25.01.2022 Alpine quartzes from the Swiss and French alps are a favourite of mine. An interesting read is that archaeologists have found evidence of ancient crystal collecting in Switzerland dating back 10,000 years! https://www.dw.com//archaeologists-race-to-unco/a-54901291

25.01.2022 Our very first show since March 21st! Note the new address - its not the usual Redcliffe show, but held around the clubrooms. See you there!

23.01.2022 2020 is turning out to be a year like no other, due to COVID! It seems that all of Mineral Store’s remaining shows are now cancelled for the year. So, since it’s been a while since I added specimens to our online sales pages, I have knuckled down and managed to photograph and add a further 85 specimens to select from! (at www.mineralstore.com.au under the "minerals" tab) Pieces are divided into price ranges in order to keep everyone happy and on budget. As usual, the price INCLUDES standard postage within Australia and GST. To ensure that you secure a specimen, you can message me, SMS, ring on 0419 661 962 or email at [email protected]. If you are a little unsure, I can place specimens on hold for up to 7 days, and if required send more images or information. Payment can be via direct deposit, credit card or PayPal. Cheers Tony & Jude

22.01.2022 COVID continues to wreak havoc with gem and mineral shows. Tucson 2021 main event officially cancelled. Smaller satellite shows may go ahead in a reduced scale.

20.01.2022 Had a visit from an ex miner from the now closed Rocklands Mine in FN Queensland. Its renowned for its world-class crystalline native copper specimens. These three pieces from small to large cabinet size show varying degrees of fine copper crystals and arborescent copper branches. These will be available from our next weekends show in Kingaroy, SE Queensland.

19.01.2022 My copy of the Mineralogical Record "Mineral Collections in Australia" has finally arrived. An excellent edition that highlights the collections of four museums and eighteen collectors from all around Australia. It is included as a free supplement to subscribers to the Min Rec. (www.mineralogicalrecord.com) My pages include a few of my favourite Australian pieces along with a bit of history about my collecting life. The highlight photo of Jude and I was taken on the beach at Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast of the UK in 2018. In the 1820s and 1830s Mary Anning (of she sells sea shells fame) discovered the first fossils of giant plesiosaur and icthyosaur marine reptiles here. Her fossils still take pride of place in the British Museum of Natural History. 200 years later we still managed to find fossil ammonites on the same beach.

18.01.2022 The reprint of the 2021 Mineral and Crystal calendar has arrived! For those of you who have ordered, thank you for your patience, they should be arriving in your mailbox this week. For anyone else still interested, there are still six FINAL copies still available!

17.01.2022 If the virus god's and Anastasia and Gladys are in agreement Mineral Store Australia will be attending the Windsor Gem and Mineral Expo in Windsor in 3 weeks time! After a long gap between Sydneyside visits it will be good to catch up with our local customers! (Fingers crossed!)

16.01.2022 If you are seriously into minerals, then the Mineralogical Record journal is the preeminent publication to subscribe to. Its American, so priced in USD, but still worth every cent. MR have a subscriber drive at present offering free issues as a bonus. Check out their video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sHeIlc4zx0 The big news for AU subscribers, is that next month a special free Australian Collector edition is included, highlighting over 20 Australian collections (including mine!) If you are chasing back issues of the MR, Mineral Store Australia has over 500 copies both new and used to select from in stock. Our latest catalogue can be access here: http://www.mineralstore.com.au/images/minrecs210920.pdf

15.01.2022 The Mineralogical Society of Queensland's AGM and combined August monthly meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 26th August. 7.30 pm start at the Moorooka Community Centre, 40 Gainsborough St, Moorooka. Any change will be posted asap. I shall be giving a presentation on Jude and I's mineral buying trip to the US in January - February... Everyone welcome whether member or not!

13.01.2022 Our next show! Home in SE Queensland again.

11.01.2022 Our next show in Redcliffe, SE Queensland!

11.01.2022 On a wet and rainy day, recovering from 200mm of rain over the past couple of days, I thought I'd put up a few Australian pieces for sale! Description and price of each is on each image. Price is plus $9.00 postage within Australia. We prefer direct deposit, but take credit card and PayPal if you prefer. If you wish to purchase a particular specimen, post SOLD on the specimen image page (rather than this front page) please.

