25.01.2022 We received some new wooden open ended toys a few weeks ago and the children (plus adults) are having so much fun creating, building and playing with them. What the children dont realise is they are developing their vocabularies, maths skills and learning all about gravity, balance, colours, sizes, geometry and positions as they build and create masterpieces.
24.01.2022 The last few weeks have seen some pretty big changes at Mini Moo. What began as a simple plan to lay new grass where the sandpit used to be quickly turned into a whole backyard revamp. The plan involved building up the grassed area to make it level by extending the retaining wall, creating a yarning circle, new sandpit area, mud pit area with mud kitchen and loose parts (photo to come), new water wall, tinkering wall, blackboard, ball wall, music wall (photo to come) and outdoor abacus (still to be completed) along with painting and staining a new garden bed for veggies. Im proud to say along with the help of my wonderful husband, father and mother we have been able to pull it off and Im very pleased with the end result. I cant wait for the children to return this week to enjoy it all.
22.01.2022 May the year of the rat bring you good luck and good fortune. Happy Lunar New Year The children at Mini Moo have enjoyed celebrating and learning all about lunar new year. They have practiced using chop sticks, writing Chinese numerals, learning all about new year traditions, eating fortune cookies and painting dragons.
22.01.2022 Happy fathers Day to all the amazing fathers out there
21.01.2022 Last week was National Reconciliation Week. The theme for this year was grounded in truth, walk together with courage. The children practice drawing different Aboriginal symbols, read stories, completed dot paintings and acted out Dreamtime stories. We spoke about what it means to say sorry and how you can be compassionate and inclusive towards others.
21.01.2022 Our outside activity walls add that extra element to the area and the children play with them daily. From squeezing the bike horn and drawing on the chalkboard to watching the water run down the pipes and counting the pool noodles. There is always something to do.
21.01.2022 Some of the Mini Moo children were able to visit a Curious Cubs workshop during these school holidays. Curious Cubs is a local business who run science workshops for children. They experimented with static electricity, force and learnt about the properties of water. Most of all they had a blast

19.01.2022 Science activities and science experiments complement a childs natural curiosity and wonder of the world around them. Science experiments encourage children to develop their critical thinking skills, communication skills and patience while learning about the world around them. These are just some of the science activities we do here at Mini Moo
18.01.2022 Thank you to our brave Heroes and their families who I'm sure are missing them like crazy.
18.01.2022 What as great idea. On our journey to being a more sustainable service here at Mini Moo we have and still are gradually moving from plastic resources/toys to wooden and more environmentally friendly resources, therefore we have boxes and boxes of toys that are no longer used but I dont want to just throw them into landfill. This is the perfect idea and the children and I can go on a little adventure to donate our old toys.
18.01.2022 Last week was NAIDOC week. NAIDOC week is about celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The children were able to experience and learn about our first peoples history and culture through planned activities, excursions, dream time stories, indigenous music, art and play.
17.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing Mums out there and also to all the special people (dads, grandparents, aunties and uncles) who fill the Mum role in their little ones lives
16.01.2022 Santa is on his way. Merry Christmas
16.01.2022 Each year my scheme (collective family day care) organises a donation drive to help those who are less fortunate. This years chosen charity was the Womans Cottage, which is a place for woman and children to go to to escape domestic violence. The cottage asked for treat foods that they dont normally receive, things like chips, lollies and juice. So I thought I would put it out there and ask my wonderful families if they would like to donate. I also took the children on an e...xcursion to purchase the items to create a hamper. Well needless to say I am absolutely blown away by the generosity of everyone. We ended up being able to make 4 full hampers to donate and what makes it even better is my scheme has decided to match the number of hampers donated by each of the educators. Plus our amazing financial guru has also decided to match the number of hampers donated, thats 12 hampers just from us. "It takes a village to raise a child" and this is exactly what we have created here at Mini Moo. Our own little village that is there to support and encourage each other. Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my families for their donations. Stay tuned for the final number of hampers donated from the whole scheme..... See more
16.01.2022 What a great resource to help with transitioning away from dummy use
15.01.2022 The children at Mini Moo have always shown an interest in cars. Everything from motor bikes to diggers. A lovely Mum gave my school aged son an idea to draw a road. Well as you can see it turned into a whole city complete with a bridge, paddock, construction work and he even drew each of the childrens houses. Once he was finished he invited the children to come and enjoy it. And enjoy it they did. The room was filled with laughter, chatter and different car noises
14.01.2022 Thank you to our brave Heroes and their families who Im sure are missing them like crazy.
13.01.2022 Today is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day. It is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate our kids, and consider the impact ...that community, culture and family play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child. #TeacherResources #AboriginalPerspectives #WePlayWeLearnWeBelong
12.01.2022 Playing outside, even in winter, promotes good physical development and wellbeing. Being outside encourages the use of the whole body through running, jumping, swinging and riding bikes. This physical activity supports a childs gross motor development and overall heath.
12.01.2022 What a great opportunity for our children to learn about fires and the amazing heros who live amongst us.
11.01.2022 Taking expressions of interest now for vacancies starting January 2020
11.01.2022 Last week we celebrated National pajama day to help raise awareness and money for children in foster care. The money we raised goes towards The Pajama Foundation to help build the childrens learning skills, fund educational resources and provide stable, positive relationships to those children in foster care. Thank you to our families who donated.
10.01.2022 Our new mud pit and mud kitchen has been very busy lately. The children will ask for water to add to their creations and bring in different elements such as rocks, wood chips, leaves and even an apple core Im am currently looking into options to allow the children access to water without having to ask all the time. Im thinking an old water pump of some sort.
08.01.2022 What a great initiative, I can not wait to share these stories with the children
07.01.2022 Please help us and sign this petition. I 100% agree that families should be given free childcare in this hard time but not at the expense of my wages. My thriving business is now going to suffer due to having 50% of my wages cut. How is that fair?
07.01.2022 HALLOWEEN October is such a fun month at Mini Moo, its all about spiders, bones and pumpkins. The children enjoyed the Halloween books and counting spiders but their favourite was mixing potions and melting frozen hands.

06.01.2022 A few of the children did not enjoy brushing their teeth at home so what a great opportunity to learn all about dental health and hygiene. The children read books about visiting the dentist, learnt about foods that are bad for their teeth, made Play-Doh teeth, extracted the wooden teeth, made mouth puppets and were even able to watch an episode of Peppa pig (a childs favourite character) where she visits the dentist. The children responded well to this experience and hopefully teeth brushing is a little easier from now on.
06.01.2022 Im absolutely loving Woolworths new promotion. If anyone has any spare seeds they dont want or need please donate them to Mini Moo. The children love to take care of the vegie garden and watch the plants grow.
04.01.2022 One of the benefits of having a large covered deck, the children can still play as normal when its raining when they dont have their wet weather clothes on. We have kinetic sand happening to the left, pom pom sorting in the middle and giant connect four being played to the right. Absolute bliss
03.01.2022 Today is National Simultaneous Storytime Day
02.01.2022 Wow what a wonderful surprise. Thank you so much for the nomination.
01.01.2022 We dont normally watch tv here at Mini Moo but the children and I do an Acknowledgement of Country each day and to help educated and celebrate NAIDOC week the children will be able to watch this episode of playschool. Im excited to learn a few new songs we can sing and for all the questions to come. Thank you to playschool and the ABC for leading the way and helping teach our next generation about our first people and to value, respect and take care of all people and cultures. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Awabakal people on whoes land we play and learn today. We promise to do our best to look after the land, the people and the animals.
01.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning; We will remember them.
