25.01.2022 So one of the services here at Mining Honey is that we split people’s native hives. We supply the second box the knowledge, experience and the equipment. Travel to your place and split your hive. Here is one we did the other day.
25.01.2022 We split our TC native bee hive. Spring is here.
24.01.2022 So far a great day out working our hives. Manipulated brood, removed pollen frames and added extra supers. Bees are starting to lift all the honey from the brood into the supers. Be great to get an inch or two of rain in the near future.

20.01.2022 Well we are well in to the beekeeping season and I thought I’d just say thank you to all those that have supported us by purchasing our beautiful honey. I’d like to specially mention Sharon for all her support especially when I’m all over the place she is slowly getting me squared with my to do lists. But I’m ever grateful for her support and to all you other people that get me chewing your ear off about bees and I start getting all excited. This year is looking good now if we get some more rain we will have a kicker of a season
20.01.2022 So my parents are pretty happy. This season there flow hive has exploded with bees and they got to take there first batch of honey from there flow hive frames.
20.01.2022 HQ is slowly getting there. Electricians started wiring 3 phase to the block then over to the shed. Won’t be long and will be waiting for Energex to connect to mains. Things are slowly moving forwards by December we should be fully set to run Mining Honey from HQ. Will post pics as things progress.
19.01.2022 Checking on the native hive we rescued couple days ago. They are preparing a cell for the queen to lay in. Placed pollen in and prepared ready for her to lay. Such fascinating little bees
19.01.2022 So I split this Hockingsi Hive last week and we have had mating swarms going on out the front of the hives. Went out to check it tonight after being away and lots of drones hanging out.
19.01.2022 Out doing a bit of mowing at one of our sites this afternoon. Bees are bringing in plenty of nectar and some are looking nice and strong. Almost time to place another Honey Super on.
19.01.2022 Very exciting. We have had the floor epoxied with a blue flake. Few more days and we will start to move our honey extraction equipment in and set it up for our next extraction. Best thing is we will not have to pack up after each extraction we can clean up and have it ready for next time.

17.01.2022 Hope everyone faired ok through the last couple crazy storms in the Brisbane region. We got 102mm of rain in an hour and a half and even though Head Quarters is on a slight slope we got flash flooding. Was a crazy amount of rain. So if I haven’t got back to some of use that have messaged us or left voice mails messages we will endeavour to get through them and get back to use over next couple days.
17.01.2022 So this video I’m going through the hive for couple reasons. One to check how much honey is in the hive, secondly through the brood box to check space and see if the queen has been excepted show you how I mark my unmarked Queens. Hope someone gets something out of it.
16.01.2022 At our final site checking hives today and they are getting super strong. This season is looking like it’s starting off well after such a devastating season for us last season.
16.01.2022 Well we haven’t had to bad a day. We started up some new colonies to add to our apiary. Some girls weren’t to happy about the cooler weather today. Got stung straight between the eyes and multiple stings on the legs and hands. First time in a long time I’ve put on a full suit.
