21.01.2022 Your Chance to Win a signed copy of "When the World Went Inside" - By Charlie Golding Charlie Golding is a Mini Maestros fan and a mum who became an accidental author in lockdown. Charlie was in lockdown with her three children and was trying to help them understand the pandemic and the changes in their world. An avid book reader, she went looking for a book to explain COVID-19 to her young family, but one didn't yet exist! After her son had a heartbreaking episode when he st...arted refusing to leave the house because he was scared the "virus was going to get him", Charlie realised that she had to do better. She wrote a simple story for her family but when she realised that other families were struggling through the same issues, she decided to make the book accessible to others. The feedback has been incredible! Parents are reaching out from all over the world to say how the book has changed the conversations that they are having with their children. The simple tale tells the story of one boy's life in lockdown and provides reassurance to children and parents alike that this will not be forever. Following on from the story there are three pages of information talking about the virus, how to stay safe and how to have fun at home! How to Enter: Download the colouring sheets here: https://1drv.ms/b/s!ApjSDVYwA40M_DIXJ4BRXjrYcjPE?e=mQu1yu and choose one to print and decorate. When complete, email a photo of your creation to [email protected]) with the subject line "Charlie Golding" by October 31st. The winner will be displayed and announced in the next edition of Heart.Beat.

17.01.2022 What Happens in Term 4? In person classes in Victoria will not be permitted for some time under Victorias Roadmap for Reopening, so during Term 4 Mini Maestros has available Online Courses of weekly lessons plus additional fun and interactive Zoom sessions by local teachers (eg. parties, dress-up themes and grandparents days). Some teachers are also offering more structured weekly Zoom lessons. Check the Find a Class page (https://www.minimaestros.com.au/find/) to se...e what is on offer at your preferred location and to make an enquiry with your local teacher. As soon as it is permitted, Mini Maestros will return to in person classes with all appropriate safeguards (https://www.minimaestros.com.au/mini-maestros-covid-19-safe) If this happens during Term 4, first customers who are already enrolled in our Term 4 Online Courses or Zoom classes will be invited to upgrade their Term 4 enrolment to attend the in person classes (and will retain access to the Online Course as well). Then, all other enrolments will be accepted into our in person classes, space permitting. We expect places to be limited due to safe distancing requirements. During Term 4 we normally hold our much loved concerts. The Mini Maestros Concerts (https://www.minimaestros.com.au/news/detail/?nid=116) are a wonderful way to celebrate our year of learning and confidence building together. They provide an opportunity for children to present their love of music and share their learning with friends and family. If our end of year concerts are not able to proceed as normal this year, where possible, we will hold Zoom concerts so our students still have the opportunity to perform and celebrate with their peers in front of family and friends. As normal, our 4 - 5 year olds completing the full 10 weeks of Term 4 lessons (from our Online Course or by Zoom classes) will graduate from Mini Maestros and will receive their coveted Graduation Medal. 17.01.2022 Little Harper and her mum went on a scavenger hunt at the local park and found all sorts of things from all the colours of the rainbow. Such a fantastic activity!

17.01.2022 At Mini Maestros, we have been doing lots of activities with dolls, teddies, and soft toys of all kinds. When children play with dolls, they engage in imaginative and pretend play. This is a milestone in childrens social and emotional development. As children learn to put life into an otherwise inanimate object, they are exploring empathy, language, physical motion and self-expression. We are encouraging these milestones in class, but now you can continue at home! Follow Kelly as she teachers you how to make some wooden spoon dolls. When children make their own, they can feel a sense of pride and ownership in what they have created. Feel free to share childrens creations with us y sending a photo to [email protected], or simply see if your child would like to use their wooden spoon doll in their next Mini Maestros class!

17.01.2022 First day back was like I was given a giant vitamin pill filled with explosive joy. I had one little boy in my 2-3 class today who was so happy to be back that when I asked what action he wanted to do for the hello song, he just went into a frenzy moving from one action after another. I wish there was a way we can rewind and play the whole day over and over again! - Janet Collins Mini Maestros Port Melbourne/Elwood

This fun movement activity will keep children guessing, as it’s up to chance for which animal they will get to roleplay next! Will you hop like a kangaroo? Or fly like a cockatoo? Roll the dice and find out! Kelly also explains other variations for this game to encourage discussion about animals and build skills in categorizing. You can find the template for the animal pictures here: https://1drv.ms/b/s!ApjSDVYwA40M_Vuvrhx8_ecVqQuC?e=FhjkVN
