18.01.2022 CONFERENCE 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT Organisers have cancelled the 2020 Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference due to restrictions surrounding the COVI...D-19 outbreak. The event was previously scheduled to be held from Sunday, August 23 to Wednesday, August 26. The Queensland Resources Council said the focus would now shift to the 2021 Conference, to be held at The Star Gold Coast, with the theme Together we Collaborate, Innovate and Educate . We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors and exhibitors for their ongoing support of the conference and we look forward to welcoming them in 2021, 2020 conference chair Glen Britton said. The dates for the call for presentation abstracts and submissions for the Innovation and Health Awards for 2021 will be announced later this year. The cancellation follows a bumper year for conference attendance, with more than 960 people joining the event in 2019. Organisers say the 2021 program, as far as possible, will retain presentations planned for 2020. Mr Britton (photo) said further updates on the 2021 Conference could be accessed through the conference website https://www.qmihsconference.org.au, the conference Facebook page and the LinkedIn page.

12.01.2022 Dear SAMERC Participants, Please be advised, the SAMERC committee have made the decision to postpone the 2020 SAMERC Event at Angas Zinc Mine, Strathalbyn. The decision has not been taken lightly, and has been made for the following reasons:... The threat of COVID-19 is a concern and a risk to the committee, participants, volunteers and sponsors A number of competing teams have withdrawn from the event due to their current company policies regarding travel and attending large events The committee has set a proposed new date of 4, 5 & 6 September 2020. Same venue as previously planned. For those Teams that have paid the entry fees you have a couple of options; Maintain payment in preparation of the upcoming September comps Request reimbursement of entry fees (please email intent and provide EFT Details) The newly proposed dates mean there is a fair amount of accommodation available in Hahndorf at the location where the awards night function will be held (Adelaide Hills Convention Centre), there is a excel sheet attached for anyone who might want to secure accommodation early. Please advise any persons in your organisation of this date change who were planning on attending the event. I trust you can understand the committees decision and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We look forward to putting on a fantastic competition for you all in September. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate in contacting. Warm regards, Michael Yialas
