23.01.2022 Valentine's flash back Taking a look back at the first My Mini Valentine Showcase we hosted, circa 2015. This showcase featured Valentines inspired designs by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns. It was loads of fun working with other boutique handmade businesses and together creating a gorgeous collection of girls wear.... I don't see many Showcases around anymore, but if you know of any I'd love to have a peak. Almost makes me feel like getting the clan together again and hosting another one..

23.01.2022 Gee wiz! Some fabrics are truly divine, aren't they! It's no wonder us handmaidens are struggling to keep our fabric stashes under control when there are so many fabric beauties out there, just waiting to be added to our collection. I put a "fabric rescue" call out for help in my Madly In Love with Handmade group the other day. Asking for advice on how to get my fabric quantities under control. Where to start, what to do with the excess fabrics, what if I let the fabric go, and then miss it too much. Turns out, I'm keeping it all. For a bit longer anyway.
23.01.2022 Oh my goodness, it won't be long until we will be having a glorious day out of the sewing studio and doing our stallie thing at the Lollipop Markets! There's no point denying it, I've a bit of a soft spot for this market. This time the location being Morphettville Racecourse, well it's just like the good old times of Lollipop. I've held many a stall there with my biz. The now owners of Lollipop Markets, Bianca and Mel do an amazing job of creating the events and ensuring sta...llies and customers have a great day. I couldn't do better myself... and believe me when I say I thought about it. Yep, I totally looked at buying the business when it was up for sale. Actually, I considered it both times it was up for sale! Slightly obsessed I know! But, as much as I love the handmade industry and support local businesses, it just wasn't the right fit for me. So I bought more fabric instead. Fabric always wins in the end, don't you think? xx MS
22.01.2022 Can you believe we are well into February aready! Boy time goes fast! We're in the thick of our Summer Sleeping Bag season, and muslin is still the sure favourite fabric to keep your babies sleeping cool. Thank you my friends for showing my little biz much love. xx MS

Im here to let you know about something exciting I've planning for Mini Mad. Its not quite ready yet, but Ive been taking inspiration from fabrics such the gorgeous Art Gallery Bloomsbury pictured here, and designing concepts that incorporate clothing beyond my sleeping bag range. 18.01.2022 See the green iron? Yep, it weighs a tonne, but I rescued it. I bought it off of a retiring Tailor who was selling their sewing supplies. Does anyone else find joy in buying vintage sewing things... sewing machine, sewing tables, scissors, threads, fabric and so on. It is rescuing, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise!... Happy sewers make pretty things

17.01.2022 I must say, it's a little trickly photographing sleeping bags without a baby, did I do ok?? If you have a suggestion on an other way, I'd love to hear it, thank you. You see, I used to photograph my babies in my sleeping bags, but they are 5 and 9yrs old now, so they can't be my mini models anymore. Babies just don't keep! You know the saying... xx MS See more

15.01.2022 Its some gentle encouragement to let your baby know its sleepy time! Yes, sleep bags are a healthy sleep association for your baby. It's comforting, predictable and sets the tone of relaxation. Of course you can utilize a lightweight cotton sleep bag for day sleeps too, even when your child is already dressed in day clothing. PS. Love the florals on little miss here

14.01.2022 There's joy in sewing, have you tried it? I learnt how to sew late in my teenage years. I was hopeless at it when I first started my Fashion Design course. So awkward on a sewing machine in those early days. But, I soon found my groove and built up my skills. There's a great sense of freedom to create and satisfaction when you complete a garment. Whether it's something for yourself, your child, a gift or an item for a paying customer. Sewing is a great skill. Some say it's a ...lost skill, but I'm hopeful the handmade trends are working hard to keep it alive. Can you see yourself learning to sew? 12.01.2022 Did I actually tell you? I must have, coz I told everybody else. Yep I was awarded this honour, IRL. I posted about being a SA Woman Australia finalist late last year, and by golly I took out the crown! I actually had a really great year last year. I was a total champion in our family building business. I won two awards in the same month. So greedy I know! SA Woman and HIA Business Partner SA Award, for my role in our building business. Yes, away from the sewing machine, we b...uild houses. Real nice ones too. Like I said, I'm a total champion in our family business, but not so much in this side hustle. They say you can have it all, but not all at the same time. That's a hard pill to swallow. xx MS

Sewing is a bit like driving a car, you need to start with the basics. In this out-take, my student is putting pedal to the metal and look, we’re pivoting!... Im a fashion lover, patternmaker and sewer from Adelaide and I LOVE hoarding fabric. Something you may not know about me is I make dresses for my two gorgeous girls, and do all sorts of happy dances when they proudly wear them. ... My favourite drink is coffee, lotsa coffee! A glass of bubbly is always a good idea too. I enjoy hunting through gumtree for vintage sewing machines in my spare time. Theres always another one to be rescued! When current restrictions are lifted, the first thing Ill be doing is dead lifts with my lovely Personal Trainer, Sarah. Crazy how you miss that sort of punishment. Id love to get to know you too! 06.01.2022 Let’s take a little trip down memory lane. I’ll fill you on why and how my business began.. Mini Mad evolved after I found my daughter was too hot in store bought sleeping bags and the fit was too small. I made her a sleeping bag way back in 2010 out of cotton muslin and she slept in it so well, she wore it for all her summer sleeps. See this pic, it is the very first sleeping bag I made on my baby girl! It was a light bulb moment when she slept so well in it!... My sister then borrowed the same sleeping bag for her daughter the following summer. It was returned to me looking like new. I knew then I had a product that could be helpful and also stand up to many wears. Soon I began making sleeping bags for other babies and in time it set the direction of my business. I've made quite a few sleeping bags over the years and love that they assist in a small part of little babies lives. The business is now just shy of 10 years and I’ve loved every minute of it. From chatting to expecting and new mums, to my return customers who are needing another sleeping bag, as they just work so well in the past. And the fabric and sewing, gee that’s all kinds of bliss I tell you. Then seeing your gorgeous babies comfortable in my clothing, it doesn’t get any better! It’s been a rewarding ride and I look forward to what I might be sewing next. Safe to say my now 10 year old, wants me to make other things than sleeping bags! Bless!
