22.01.2022 Congrats to everyone that played in the online Interschool chess tournament today! Our Primary A team came first place and has qualified for the State Finals in September. Also well done to our secondary team placing fourth overall. Keep up the great work everyone!

22.01.2022 Hi guys! Just a quick update on this beautiful Tuesday morning - The next round for tournaments has just opened. There is very limited spaces and it will fill up, as it's international. ... If your child has enjoyed the inter school online tournaments, then they will enjoy this for sure. It usually happens on Saturdays, so no missing school (not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, haha!). 20.01.2022 What amazing results for our secondary team today with 6 players and placing 4th overall at Hobart Interschool tournament. Well done team. We are just all so proud of all of you Our next Interschool online tournament (Burnie) is on June 12, 9:00 till 11:30. Please let us know if you’re interested in participating

20.01.2022 Another busy night at Mind Moves while some of our juniors practise for the up coming Interschool tournament. We would like to thank all the parents that regularly help to make our club better. As always, thankyou to all the wonderful kids who continuously participate every week.

19.01.2022 And so we come to the end of another great year at chess club. Thank you so much to all our beautiful children for attending each week, for working so hard, for persevering and most importantly, for having fun and making new friends, while enjoying such a great game. We have had a tremendously successful year, despite all the setbacks 2020 had in stall. Our kids have shown their resilience, in so many ways. Well done guys! Thank you to all our parents, who have supported th...eir children and made the journey to club, each Monday. We couldn't have done it without you. Lastly, thank you to all our wonderful parent volunteers, for putting their hands up, once again this year, to keep the club running. Without you guys, we won't be able to run our club. A sincere, heartfelt thank you. Next Monday is our traditional BBQ get-together at the Tailrace Park. Unfortunately due to Covid, it will be slightly different this year. Instead of a BBQ being provided by the club, each family is asked to bring their own picnic dinner and we will just get together, for an hour of fun, to finish of this great year. We will provide bottled water. Please RSVP by Sunday 22 November. Have a great week everyone!

18.01.2022 Another busy night at club tonight. It’s great to see so many kids still coming along. We’ve made some changes to the distancing rules between tables and the kids are doing a great job of handling and respecting these. Charl gave some excellent coaching tonight and some really inspiring advice on improving their game

18.01.2022 A huge congratulations to our teams who recently competed in the Tasmanian State Finals. Our best results so far in the State Championships! Primary school team - FIRST PLACE Secondary school team - SECOND PLACE A fantastic result and proof of all the hard work and commitment, from each and every one of them. Well done guys! We are super proud of you all.... We have fantastic individual results and I can't help but to share it. Primary Division: Luwanna 2nd overall Minh Dang Do 3rd overall Secondary division: John Patrick (age 14) first overall Good luck for the National Finals team!

12.01.2022 Good morning guys. Just a quick update on Monday's tournament. I have the following entrees (I thought I'd post it here, to make sure I haven't missed anybody or made a mistake). Otherwise, you should receive instructions from the organisers on Monday morning, as to how to proceed. Please ensure you have made payment ($12) by Monday, if you haven't done so already. 10.01.2022 Well done to everyone who competed in the Burnie Interschool Tournament today. We have now qualified 8 secondary players to play in the State Finals in September. All of our players came in the top 10 players with John taking 1st place, David taking 2nd and Luwanna taking 3rd, well done!

09.01.2022 An update on Friday's Hobart Interschool tournament. Mind Moves placed 3rd overall, with first place for Tasmanian Secondary schools. We have qualified for the State Finals, well done team! A huge congratulations to John Patrick, who came 1st overall in the Secondary division. Such an amazing achievement! Well done John!

08.01.2022 We’re back! How wonderful to be playing chess again at Mind Moves. The kids played some great games and Luwanna and Monty put some puzzles up for the group. Great fun!

08.01.2022 Hi guys! Just a quick note with regards to Friday's inter school tournament. It will run between 9am-12pm (starting at 9:15am). I know most kids are now back at school, so this could be a potential obstacle. I thought I'd let you know that a number of kids are still going to school, but will be doing the tournament online, from school, so that they can get straight back to their school activities, after the tournament. If your child is keen to participate, but you had ...concerns as to how to make it happen, then I think it'll be well worth talking to your child's teacher/school, to see if they can facilitate this for your child as well :) I'd appreciate if I can have confirmation of all entries by midday Wednesday (10th), so that I can enter our teams. Cost is $12 per child. Have a wonderful day!

05.01.2022 Good morning everyone! We are almost 'out the other side' and things are slowly getting back to normality. We are looking forward to seeing all those exciting faces back at chess club, very soon. Chess club will return at the beginning of Term 3, with our first club meeting being held on MONDAY 27 JULY, 6:30pm.... All members who have paid for term 2 already, won't need to pay again for term 3 :) Enjoy the last few weeks of term and we shall see you soon. Stay safe! Dawida
