24.01.2022 The ewes are getting bigger. Six more weeks and the new generation will arrive. Its very wet underfoot but the Cheviots with their hard little black feet are coping well

23.01.2022 Lauren from near Cobden has four more baas in her flock with the recent addition of some of our Miniature Cheviots. She has always wanted some Cheviots for the spinning quality of their wool.

22.01.2022 One more week and our first lambs should be here. Ewes are looking big !!!

20.01.2022 I've heard that some little babies descendant from Paramount Miniatures have now been born in Cobden Vic. and Tasmania

19.01.2022 I have some very disappointing news. The ram we used this year is obviously sterile. We were expecting lambs from 11 Sept. but have none to date. After inspecting all our ewes carefully today we came to the conclusion that none are in lamb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. So no pitter-patter of tiny hooves this year. Coyotl, our vigilant alpaca will be disappointed because he will have no small friends to protect from Brer Fox. So the ewes will have a rest for this season and Mr ram will be humanely recycled into dog food. First time this has happened to us in nearly 30 years of sheep breeding.

17.01.2022 The rams are getting frisky, their noses are all wrinkled and you can smell them from here. Time to select this year's sire for the 2013 drop of lambs. Aiming for mid-September this year.

17.01.2022 Lambing season 2013 is nearly here. Another couple of weeks to wait. Hopefully the weather will improve by then. It's been a very wet August here on the Mornington Peninsula.

17.01.2022 Some of our Miniature Cheviots have recently gone to live with Heather in Cobden. They will be very happy in the green pastures of south-western Victoria

17.01.2022 All of our miniature sheep have now been sold and a number of people will now continue with improving the Miniature Cheviots. Looking forward to see how small people will breed them. Check out the Toy Miniature Cheviots curretly bred in the USA

15.01.2022 A couple of our Miniature Cheviots are now living with Sarah and her family in Tyabb

11.01.2022 Some of our Miniature Cheviots are now residing "overseas" in Tasmania with Janelle and James. After some administrative hiccups with quarantine authorities and a quick shearing, they are now happily grazing west of Hobart. Best wishes to Janelle and James with their new sheep venture

10.01.2022 Finally, some good autumn rain !!! Hope it results in some pasture growth before it gets too cold.

10.01.2022 It's very dry here. Pasture running out and we are feeding out. We are waiting for the autumn rains to make things green again.

09.01.2022 End of year update. We did get some lambs eventually. Five weeks late so lambing season dragged on slowly. So Mr ram was not sterile but his fertility was non existent when we first put him in with the ewes. Have been trying to work out what happened and at this stage concluding that his fertility was suppressed because he was not one of the dominant boys in the ram flock. He was chosen for his quality and not for his machismo. We live and learn ! Best wishes for the festive season to all of you

08.01.2022 Shearing today. Found a new Kiwi shearer who lives close by. Very good and very fast.

08.01.2022 The ram is now running with the ewes. New lambs in 150 days, around October 6th.

08.01.2022 Ram has been selected, drenched and had a pedicure. Ewes have been selected, drenched, crutched and pedicured. The arranged union is under way and new lambs expected from September 7th

07.01.2022 The rain came last week. There is a tinge of green in the paddocks. The rams are frisky. Time to select a sire for this year's mating.

06.01.2022 Three more mothers in waiting and lambing will be over for this year. More pics soon

06.01.2022 It's been raining solid for the past 24 hours. Sheep are wet, but happy to have some hay. Some paddocks flooded but water is draining away and hopefully will not affect the pasture toomuch

05.01.2022 A couple of sunny days are making the grass grow. Feeding out some hay to ewes just to keep up their condition while mating.

05.01.2022 A couple of our special pet Miniature Cheviots are now with Lee at Yellingbo

04.01.2022 Time to move on. We have decided to move to much warmer pastures so we have to part with our Miniature Cheviots. They are not suited to the Darwin wet season so the stud is for sale to any enthusiastic sheep breeder that wants to continue the breeding programme. Our ultimate aim was to develop Toy Miniature Cheviots but we will leave this to others. The stud is advertised on Gumtree and on other Facebook sites. Hopefully someone will capitalise on16 years of breeding. I will keep you informed of where our little sheep end up. And our next adventure ? Miniature Brahman Cattle ?? Miniature Albino Water Buffalo ?? Who knows !

04.01.2022 A couple of our ewe lambs are now with Jenny in Silvan
