25.01.2022 Predicting the duration of trauma treatment can be difficult as there are multiple factors that play a role. This depiction can be seen as a general guide to anticipated treatment duration showing the difference between single incident trauma in adulthood and the more complex early life traumatic experiences. . Other factors not mentioned but taken into consideration are is it’s duration, severity, intensity and the presence of different types of trauma (Household Dysfunctio...n - substance abuse, marital separation/divorce, mental illness, violence, criminal behaviour; Abuse - psychological, physical, sexual; Neglect - physical, emotional). . Trauma is treatable, whilst it can be hard and long work it really is possible to overcome your past. Ensure your therapist knows trauma well and is trauma trained as the outcomes depend on having the right treatment for your symptom presentation. . #emdr #emdrtherapy #psychology #treatment #therapy #ptsd #cptsd #trauma #attachment See more

25.01.2022 The effects of pre-verbal trauma manifest in the body, there are no words and no memories to describe the felt sense that the body tells. Trauma is treatable as too is pre-verbal trauma with therapeutic approaches such as EMDR and the other therapies indicated. #repost @ayan_mukherjee_ #emdr #psychology #trauma #healing

24.01.2022 Social connectedness is what helps our resilience to overcome adversity. So when we are told to keep our social distances how do we cope? Regaining some control by trying to make the most of the situation. The attached thanks to @wabisabimish has some great ideas. Otherwise speaking to a professional to work through any anxieties you might have during the covid-19 pandemic. #covid19 #psychology #trauma #therapy

23.01.2022 Thank you @anabel_gonzalez_english for sharing these tips to prevent getting caught up in the coronavirus anxiety contagion we are experiencing. Cognitive reframing may help to assist with anxiety, however it may also help to get more specific emotional support by speaking to a professional who can provide you with factual information as well as guidance on how to manage any anxiety The Australian Department of Health website can provide you with up-to-date government advice (e.g. staying at home if feeing unwell, frequent hand washing and social distancing) to keep informed that way. #psychology #covid19 #therapy #cognitivereframing #cbt #therapymatters

19.01.2022 We all have an intuitive ability to judge situations without really understanding why we feel that way. Sometimes we dismiss that instinct by intellectualizing the situation when really this over analyzing and over thinking can confuse our already good judgement. Listen to your body in the first instance it has the answers.

17.01.2022 Identity issues can result from an over investment in a narrow segment of life. Outside of work, outside of being a parent, a child or sibling, a friend, who am I? What do I think? What do I like? What do I need? #calmthechaos #therapy #psychology #lifeschallenges #emdrtherapy

15.01.2022 Emotional problems can be masked by other more prominent issues such as eating disorders or substance misuse. However when these seemingly problematic behaviours are resolved the underlying emotional problem can continue. Repost @mendmyed.art #eatingdisorders #psychology #trauma #therapy

15.01.2022 Loss of control, confusion, uncertainty all of these can heighten stress, anxiety and panic. In our current climate concern is needed, however worry about what is uncontrollable can be harmful to your wellbeing and those around you. It can help to focus on what you can influence rather than what you can’t. Our environment is changing around us, that we know, so choose to respond with flexibility and adaptability. Otherwise speaking to a professional who can help you. #repost @thecounsellingteacher #psychology #covid19 #therapy #cognitivereframing #cbt #therapymatters #calmthechaos #dontpanic

14.01.2022 The thing I love to do when not in clinic is learning new techniques and approaches to help clients heal. Listening to pioneers in the EMDR world such as Carol Forgash is such a thrill.

12.01.2022 Thinking of all the defence servicemen and women, past, present and fallen who have devoted their lives for us. Thank you.

10.01.2022 This cartoon may have been seen as controversial but I see it as a statement of the overuse of devises and the disengagement with our most loved ones. Feeling unseen is a sad part of our modern day life. With the other overuse and attraction of devises can lees to those closest to us feeling unloved and devalued. #leunig #michaelleunig #therapy #psychology #trauma #traumainformed

07.01.2022 How do you feel right now? The ability to identify our emotions is an important element of life. Being able to acknowledge how we feel and express this to others is as equally important. #psychology #therapy #undoingthepast #emdr #treatment

05.01.2022 Valentines Day, a celebration of romance, love and admiration. Commonly this day is shared with a loved one, however expressing love to your self is often neglected. To love yourself for all it’s flaws, to respond with self acceptance and self compassion is a beautiful way to celebrate any day. 04.01.2022 I learned today of the passing of Francine Shapiro, originator and developer of EMDR. An absolute pioneer in the field of psychology, she changed the world in ways few have. Her courage and energy in pursuing the goal of relieving the global burden of trauma knew no bounds. She has been a Giant in the field in the field of trauma and it’s healing. Her gift of EMDR has changed the lives of countless people in ways that are incalculable. She changed the lives of countless therapists, and will continue to do so.
