21.12.2021 Each year, the CFMEU Callide Valley and Callide Power Lodges put on a day to give back to the community of Biloela. The Lodges put together a great day once again with rides for the kids, drinks and food, a great fireworks display and a generally good time for all. Our Lodges support their communities and the Callide Lodges want to give a shout out to these local businesses and groups: Light Em Up Fireworks Biloela Panthers RLFC Biloela Foodworks... Biloela Quality Meats Simmons Bakery Bill's Amusements Biloela Chaplaincy Jim's Cycles Biloela Party Hire Streets and Treats Ice Cream Well done to all involved on another great day for the Biloela community!

15.12.2021 We are shocked and saddened to learn that a roof collapse at Queensland's Crinum underground mine overnight has resulted in the tragic death of a mineworker and serious injury of another. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased mineworker. We thank mines rescue and first responders for their attendance at the scene. Union check inspectors are attending the site and will undertake a thorough, independent investigation.

25.11.2021 BHP's labour hire workforce has been critical to keeping mines operating during COVID. That's why we are calling on BHP to extend its $500-plus 'Working through COVID' recognition scheme, currently only for permanents and Operations Services to labour hire workers. This would be an easy way to lessen the divisive workplace culture on widespread cynicism about BHP's rhetoric about being 'one team'. See the letter to BHP here: https://me.cfmeu.org.au//m/files/LabourHireRecognition.pdf

29.10.2021 During July, unions and Labor travelled through Central Queensland talking to coal miners about the permanent casual rort and campaigning for change. Meanwhile... a Senate Inquiry heard damning evidence about the decline of permanent jobs in coal mining. Thanks to everyone who spoke out! We'll keep the pressure on politicians for 'same job same pay' and the return of secure, permanent jobs to the mining industry. Michele O'Neil Sally McManus Anthony Albanese Russell Robertson - Labor for Capricornia Kelly VEA VEA- Isaac Deputy Mayor

11.10.2021 Bad news today. The High Court has overturned our important Federal Court wins for casual miners which found the 'permanent casual' work model unlawful. The Mo...rrison Government was backing WorkPac. But they had already done the dirty work of the big mining and labour hire companies. With crucial One Nation support, they passed legislation in March that gave the companies everything they wanted and effectively overturned our wins anyway. It means bosses can keep exploiting casuals in permanent on-going jobs and it blocks long-term casuals seeking compensation. Read our statement here: https://me.cfmeu.org.au//casual-miners-hopes-dashed-govern We'll keep fighting for change in our industry, but it's tough with government and employers teaming up against us. Let's hold our politicians to account for ending the 'permanent casual' rort and restoring permanent jobs in our industries.

30.09.2021 Great news. The approval of the Isaac Downs mine expansion near Moranbah in Central Queensland will support 300 mining jobs for an extra decade and generate 250 more construction jobs. https://www.thechronicle.com.au//fdb5d0ac0c40e867a56ea1624

21.08.2021 Senator Matthew Canavan likes dressing up as a coal miner, but he didn't turn up to hear evidence from coal workers or mining community leaders at the Job Secur...ity Senate Inquiry this week, even though he's Deputy Chair. Maybe he's embarassed about voting for new laws that take rights away from casual miners? He certainly should be.

04.08.2021 Thanks to all our members who came along to share their views with Anthony Albanese and Michele O'Neil in Moranbah yesterday.

31.07.2021 We have a new special guest for Sunday's politics in the pub - for all members in Moranbah, come along with your friends, family and questions!
