25.01.2022 A little lateral flexion, a little arm/shoulder work, a little rotation = so much goodness. A snippet from a combo I've been loving for me and my clients lately. The lateral flexion has a great integration of armwork and obliques and the rotation segment does also! If the video had sound you would probably hear my groans as I try to find some rotation, which I so need! 25.01.2022 Some scooter variations courtesy of @zaynagold and #healingwithpilates I love these, particularly during pregnancy, to work the standing stabilising leg but also add a little focus to hamstring and glutes on the pushing leg. Also the single arm makes you concentrate on maintaining a square torso and then the rotation (not only feels great !) but works a little extension and obliques. Ticking so many boxes! 24.01.2022 Love this exercise thanks to @bodysmart__pilates! Side lying is great for me just now and this works the obliques very nicely! I added in the lower leg lift for the inner thighs as well. My clients had the option to lift their head and glide the ribs towards the hips, but I didn't need that! 22.01.2022 Giving the glutes a workout with some lunges/ scooter variation on the box. After over a week away from Pilates my booty felt these!! Particularly the standing leg! I like adding in some arms at the same time as well, so a little triceps added to the sequence as well. 22.01.2022 Leg strapwork - another staple! I love leg strapwork and love that if I'm propped up I can still enjoy it. I tend to go for a lighter spring choice and focus on pelvic stability whilst mobilising the leg in the hip joint. I also love focusing on the hamstrings and really controlling the straps through #symmetry, #precision and #control. Being pregnant I now watch my range to not overdo it and lose the control from the muscles, particularly as the hormones start to influence the ligaments in the pelvis. 18.01.2022 I love an arm series, particularly kneeling arms. I first saw the variation of going from seated kneeling to kneeling from @korinnolanpilates and I love it! To press up using the hamstrings and glutes and then stabilise the body to execute the arms is a great combination. This lead nicely into arm circles as well which, with all the stabilising muscles working, was a nice treat for the arms, shoulders and lower body! 15.01.2022 Some balance, glute and hamstring work to finish off a lunge/row sequence tonight! When short on time it is nice to combine some arms and legwork. My glutes definitely need some reminding to work sometimes, particularly through pregnancy. And it's always fun sharing balance work with clients too as we so often forget about its importance! 14.01.2022 As I mentioned in my previous post, I love a bit of balance/ stability work. This one is great as an extension of leg and footwork with the jumpboard (in case you can't see, I have a semi squishy ball under my foot). I usually include it after some jumping to bring the heart rate back down. It would also be nice before jumping to engage the hamstrings. Or if you didn't want to jump at all, you can still utilise the jumpboard. I'm also propped up due to not wanting to lie flat #pregnant belly ! So many options! 11.01.2022 Leg and footwork - a staple! I know a lot of people can lie on their back during pregnancy and can for a little while with no problems. I'm not one of them. I don't feel good lying on my back for very long and whether it is how I carry my babies, my size or just because, I find the jumpboard really handy to get through heaps of exercises without having to stop. It is what I use to prop myself up and use towels to make more comfortable in some areas. So getting through leg and footwork feels great, legs in straps and I even did a little jumping with the jumpboard! 08.01.2022 Triceps, obliques, glutes, stabilizers....lots of my favourites during this one and another great exercise for me during pregnancy. This is a great progression of side kneeling triceps and one that can be adapted to a mat exercise as well. Working this on the mat would be a great introduction before adding in a moving carriage, particularly when pregnant and you need to be aware of balance and stabilising! 08.01.2022 So much concentration! I do love an exercise with squats, throw in the arm work and a whole lot of stability and this sequence ticks the boxes! I was inspired after seeing @korinnolanpilates do this pregnant as well and thought, yep I'll give it a try! I didn't fall off the reformer which is a big win! I would say to anyone trying this series, pregnant or not, be careful! There are ways to work up to this, so use your progressions. 03.01.2022 A little snippet from my workout yesterday...and a little bump shot when I get to adding some rotation! A bit, now you see it, now you don't! I love the many kneeling arm exercises you can do on the reformer, I'm definitely planning on keeping them up til the end of this pregnancy. So good to have a strong arm/ shoulder complex as well as the upper back, particularly for carrying bub and breastfeeding.
