22.01.2022 Having a cup of tea won’t save the world, it won’t heal the world but it is allowing me to take a conscious pause this morning and let go. I am redirecting my thoughts and focusing on the flavours of the tea, the warmth of the mug, the sounds of the birds outside and the delicious hibiscus smell (of the anxiety blend) I am only in control of how I react and respond to the world Take care everyone #anxiety #mindfultea #selfcare

20.01.2022 Jet lag / Part 1 We jet through time zones quicker than our 24 hour internal clock can keep up with We feel sleepy and heavy during the day in different time zones as our internal clock is still tuned in to thinking it’s nighttime. Then we jump into bed in a different time zone and we hit a different issue, we are finally in bed after dragging ourselves around all day trying to stay awake and now finally we are in bed and our brains think it’s day time ... But, we are adaptable - eventually your body and brain will readjust to this new time zone. For everyday you are in a different time zone your suprachiasmatic nucleus can readjust by 1 hour. For example if you fly to a time zone 7 hours ahead of your hometown it will on average take 7 days to fully adjust. Pinterest #jetlag #sleepsupport #mindfultea See more

17.01.2022 Make your bedroom a sleep sanctuary. Leave the technology outside of the room, keep your phone in the kitchen, avoid working or studying in bed to allow your brain to unconsciously associate your bedroom with rest and sleep only (not a place of work) so when you hit the sack sleep should come easier. How do you create a space for deep rest, comment below ... (Cups of tea in bed are permitted ) cred: @sunitav_ See more

13.01.2022 Loneliness is one of the biggest killers (note: social isolation and loneliness are known risk factors for premature death - more than being obese). Our lack of sleep can lead to feeling lonely or wanting to be alone. Being sleep deprived lowers your desire to be social with other people and studies show sleep deprived individuals like to be physically further away from other people Interestingly, several studies in the Psychology literature show that if you are perceive...d as being sleep deprived this can lower the desire of others wanting to have a social interaction with you too Our brain needs sufficient sleep in order to function and when you are sleep deprived the part of your brain that is prosocial may be shut down * Sleep is good for our relationships, emotional and physical health *found in several studies. 12.01.2022 A gentle reminder to show yourself compassion. Our brains are one of the most complex systems in the known universe giving us thousands of thoughts each day. We are more than our thoughts and emotions they don’t define who we are . It can take a feelings two minutes to pass through us (but the storm will pass) if you can let yourself feel the emotion/thought, let it pass through you, accept and continue on. Mantra: This feeling will pass

11.01.2022 We spend a lot of our time in our heads visualising the 23156 scenarios that might happen and then reacting to them (seems bizarre when you think about it and how many of those scenarios actually manifest? Yet we got ourselves so worked up ). Human language is a highly complex system of symbols, words, images and sounds and that’s all that our thoughts are, just a bunch of symbols, patterns, colours, images that we give meaning to..... Our thoughts and feelings are NOT the problem, the problem is when we get HOOKED by them (avoiding them / being fused and controlled by them). Take some time throughout the day to observe your thoughts and allow them to come and go as if you are watching the TV, it’s an interesting way to learn more about yourself (Note: try to purely OBSERVE your thoughts limit reacting or challenging them).

11.01.2022 Our breathe is with us from birth As our emotions change to respond to negative events and thoughts our breathing sometimes speeds up to reflect the struggle but we have control over our breathe and we can use it to re-centre ourselves, self soothe and bring us back to the present

10.01.2022 Ashwaganda has SO many therapeutic benefits and is found in our Anxiety Tea Classified as an adaptogen this herb helps combat stress, fight inflammation and several studies have shown it reduces cortisol levels

09.01.2022 GLOSSARY: Cortisol (hormone): Cortisol regulates a wide range of processes throughout our body, but most importantly it plays a pivotal role in helping our body deal with stress. Stressful thoughts are an important signal for cortisol release. If your cortisol levels remain too high for too long this can be harmful rather than helpful and we see overtime it can lead to disrupted sleep, negatively impact your mood, impact memory and create brain fog and cause high bl...ood pressure. Natural ways to lower your cortisol: Sleep (get a healthy quality and quantity of sleep - consistently). Recognise your stress provoking thoughts and practice mindfulness strategies such as deep belly breathing. Limit sugar intake: High sugar intakes may keep your levels elevated. Helpful herb: Ashwagandha (a key herb you will find in our Anxiety Tea). Exercise: Yoga, Pilates & Long Walks See more

07.01.2022 How to effectively FACE COVID, adapted by our favourite, Dr Russ Harris. F = Focus on what’s in your control. A = Acknowledge your thoughts & feelings (Silently and kindly acknowledge whatever is ‘showing up’ inside you). C = Come back into your body (connecting back with your physical body through deep breathing or stretching). ... E = Engage in what you’re doing (refocus your attention to each task, try being present by looking around and noticing 5 things, identify the sounds, smells, warmth and tastes around you). C = Committed action (What are simple ways to look after yourself and others? To improve life for myself and others). O = Opening up (making room for the difficult feelings and being compassionate to yourself). V = Values (Your values might include love, respect, humour, patience, courage, honesty, caring, openness, kindness . or numerous others. Look for ways to ‘sprinkle’ these values into your day. Let them guide and motivate your committed action). I = Identify resources (Identify resources for help, assistance, support, and advice. This includes friends, family, neighbours, health professionals, emergency services). D = Disinfect & distance (remember, we’re talking about physical distancing not cutting off emotionally).

Keep your room as a place of rest only (no work or study). Create a consistent sleep schedule. AVOID alcohol before bed.
