25.01.2022 ACT FOR PEACE RATION CHALLENGE Please follow this link to help Bronwyn from the Salvos raise much needed funds and awareness. To show that she stands with refugees, she'll live off a refugee camp ration pack for a week (think LOTS of rice!)... I did this challenge 2 years ago and I'll admit that I sobbed on day 6 and nearly gave up. It was a really eye-opening experience and it taught me how much we take fresh food for granted. 13.01.2022 A long post... More arts funding!!!! Artists looking for funds for a creative project that will benefit the City of Logan are invited to apply to the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). Applications for the next funding round are now being accepted.... Individuals, groups and organisations can apply for grants up to a maximum of $8000. RADF funding is open to develop one-off creative projects. Professionals and emerging professionals from all forms, including dance, music, design, museum and cultural heritage, new media, visual arts, writing and theatre, are encouraged to apply. Applicants must either live in the City of Logan or show that their project will benefit Logan. Applications close at 4pm on Tuesday, October 27 for projects starting after Friday, January 1, 2021. Local historic research, art installations and community workshops have been funded through past RADF grants. All RADF applicants must have an active Australian Business Number. Applicants are asked to discuss their grant proposal prior to submission by contacting Councils RADF Liaison Officer on 3412 5426 or emailing [email protected] Applications must be submitted online. Before applying, applicants must read the RADF Guidelines for Applicants 2020/21. 12.01.2022 A HUGE congratulations to Daisy Hill's Faith, who won the young artist competition for QLD Child Protection Week - September 6-12 2020. Faith spent 3 weeks using Lego to build a safe school of happy students and teachers, including a popcorn machine, dance room, handwashing class, diamond hunting, teleportation/time machine devices and a camp site with a magic marshmallow tree. Science class is taught by a happy Darth Vadar. ... Faith has named it the DIAMOND SCHOOL and described it as a place with no bullies and no angry teachers. What a fantastic effort from Faith and a brilliant way to consult with children about what matters most to them in their lives. The early years are a unique and finite window, where every opportunity for rich and positive interaction is an opportunity for supercharging a human brain for a lifetime. The way we invest in and look after little brains makes a difference to the future we all get to live in. If you don't believe me, consider this: ever...y child in this photo (my son in the middle) woke up one day this year with the sudden right to drive, buy beer, and vote at the same time!