09.01.2022 2020 has been such a weird year for Mineral Store Australia. Normally Jude and I would be up to our ears in shows. Travelling interstate and across SE Queensland we would be selling almost back to back weekends. Now it's zero, and our online sales have taken over. For the past nine years I have produced a high quality mineral calendar and our customers look forward to the next year's edition. With the effort to design and photograph, the expense of printing and a near $9 postage cost and no or few shows to sell at, I am trying to gauge whether or not to do a 2021 edition? Should I go for it?

06.01.2022 It has taken a while! I have finally found time to update our website www.mineralstore.com.au, with a further 46 specimens, scattered over a range of pricing levels. Just go to the "minerals" tab and check out the new offerings! Pictured is a specimen of cerussite from Tsumeb, SW Africa

05.01.2022 2021 has arrived (my mineral and crystal calendars anyway!) Get your order in early to be sure to secure your copy. $20 for one or $36 for two, plus $8.95 postage within Australia per calendar. Excellent Xmas present and only 100 copies available.

05.01.2022 Jude and I wish all our customers a very Merry Christmas, and hope to see you all again in 2021. 2020 was a tough year for many, and for us, four shows vs twenty four in 2019 was a challenge. Regardless, we had an enjoyable start to the year in Tucson, Arizona, and we still have many of those wonderful specimens that we look forward to placing on sale in the new year!

04.01.2022 Cancelled due to COVID 2020. Let's hope 2021 is a happy year!

02.01.2022 It is with regret that Mineral Store Australia has cancelled our attendance at the Gosford Crystal Show on the 14th and 15th of August. The Queensland Government is presently mulling over stricter border closures. The chance of further Corona Virus spread, combined with a possible 14 day quarantine at cost of over $3000 is a risk we are just not prepared to take. So, sorry to our NSW customers and friends that we were really looking forward to seeing again! There are now only five possible shows left on our 2020 calendar. Four are in Queensland, and the Carlingford show in NSW at the end of November. Certainly challenging times, and we hope all our customers stay safe. We will of course be continuing our online sales at www.mineralstore.com.au and please check for regular updates! Tony and Jude.

02.01.2022 Each year I publish an A3 full colour calendar featuring a few of our best mineral and crystal specimens and for the first time in eight years I actually ran out of calendars before the clock struck 2021! However, in the past few days, some people have obviously been turning over their last day of 2020 and suddenly realised they don't have our 2021 calendar! So by popular demand, I have ordered a new reprint of a SMALL number which will be available in a couple of weeks to anyone who is getting withdrawal symptoms! FB Message me or email at [email protected]. ($20 plus $8.95 postage within Australia or $36 plus $13 postage for two copies).

01.01.2022 It was a big disappointment for many to see the North Brisbane club show cancelled. All of us were really looking forward to the start of 2021 shows in Queensland. Recognising this, David Bissett from ‘Australian Rocks and Minerals’, and Tony Forsyth from ‘Mineral Store Australia’ have teamed up to coordinate two home shows in bayside Brisbane on Saturday the 6th of March. Between the two shows, they can provide a huge range of lapidary and gem cutting materials, fine mineral... specimens, fossils and meteorites. David’s range of faceting material, slabs, ex-Donpon petrified woods and NQ agates are second to none. Tony’s crystal and mineral specimens and fossils are the finest on sale in Queensland. So, together, this will give our visitors an excellent opportunity to purchase from a huge range on the one day. It is early days, so please PM or SMS either of us for a personal invite. More information will be posted in the near future. David and Tony. See more

01.01.2022 Our show calendar for 2021 is still fluid with clubs such as North Brisbane still unable to confirm dates for us. So I have busied myself cleaning and sorting our stock in readiness. Dusted off this amazing Megalodon tooth, dating back some 5-10 million years! At 145mm in length it would have made for a formidable predator in its day.
