Lay with your back flat on a bench & feet back towards your upper body to creat an arc with your lower/mid portion of your back.... 2. DBs start in a neutral position with wrists in line with elbows. Shoulders pulled back and depressed to help stabilize the movement. 3. Press DBs upwards with intent. Twist from neutral to pronated position making sure to squeeze your shoulder into your chest for full contraction. 21.01.2022 Build a physique that FEELS STRONG @jennifereggers_ In prep for ICN state championships. 35mm target loss left on the skinfolds to be at stage ready condition. We focused more frequency and volume on the lower body, which has paid off with more growth in Jens glutes, hamstrings & quads. Become your own master of emotions. Progress isnt linear. But average trends over time matter... Track and review your adjustments weekly/fortnightly. Make decisions quickly, change them slowly. Dont over react. You can measure the weight on the bar, skinfolds, nutrition intake and lifestyle variables such as stress and sleep. 21.01.2022 Electrolytes: Improve Your Performance A poor electrolyte ratio will impact your performance whether it is a marathon, strength session or any athletic endeavor Increase muscle endurance... Improve energy and metabolism Buffers lactate Helps nutrient partitioning Electrolytes conduct electricity and include mineral salts: sodium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus We should have a potassium to sodium ratio of 2:1. Unfortunately the intake of sodium is a lot higher in todays modern diet leading to health implications like hypertension. Its important to consume a product that has the balanced amount of all electrolytes (The sports drink contain a lot more sugar and sodium, sugar is a poor conductor). Want to perform at your best? 19.01.2022 How to lose fat while retaining as much lean mass as possible At we have 4 pillars of programming 1. Behaviors... 2. Baseline 3. Fat Loss 4. Building Each has different rules and principles of nutrition, training and lifestyle to follow When entering a FAT LOSS PHASE here are three things we like to see to get the most visually appealing physique possible: Strength is still increasing throughout the whole timeframe of dieting. This is a sign you are retaining your lean body mass/muscle and not losing it. Understanding lean body mass may fluctuate with depletion of water and glycogen in a fat loss phase, if your numbers are coming up that’s a sign your muscle retention is going well. Energy output is increased. This is in the way of training volume over time and NEAT. Volume is a variable that will influence muscle stimulation over time and controlling both NEAT and training output will increase your energy out which = greater fat loss. Intention and tracking. We like to see a rate of 0.5-1% loss as an average on scale/bio signature and/or 3-5mm loss weekly on sum 10 of the skinfolds site. From these markers we can set realistic intentions and timeframes to achieve a fat loss outcome. Too much weight loss (after the first initial few weeks of someone has dropped a lot of fluid and gut volume) may be a sign you are losing lean body mass. . . . . #mindperformancehealth #personaltrainer #coaching #bodytransformations #physique #bodycomposition #physiquecompetition #nutriton #gym #sydney

19.01.2022 Glute Strength & Muscle Growth The BB hip thrust is a great exercise to build and grow your glutes Traditionally it was always thought that squats were the best way to enhance look of the glutes. Squats stretch and work the lower portion but if you want to step up your glute game you need to target the upper and outer regions.... The BB hip thrust is a great exercise to target the upper portion + build a better all round lower physique Make sure shins are vertical when in extension Posterior tilt your hips at the top for the most contraction. This will also help hip extension and limit quad input. Limit curving of the lower back to get the most tension on the glutes. Give it a go and get those glutes ready for summer! #mindperformancehealth #glutes #bbhipthrust See more

Soph was training very often and hard before, not eating much calories and plateaued. Sometimes it is not about calories to progress forward from our experience. 18.01.2022 Yes! Spring is here and summer is coming Most of us were indoors through the first half of 2020 due to lockdown. This may of meant for you a bit of extra grazing, lack of motivation and some extra kgs to the waist line No stress, plenty of time to start implementing a few strategies to get the body ready as the world becomes more social again... 1. Get moving. Go for walks, track your steps, use the weights you have available or get back into a routine with your training again. 2. Increase your daily water Intake. Just start by drinking a little bit more than your current intake. With the lack of exercise usually water intake lowers. Hydration does wonders for performance, Energy and weight loss 3. Stop the mindless eating. Theres nothing wrong with having a few snacks here and there..... but like most things anything in excess is not good and its safe to say 2020 was the year of comfort and mindless eating. Unfortunately, both of those doesnt help your body composition or health when done in excessive amounts Feel strong and vibrant again #mindperformancehealth #summer #spring See more

17.01.2022 Plans Fail because of the tyranny of How Understand how underrated this is. Most people start with HOW. Those that achieve success start with WHAT & WHY. How do I lose 15kg? How do I build the physique that I want? Starting with these questions without your what and why will most likely fail.... Is it a feeling? Is it confidence? Does it hold a emotional charge? Once you have your why. You eat to pursue your why. Youll train to pursue your why. You strive for excellence with your why. Plan for success by aligning it with something you want to gain. #mindperformancehealth #what #why See more

