2022 Working Parents Working parents know how exhausting it can be to hold down a busy job whilst raising and supporting a family. In conversation with the wonderful Bekk Millwood today regarding well-being in the workplace (a topic we are both particularly passionate about), we discussed how on earth working parents were supposed to find any time to do what they love, to do what recharges their own batteries (aside from sleep of course) and focus on their overall mental hea...lth and well-being. It's important stuff and can dramatically impact our relationships with others and our children. How do you manage? Do you do the Sunday bulk cook-up for the week ahead (hiding every veggie possible in bolognaise!), or hire a cleaner so you feel less pressure to juggle it all? Whatever you do, however you manage, you're doing a great job. Don't forget that. #business #wellness #wellbeing #hr #peopleandculture #workingdads #workingmums

01.01.2022 How are all the working parents going as we all come to grips with the new normal of working from home? Anyone else feverishly downloading educational games to iPads?! Creating specific time blocks helps a great deal and minimises your stress. This may consist of alternating child care with a spouse or switching between work and focusing on your child at consistent intervals. Set times for must-do work tasks like deadlines and virtual meetings and schedule the rest around tho...se. Optimise productivity by doing some of your work when the kids are sleeping early in the morning or later in the evening. Remember that you take frequent breaks at the office for coffee, food and socialisation so you can feel fine doing the same at home. If you can squeeze in some work on the fringes of the day, it will help leave time for important family connections (which alleviates that parental guilt also)! Remember, you are doing a great job. We all know what objectives we need to achieve. Even if your day is running to a slightly different drumbeat, the outcomes will remain the same because youre great at what you do! #mindfulshewrote #peopleandculture #workingdads #workingmums #flexibleworkforce #workingfromhome #workingparents #productivity #remoteworking

01.01.2022 Interviews - A Two Way Street. I often get asked which questions are best to ask at the end of a job interview. If you dont prepare for this, you do run the risk of coming across as disinterested or ill-prepared. It is certainly worth putting some thought to!... Here are my top 4: 1. What are the biggest challenges facing the department/company right now? What great opportunities are ahead for the team/department/business? 2. Please talk me through a day in the life of this role within [company name]? 3. What are your expectations for this role within the first 3, 6, 12 months? 4. What qualities do you believe are critical to achieving success in this role? Those final few minutes of your job interview are an opportunity to cement just how keen you are for the role and demonstrate your genuine interest in understanding how you can add value to the company. Dont forget that an interview is a two-way street! You must investigate whether it is the right place/role for you also! #interviewingtips #peopleandculture #business #jobinterview #hr
