25.01.2022 Summer can mean fire and floods. New directions are now available on the steps to take if you need to travel to a regional property to prepare for an emergency. https://t.co/uPMjy5ZXH3

25.01.2022 Whilst not in our little patch, tomorrow has been Declared a day of Total Fire Ban in the Mallee. This is a timely reminder that summer is heading our way rapidly and now is the right time to clean up and prepare your house for this coming fire season. Stay safe everyone.

24.01.2022 Some pretty sound advice from our mates at Ballarat Fire Brigade. Please take care and drive to the conditions. Very heavy snow settling around Miners Rest at the moment. Take care everyone and enjoy the snow.

24.01.2022 Wild and windy tomorrow ladies and gentlemen. Please check that everything is pegged down and please check that any burn offs you have recently lit are fully extinguished

23.01.2022 In this strange time Miners Rest Fire Brigade wishes everyone a Happy Easter and hope that everyone is home and safe this Weekend. Stay safe everyone.

23.01.2022 Our thoughts tonight are with the Colleagues, Family and friends of the Members of Victoria Police who tragically lost their lives this evening whilst performing their duties. It’s never easy reading about tragic losses on our roads let alone reading of emergency services being involved. Our thoughts are also with the Emergency Services crews that responded to the incident. ... R.I.P

21.01.2022 This evening Miners Rest Fire Brigade was paged to an incident where a young man had fallen from his push bike. Passers by and brigade members assisted with first aid until our awesome paramedics from Ambulance Victoria arrived to care for the patient. I was very proud to see so many passers by stop to offer assistance when someone was in need of help, all the while everyone was wearing masks and adhering to social distancing. This is a big part of what makes this such a great community to be part of. Thanks also to Vicpol for their assistance in securing the scene. Stay safe everyone and big shout out to the young man for a speedy recovery.

21.01.2022 Last night a crew from Golden Square and Fire Rescue Victoria’s station 73 responded to a fire in a laundry. The home owner arrived home to find there had been... a fire in their laundry and called 000 but due to basic fire science and closing the laundry door the fire was unable to take hold and self extinguished due to a lack of oxygen. Crews ensured there was no fire extension into the rest of the house and returned to station. This is perfect example as to why you should close the doors to rooms that aren’t being used, especially whilst you aren’t home as it can reduce the fire progression throughout the property and always have working smoke alarms.

18.01.2022 Whilst its not a Total Fire Ban in our area today and the landscape does still have a slight green tinge to it, the weather in the North of the State to reminds us that summer is well and truly on the way. PREPARE NOW Work out your fire plan and practise it. ... Clean up around your property. Check any burns you have undertaken in the last few weeks to see that they are fully extinguished. Most importantly, stay safe.

18.01.2022 Today we have farmers conducting burn offs in our area. 2 Burns scheduled for Miners Rest and 1 for Ascot. You may see smoke from near by areas so please dont be alarmed.

18.01.2022 Dear Miners Rest Community, With advice from the CFA, yesterday our brigade made the decision to suspend all non-essential activities including brigade training, meetings and community engagement activities until further notice due to the current situation with the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Rest assured, we will still be responding to all emergency calls as per normal. This step was taken to limit potential exposure to our members.... Our aim is to keep our members healthy so we can maintain an operational response to our community when and if required. If you are in the unfortunate situation that you need to call the brigade to your property and you have a suspected or confirmed case of Coronavirus or are in self isolation please inform the 000 operator and advise us ASAP on our arrival. If you call for our assistance we will still be there as needed. Thank you for your understanding.

17.01.2022 This weekend our brigade along with other brigades have been responded to a number of unregistered burn offs. Please remember to register you burn off to reduce... the chance of CFA brigades getting called out for no reason. Please also check with your local council to see if you require a permit to conduct a burn off. Even though fire restrictions are not in place around Ballarat you may still need a permit from Ballarat Council or your local Shire. 14.01.2022 CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening. We appreciate those who are tha...nking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits. If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe.

14.01.2022 FIRE, FIRE, FIRE. Burn permits are now being issued to farmers for the burning of stubble so they can prepare ground for future cropping. While this will cause ...lots of smoke in a small area it will die down quickly as the stubble burns quickly. When these burns are lit there is a large amount of smoke due to the type of material being burned and this smoke will be visible for many miles . For our sake, the C.F.A. volunteers, so we don't not send the tankers out to a false alarm or stubble burn, can you be sure that the fire you see is not a stubble burn before you phone 000 to report a fire. Many Thanks, Jim Robinson Glendaruel fire brigade Captain. ph 0418132821

14.01.2022 With people working from home now more than ever, this is a timely reminder we need more than 3 metres to pass our vehicles down the street safely. Next time you park your vehicle on the street please take a minute to look and ask yourself, is that more than 3 metres?

13.01.2022 Here's some interesting viewing. Please install smoke detectors in your bedrooms, as working smoke alarms definately save lives.

13.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone Our Facebook page has been having some technical difficulties of late and we haven't been able to communicate but thanks to our social media team at CFA we are pleased to be back and can once again communicate with you, our community. Here's a good post to start with, as we are in the depths of winter it is a great time to make sure all of your appliances along with your smoke detectors are fully functional. Stay safe in there crazy times we find ourselves in.

13.01.2022 Some pretty sound advice from our mates at Ballarat Fire Brigade.

12.01.2022 Self isolating can be hard. Loneliness is a real danger. So please look after vulnerable people in your community. ... A lovely lady in England has made this slip to print and drop into your neighbours’ letterboxes. #ViralKindness

09.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season.