17.01.2022 It’s a big misconception that strength training for women will make them bulky. Don’t get us wrong. If your eating junk food you can not out train your poor behaviors. 17.01.2022 Interested in improving your running performance like a ultra marathon runner handles their programming? Having experience of coaching performance with ultra marathon runners that complete 100km theres a few markers to respect that will improve your endurance, times and overall experience when running 1. Lower skin folds (body fat) equates to higher running performance. We have seen the lower body fat range when conducting our skin fold measurements helps with performance.... Yep, if you want better times running...... you need to get your nutrition in check. If you dont, to me you really dont want to chase excellence as a runner. I notice runners either eat to little, or eat to much..... 2. A period of low carb diets to improve fat utilization works wonders for performance. I have trailed low carb diets for ultra runners to improve fat oxidization. The timeframes of doing a low carb plan have been different depending on runner feedbacks, but a period of this before adding carbs back in has worked wonders for performance. 3. Carb loading/race day nutrition plan gives you a edge. With my ultra runners I have a set supplement plan on the day that may contain some things like essential aminos, ketones, caffeine, electrolytes, carb powders and food to sustain cognition, energy and performance. I have had my runners say as soon as they intake the specific protocol to them, they have felt a burst of energy. Doing a carb load for that week also has shown to be a huge benefit There is a difference between the above and running for fun.. though the above will improve both! Stay strong! 17.01.2022 Jason has been on a mission. He has dropped 13% body fat (from 25.5%-11.5%), lost 12kg body weight and increased his personal best on his performance lifts. He wanted to get the abs out and now we have. The focus now is to go into a building phase to really drive some more muscle growth. He will enter a diet break for 1-2 weeks where we will find baseline calories. Trialing volume and intensity will back off. After two weeks of de-load, training volume will increase as we ent...er a big block of building lean body mass. Food will be raised consistently in a surplus to drive more growth. A big tip for lean body mass gain/muscle gain: it’s a long term game. We want a slow rate of body fat gain over time. People enter bulking phases and just put on to much body fat to quickly and don’t maximize their muscle growth potential. We will get Jason’s body fat levels gradually up to 14-15% before commencing another cutting phase. The result.... a much bigger, leaner physique. . . . . #mindperformancehealth #personaltrainer #coaching #bodytransformations #physique #bodycomposition #physiquecompetition #nutriton #gym #sydney

04.01.2022 Eccentric Chins is a great way to introduce vertical pulling exercises. A phase of eccentric preceding isometric and concentric phases will help develop upper back and posterior strength. Soph is a strong teen that values her performance. She also includes cross fit classes in her weekly routine. With that in mind we programmed more hip extension focused work with our sessions. In doing so she has increased her deadlifts by 15kg as well as her clean and press in those classes. Awesome work. - #mindperformancehealth

03.01.2022 Well done to Annette Vincent completing UTA 100km Marathon. What a ride it has been. From preparing with @coach_michael_pritchatt for last years, event which got cancelled due to covid. To having surgery only a few weeks ago to attach a loose hamstring. Many said with the surgery that you shouldn’t do this event..... and what a way to show what the body can do when the mind is determined. . With Annettes prep for this event we monitored daily nutrition, strength training (in... line with running volume), supplementation and recovery. . Strength training was specific to improve stride frequency, length, mobility and posterior chain. Extremely important for marathon runners. . Well done weapon See more

03.01.2022 Shout out to our client Jason and his transformation so far. Jason started his weight loss journey a year ago at another gym and came to us when he wanted to step things up a notch just after lockdown. His goal was to get lean enough to have a 6 pack. Our assessments... Initial Body Fat on our skin folds assessment was 25%. he is now sitting at 13%. A 12% total of body fat loss so far and a 6 pack now visible Initial Lean body mass was 63kg. it is now sitting at 69kg. a total increase of 6kg lean mass. A loss of 11kg body weight In our first initial consultation jason was tracking food with my fitness pal at 3500 cals daily. Before starting his program with us these calories were putting on body fat. We got away from the idea of 'just calories/macros matter' and maximized hormones with a tailored and specific meal plan. we improved cortisol and insulin issues that were present. in doing so we were able to build jasons calories back up to 4000 cals daily while still dropping body fat. We have used mechanical tension based methods of training and also more local metabolic systems to drive hypertrophy and fat loss. We have also used tailored nutrition protocols such as carb cycling, building, high/lows and our special 'hollywood' protocol. The cool thing is..... we are only getting started Well done Jason See more

02.01.2022 Women, Train Like A Boss ! Here are some tips to further the strong, lean female physique ... Earn your carbs. Many women are afraid of carbohydrates. If you incorporate strength training and have a smart daily nutrition set up your carbohydrates threshold will rise. Some of our female clients are currently eating more carbs than they ever had, and dropping the most body fat they ever have! But you must earn your carbs Cardio is an effective tool, but it is heavily over used and not giving enough progress at times. Incorporate some anaerobic strength training to fine tune that physique Women tend to work better with upper and lower split strength sessions. Women also tend to handle more volume than men! Be aware around your menstrual cycle. You may gain weight due to fluctuations of water weight/hormones.... however you may still be losing body fat even with the weight gain. Realize that your dedication and hard work will pay off once your hormones normalize and the water weight drops off. Shoutout to all the boss women out there, tag a friend that would get some value out of this #women #mindperformancehealth See more
